It beeps 10 times, pauses then beeps 10 time and keeps this up. The receiver doesn't light or blink. On another ESC the instructions states that this is not enough power (no instructions with this one). I'm using a 3S 1800 and a 3S 2200 battery both get the same beep pattern.
Can someone help OH one receiver is a OrangeRX 610 and the other is a Specktrum.

yes, you can use it for EDF. Question is power consumption of motor, servos and receiver - less then 40A all together. BEC is build-in ESC, UBEC is stand-alone BEC. So you need UBEC.

You need to buy yourself a Ubec (PRODUCT ID: TR-UBEC) to power your receiver (RX),wire the Ubec to your batteries connector plug and then plug the Ubec into a spare channel on your RX=receiver,
thats how i have to do it for my EDF's and warbirds but i'm not sure how it about your tri-copter,can't see why it wouldn't work like that as you need to power your RX with an ESC like this which has no Ubec built into it.
Plus i find it a lot safer to do it this way,if your ESC fail for what ever reason you will still have power for your ailerons and elevator using separate Ubec. :-)
For some reason hk doesn't let me comment on my own question so I have to use my friends account. I am newbe2awesome and I need to know if I need to use a voltage regulator as well if I use a ubec. Also will I need a separate battery to power my receiver. What I think is that I will just need to plug in a ubec between an Esc and a receiver without any separate battery or voltage regulators. Correct me if I am wrong
It depends on how many servos or devices you are going to be drawing power from your BEC onboard the ESC. Generally speaking, if you draw more than 1.5A you will want a separate UBEC to ensure constant and steady power. It depends on your servo type but if you are using say 4 x 9g servos which typically draw around 250mah, you will be OK with onboad BEC.
with all these devices you need exactly UBec. Since this devayse Bec missing. Simply connect it with AKB parallel with the regulator and everything will be okay
Thanks tommy2ties but see I bought this esc and when I connect it to my receiver there is no power. I connect my battery to my wax and my esc to my receiver and motor. There is a beep on the esc when it connects to the motor but when I take it out and connect it to my receiver only nothing happenes. My receiver should have a green light flashing but it doesn't. Do I need to use a ubec or not. What do I do.
Important Note: For ESCs without BEC/UBEC, You need a separate UBEC, a
voltage regulator, or extra batteries as the power source for your receiver. i didnt realize it was opto it should be said in the title so we know what were buying not in the fine print. so answer is yes you do need the seperate ubec. the other ss doesnt require it.
no if you only use two but you will get loget flight times but use a sbec or ubec way way better efficeintcy you will always do it after you see the true difference its amazing ans saves all electronics these use better techknology see for yourself on any plane !
Sorry your wrong tommy2toes,you DO need a UBEC for this ESC as it's an Opto ESC and you need a UBEC to add power to your RX = receiver.
Still it's a lot safer doing it this way because if your ESC fail for what ever reason your UBEC will still power your RX and then you can land safely. :-)
you can yes with this one you dont have to but it flys way better faster response time between you giving the controll signal and the esc telling the motor to respond it wors just anticipate the moves or just flash and do the moves as fast as your fingers can input. hope this helps have fun fly high. tommy
With this ESC you will need an external BEC (Battery Elimination Circuit), since it doesn't have its own internal BEC. Some people doesn´*t like these BEC's ´*cause it's easier working with an all-in-one ESC/BEC unit. But I prefer these ones for the extra security it gives you: 1) Less BEC/ESC overheating problems, since both units are not together. 2)In case of ESC/motor fail, you will be able to keep controlling your servo channels, and thay can help you to save your model, or at least avoid mayor accidents.
i use foamy 3d profiles with any ss hobbyking esc without any external anything just lipo3s 800 3d and su27 jets works fine nothing wrong over two years like that 80 plus flights on some easy.

I can't see the post above, I only assume they are telling you opto means you will need to select a BEC, battery eliminator circuit this speed controller will not power the reciever. hook it up in parallel with your speed controller to the battery and plug it into the recievers battery port, it will backfeed power to your speed controller to "turn it on". OPTO is that the ESC has BEC, but does not come on, you have to connect manually, ie welding wire on the board and also the 5v line is below the Bec 1amper.

