The G.T. A8 is made in the same factory as the iMAX charger with several important feature differences. Namely, it has different internal resistors and includes a USB plug and temp probe plus software. The G.T. Power A-8 can charge up to 8 cell lipoly packs, and has a maximum of 150W output power. As a result it can charge / discharge up to 8 series cells lithium polymer with a maximum charge rate of 7A.
The A-8 has various programming and charging modes, and can cycle and discharge packs. It will accept and safely charge NiCd,Lilo, Lipo, LiFe, Pb batteries.

Hi again! Finally i had some possible SOLUTION from HK to current and repeat missing parts on this product. After sent photo they answered to me they will ask to supplier a temp sensor and then they will contact again! NOTHING was said about USB cable and CD rom.. But let's wait and we will see later how everything will work. For now it is already a first step to solution! REDMACHINE.
RAFAEL, Did you received all items?? A lot of people complain (myself also) not receive CD rom plus temp sensor plus usb cable. BUT NO ONE till today said what solution HK gave to this fault!! I also complained and they ask a "PHOTO" of item!! PHOTO???? To prove what??? IS MISSING parts, nothing damage! But ok i will give a picture of the item they are selling (for sure they dont know what they are selling) and of course... i will put inside photo a PATATOE, for sure it will prove something about that missing parts!!! Please... let me know if you received all parts. I will try to be the FIRST to present HK solution for this constant problem! Thanks!

Why no one answer to the question: "missing temperature sensor and cd rom" ? I also had same problem! Does anybody received some explanation from HK? It's a lot of people with same problem!! Who can help? Thanks!
My computer doesnt recognize this charger. I installed a Logview and drivers from Silicon Labs and still no success. It seems that COM ports are to be on on my computer, so that I can select port and device in Logview.
Can anybody help?
You probably do not need it. CD contains very old drivers (no support for modern operating systems) and a silly software. Just download LogView and maybe the Silicon Labs driver. Then follow one of the many instalation how-tos.

If you know how to plug 2S balancer connector in the answer is yes.
At 7A it should take ~30 minutes if battery is not overdischarged or worn.
You need minimum 70W PSU.

I use more NICD -NIMh but I want to be inside Lipo, LiFe, Pb batterys, so any suggestion is very welcome, I am thinking in order the GT Power A8 8 cells Balancer-charger, is a good choise? I have had one of these chargers,for about two years, whilst discharging a 4000 4s lipo using the correct settings and procedure a wire link on the pcb fused. This is one of a hoop shaped wire, just below the fan, can anyone tell me the proper name for it and its value and where I can get a replacement.????
Hi I have a problem with this charger, it shows on the screen processor malfunction when try to discharge or store a lipo battery, and the trouble is that the current to do so raises to 7 AMPS. What to do ???? it is something to calibrate ????.
The other problem is that the cells voltages doesn´*t appear to be equal, so it damages the lipos , how can calibrate the voltage/current to individual cells ????
It is posible to calibrate the total voltage, but independly for each cell ???? how to do it ????

OK I wish to buy 7s packs ( Turnagy ) for some reason all turnagy packs have one straight bar for the balance plug BUT the 7 sell packs have two separate plugs for the balancer However on the GT power A8 charger, the 7 cell balance port is a straight bar. So before I buy 7 cell packs that I cannot balance. I wish to know how I can make it work with this charger? If I were to plug one of the balance leads in the 4cell port and one in the 3 cell port to balance all 7 cell during charging would this work? or would the charger quit sensing that as a fault? OR if there is a adapter plug needed were can I find it and which one?
Hi, i bought A8 to charge 2 turnigy nanotech 6000mah 2s but there aren't connettor to balance 2 cells, why? In battery there is a connector with 3 pin but in charger there is only 4 pin in over.
Please help me.
I solved buy a JSP XH balance connector for 3s and i use this configuration ( red wire ( ) | i add wire "yellow" and i connect at red to 2° pin | balance wire of battery | black wire (-))
Now charge and balance.
hi, i bought the a8 to charge my zippy life packs 4s 8400mah, but i noticed that the charger let some cells exceeding 3,6v (til 3,68) even if it was in balance mode! is it normal??? i had to stop the charge!!!
your right they do, just make sure that you buy one so you don't have to up grade soon and buy another one. hers one you can check out that has a lot of features and it will charge up to 8cell lithium and at a charge rate of 20amps.
How's the quality on this thing? I just blown up my Prolux Digi 104 after around 250 cycles and need a new one. I charge big fat packs (6S 5Ah and so, at 1C rate).
Is it better than the Accucel-8 or am I better off waiting for the Accu to be in stock?
Yes this will charge your LI-On battery at that plus if you would want to. This is a great charger for the price. Just watch charging your batteries at max volts.

getestet an lipos bis 6s, nimh 12z, ladeströme bis 4,8amp. viele nützliche funktionen, prima interner balancer, genaue spannungsmessung, ungenaue strom-/kapazitätsmessung: gehen ca. 7pcnt vor. achtung: mag keinen externen balancer => überladungsgefahr!

Great price, great functionality, many connectors, magnetic temperature sensor. However... Electrical parameters are slightly exaggerated. Charger has no chance to stand 150 W of power dissipation – its case is very compact, the extractor fan is tiny and somewhat noisy. Device contains 15 W discharge circuit (3 resistors, 5 W each). Auto charging program for NiMH/NiCd is mysterious. I can't figure out stop conditions (except temperature level – a nice sensor btw). Need proper description. No trickle charging signalization? I also spotted a small (as yet) malfunction during NiMH discharge/charge cycling – garbled display, a reset was needed (power off, power on). No problems with charging/balancing LiPos. Very good accuracy. Charger software (Monitor ver. 1) is a little bit primitive and it has a long way to become user-friendly. It misinforms about some user settings (time limit, trickle charge, etc.).

I purchase two A8 chargers with the objective of charging 4s, 5s, 2x3s and 2x4s simultaneously.
As return of experience I can say A8 is an excellent charger accurate and easy to use but impossible to find JST XH connectors to charge 2x 4s Lipos as we can with 2x 3s. So it is most convenient to purchase a less expensive A6.
After One month I had a problem with one charger. I hope HC will solve the problem...

Very impressed with this - again superb price from H/C. The display is HUGE, and I can read it very easily. The balancing functiuon seems a little more accurate than the Imax 8 which I also rated very highly for the money. Only thing against this unit is the lack of power in socket to use an external PSU....you HAVE to use the big heavy cords and croc clips supplied. Temperature probe works fine, but as yet not tried the data lead /software.
