Hello,
who can I set the motor range?

Regards
14/07/2010
Andrew (40%)
Well, looks like I got a bad one... No beeps when I plug in power, and no response on the throttle channel. It powers the receiver just fine, though. I tried the motor on a different system, and it is fine, so I'm pretty sure the ESC is no good.
   Jason (50%)
I am having the same problem with this ESC, I went to do a check of all the systems and everything worked except for the throttle (so it is powering the reciever no problem), and there were no beeps when I pluged the battery into it.

Is my ESC dead or am I doing something wrong?

Is there any way to set the throttle range with this ESC?

scterry (6%)
I have this hooked up to my 2408-21 Tower Pro and an 8.4NiMH battery pack. When I power on ESC with throttle stick all the way down, I get 3 short beeps. This is after I program for NiMH battery pack. If programmed for Lipo pack I get one LONG beep.

ESC is not giving full power to motor. Under WOT with 10X4.7 prop I only get 2.9A * 8.4v. Should be getting 12.5A. All wiring is 16 awg with proper connections.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I also checked it with 2S lipo, and seems to work very well. NiMH still does not work properly.

If you hacve veen playing with the settings, how do you know if you have left the Brake ON or off? There is a audible bootup tone to tell you what battery type it's set for.... however what about the brake?
   bdoets (87%)
Just feel it by hand... there is a big difference turning a prop with or without the brake set.
   jamming101 (46%)
The easiest way to check the brake setting is to run the motor with no prop at about one-half throttle, and then kill the power, if the brake is off, the motor will slowly wind down, but if the brake is on it will immediately stop. But I guess that depends on the size of motor you're using, but with a 20 amp system it should stop pretty fast with the brake on.

I've seen on the 8 Amps ESC comments : I have searched in web an i found that the controller is programmable. Possible options: - LIPO-mode (auto selection 2/3 cells) - NIMH-mode - Break on / off To program this controller you have to move transmitter throttle to full position. Now connect battery to controller. Wait some seconds, than you hear: *peep* - *short pause* - *peep* *pause* *peep*peep* - *short pause* -*peep*peep* *pause* *peep*peep*peep* - *short pause* -*peep*peep*peep* *pause* this sequence will repeat... When you want to use NIHM cells, you have to move throttle to off position when you hear the first *beep*beep*. Than you have to wait for a longer *beeep* and a short *beep*. That's all. You can disconnect battery now. When you want to select LIPO mode, start from the beginning (throttle full, connect battery, listen to the beeps) At the time when you hear the first single *beep* move throttle to off and wait for *beeep* and *beep*. When you want to switch Brake On or Off, start from the beginning, then wait for the first *peep*peep*peep* within one sequence and put throttle to off. Wait for *beeep* and *beep*.

when i put the throttle up full the motor gives me good rpm's for a second and then the throttle slowly starts to drop off without moving the stick
can someone help me please.
   Samir Cury (40%)
Have you tried to start the system with the throttle in 0 ? Just that I've heard that full throttle at the beginning means configuration of the system.

bibiricat (20%)
what kind of connectors does it have?
   Dan (29%)
None!other then the connector to connect it to your RX. You get to choose which ones will work best for your battery and your motor. Once you have decided you get to install them yourself. Hope this helps
   kampj (25%)
only the JR/FUTABA connector, the rest is to be soldered
   jamming101 (46%)
It has no connectors at all, you get only the ESC. It does however have the plug to the radio, but there's no motor or battery connectors of any kind.
   Evandro (Brazil) (34%)
Hi... this ESC doesn't go with connectors. I suggest to buy the connector 2mm (HK) and for the battery XT60 (HK)

Can program this ecs with turnigy program card?
   AlFu (40%)
I'm sorry, no.
   wsc_717131 (34%)
I'm sorry yes. I chose this inexpensive speed controller for my foamys precisely because it could be programmed by the same turnigy card as I use for my Turnigy Plush and Sentry cards. AlFu obviously doesn't have this speed controller and the turnigy card in front of him. If he did he wouldn't be posting misinformation. The Turnigy card DOES work with this speed controller

Is this for Brushed or Brushless motors?
   Jaka (34%)
The controller is for a brushless motor. Observe the three wires!
   onebadhawk (20%)
Brushless
   kampj (25%)
Brushless only!
   glen (45%)
brushless only. two wires to motor, brushed. three wires, brushless.
   Ikarus 99 (50%)
For Brushlessmotors.Have brushed ESC to by.They are cheaper!!!

This unit works with 2.4GHZ Receiver?
   Marcin (50%)
RicardoLuis.

Yes - i am using such two units with assan 2.4GHz receiver. Work perfectly in twin props foamy bomber.
   glen (45%)
yes they do.
   Samir Cury (40%)
I don't think it has to do with the frequency of the receiver, what the receiver delivers to it is a frequency between 500 and 1000 Hz, that's the throttle.

Ken (63%)
The brake default is "on" on the one I got.

mattman (50%)
is there a instruction sheet for this or is it so simple that you don't need one.
   guildy93 (74%)
there are three setups.

put at full throlle and turn on the battery
First - lipo *peep* - *short pause* - *peep*

second - NI-** *peep*peep* - *short pause* -*peep*peep*

third - brake *peep*peep*peep* - *short pause* -*peep*peep*peep*

when you hear the bibs by the second time, just put the throlle down on the setup wanted.

repeat the steps to all the configurations.

bye
   Marcin (50%)
Dear Guildy93.
Your post is very valuable.
Do I underestand right?
If I put throttle to max and connect battery then:
If hear peep short pause peep - it means that ESC is programmed for Lipo (Auto cutoff)?
If hear peep*peep short pause peep*peep - it means that programmed for NiMH - fixed low voltage cutoff.
Then *Peep*peep*peep short pause *Peep*peep*peep* - iy means that brake is on.
How ESC signals that it is programmed for break off?

Moving throttle to min after signal is geard toggles signalled parameter, so lipo to NiMH and break on to off and vice-versa - am i right?

best regards.
   Samir Cury (40%)
It's simple, but I recommend you to search on the 8 Amps item page, someone posted a manual there.