According to the "user uploaded" schematic, it's based on an ATmega8 MCU. That is one of the MCUs supported by the SimonK firmware. There's also a QA posting from Aug 2012 by "Disney" indicating his is now running SimonK.
(Would not work if it were one of the newer ESC designs that are based on SiLabs MCUs.)
The latest version I received April 2013 now comes with inline programming pads so installing SimonK firmware is easy. ( I used the Atmel Atmega USB firmware adapter which is even easier) It is all N -FETs so should run cooler than p/n fet esc .

I've already flashed the two I have at the moment and tested them on the bench . Both work we'll with a smooth throttle response without any juddering, as you would expect from a simonk flashed esc.
Hi, I have the same controller and a Prop Drive 35-36 motor. I need to use them in an application not related to RC, so I don't have receiver where to connect the controller to.

I bought one not long ago it allways makes restart and disconnect the motor it beeps in a strange way now I need to buy a new one cheap price = low performance
Bought 2, installed 1, and I found complete programming info elsewhere, so now I have it running fine. Do a search for "50 Amp Esc" and you might find the answers as I did. Don't give up until you have located the programming sheet and set it up properly. Also make sure you supply proper control voltage, as it doesn't have BEC. I started with 6V, and it would beep-out complaints, 4.5V seems to work fine. Just in case you don't want to find the programming info, I will see if it fits in this review: 1. TAKE OFF PROP!!! 2. Turn on Rec, ESC, then Xmit with throttle on full, listen to beeps: 3. Musical tone, then 1 beep indicates that battery type can be programmed. This is repeated three times, then same but 2 beeps, then 3 beeps, 4, 5, and 6, all repeated three times, and it starts all over again. When you hear the one you want, go to 1/2 throttle. Here is what they www.link & Cutoff FIVE=Timing SIX=PWM setting 4. Next you select the choice within that option, with beeps coded to say where you are, again each choice is repeated three times, and when you hear the one you want, go back to full throttle, here they are: (Short-Long) 1-1 = NiCd 1-2 = 7 cell LiPo 1-3 = 6 cell LiPo 1-4 = 5 cell LiPo 1-5 = 4 cell LiPo 1-6 = 3 cell LiPo 1-7 = 2 cell LiPo
2-1 = Auto throttle range 2-2 = 1.1ms to 1.8 ms from Recvr 2-3 = Accelerate Fast 2-4 = Accelerate by ramp-up
3-1 = No brake 3-2 = Soft brake 3-3 = Med

Darn, the programming instructions didn't all fit, here is the rest:
5-1 = 2 to 4 pole motors 5-2 = 6 to 8 pole motors 5-3 = 10 to 14 pole outrunner 5-4 = Hi RPM outrunner (I think >20k)
6-1 = 8 kHz PWM for low RPM 6-2 = 16 kHz for outrunners
When done either: A-Go full throttle to select another B-Go low throttle to end and save and you will get a long beep, and "Bob's your uncle"
Next startup will give 2 beeps to confirm all is OK.
If you know more about the diagnostic beep, please share that with everybody, I could not find a list... Thanks

Be Aware!!!! Default settings are: Battery: 7S Li-Po (25.9V) 21V Cutoff Voltage Throttle: Auto Throttle Range Brake: Soft Brake/Hard Cutoff Timing: 2-4 Pole Inrunner Motors. I would highly recommend to change this to match with your Motor, it used to cutoff at half throttle with my 3800 out runner @ this default setting Sounds easy to hear that it's a plug&play,please do program it as per David Bacon Advised "top" before using it. Salam

Its a good ESC. I use mine with the HXT BEC. It doesnt get hot at all. Im running mine on a suppomodels 2826-6t motor. It pulls about 45 amps WOT with a 4000 12c pack and a 14x7 true APC prop. I will buy a couple more if they ever stay in stock.

I have problems with my ESC, I can´t program, when I put on the beep non stop, I lisen 10 beeps and stop during to 3 seconds and start now to listen 10 beeps.
Please I need help because I don´t know if my ESC function well or no. Somebody have this problem?
