I purchased this product. it works very well and everything arrived. I fly the plane now with a 1500 mAh battery. only is the hole where the battery must be small. so I made the hole bigger. I urge you not to over 1500 mAh battery to buy it fly. I think it is too heavy and you need to cut the hole too much. It is a very beautiful and good beginner plane.

Okay im sitting here with some stuff in my cart and as im adding things to it i continually check the shipping cost. Now after adding 2 Cessnas and some batteries one of my shipping choices is this:
USPS Priority Mail 2-3 Days (Shipped from USA).
Since im ordering from the USA im at a loss of whether i can choose this as a shipping option.

Hi I put flaps on but but had such a massive pitch up that the elevator couldn't counteract it. I stalled and crashed, (a bit slow to react). So I would do it again, but add just a LITTLE flap at a time. Will post photo of how I did it if you wish...

Hi, there is no problem to adjust the battery compartment to suit your needs because it is placed on bottom of the hull. Just stick your battery to the bottom with the gum, find proper CG by moving the battery and then cut unnecessary foam. I use Flightmax 1300mah in this plane.

If the prop you are using dosen't fit on the shaft you can fit it on by gluing a bolt inside the propeller and if the spinner dosne't fit you don't need it wile flying.

The 3s means that there are 3 cells in Series giving you 11.1v. If it said 3s2p then you would have 2 lots of 3 Series cells in Parallel, that is a total of 6 cells. 3s1p just means you have 3 cells in series total. The number of p Parallel sets just gives you more available current, it does not affect the voltage.

Guys, I'm experiencing a problem with my propeller/engine too. I finally got it started today and to my surprise the plane flew backwards. I changed the propeller so it faced the other way and it still went backwards. My engine spins to the left of the plane, I reckon if it spun to the right it would fix the problem: is there a way to reverse the way the engine spins or do I have to buy a propeller that is designed to spin to the left? :) I just want my plane to go forward! haha

How do ailrons work with 2 servos to receiver. Does this plane need 4 or 5 channels??
|
|
|
| |
|
mirceacul
(69%)
You have to use a Y cable. It goes to one receiver channel and to both servos. This is the simpler method, but not the best. If you have a computerized TX, it's best to use 2 channels (1 for each servo) and mix them. This way you can trim your servo individualy and also you can make mixes like flaperon if needed. Taking in consideration this model you can use without any problems the Y cable o single channel.

You can used the replacement shaft from the tower pro 2410 motor - ***********unitedhobbies****/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=5274
Also, try using one of these props - APC style propeller 9x6-E , They draw slightly more watts then the stock prop on the bench, but in the air the plane gets a longer flight time and goes even faster then the stock prop. It is the perfect prop for this plane.

Make sure the servo connectors are in the right way round. The speed controller will beep like that if it doesn't get the right signal. ie the throttle has to be at low for the speed controller to arm.

You have to cut away part of the tail section above the slot where the horizontal stab goes (all the way to the rear). You'll need to remove about 1" of foam so the elevator will deflect up all the way.

Thank you Takly - I see your point exactly, switching is what I might have to do. I'm just not that comfortable about soldering I guess... There was some talk about Hobbyking switching to a new "standard" plug also, and it's not deans.. So if I am going to change the plugs I would like to have that exact type, so I don't have to solder anything every time I buy a new battery !
I had already checked both Parts & Accs, and Skyartec website, but without much luck, but thanks for your input anyway !
At the moment my flying is a little limited, so 2 batteries keeps me going very well, but will have to do something about this problem sooner or later. Maybe just order a bunch of bullet connectors and solder, but would prefer to have the new standard from HobbyKing.. It kind of sucks that plugs often don't even show in battery pictures...

An update on battery-connectors: The 3.5mm gold connectors (bullet connectors) from HobbyKing are the same as the ones used in this cessna. I have not seen any batteries here that come with these. The plastic protector is different, and better than the ones on the plane, so one might as well change it.
So I guess soldering, and the occasional burning of fingers is a necessary evil to keep this great bird flying !

I just changed my batteries and planes over to the EC3 plug. It's the blue one ith 2ea 3.5 bullet type connectors. It seems to be the up and coming standard plug. Not hard to solder but you should use a 40 watt soldering iron.

Good for you Daniel!
I also use EC3's & EC5's, but not all of my whole fleet of rotary & fixed wing has been converted yet.
A long time ago, I had a difficult time soldering EC3's by following the e-flte website. The solder just wouldn't stick. But after developing my own method it's now much much easier and no more cold solders!
Personally, I prefer the EC3's over the XT60 couplers as the EC3 has been an industry standard much longer than the XT and plus, disconnecting the EC3 is easier due to better gripping on the plastics.
Who knows? After the XT60, there will be a newer standard connector. When will it end?

I've had this plane for about a month now, and am very happy with it. But I have a simple problem - the battery connectors that come with the original battery, can I get more of them anywhere ? I have other batteries with different connectors that I'd like to use with this plane...

I've not been in the game long, Frank, but one of the first lessons I learned was to buy one type of plug (such as Deans) and stick to them across the board. The first thing I do with a new battery now is dice off the stock connectors and fit Deans plugs.
I can't recall what the stock Skyartec battery connector looks like, but from memory, it wasn't a 'standard'. Perhaps switching to Deans or bullet plugs may be easier for you in the long run. It just takes a few minutes of soldering per battery & esc to standardise your gear :D
If you wish to stick with the stock plug, I recommend checking out HobbyCity's "Parts & Accs." menu, then go to "Plugs/Wire etc..." to see if anything looks like it may fit. Alternatively, try www dot skyartec dot com (Skyartec's website, obviously) to see if they happen to sell the plugs separately. Good luck!

I used the 4mm pack of 10 pairs. They soldered easily onto ECS and LIPO wires if you put plenty of heat into plug when lightly gripped vertically in a tiny vice. When hot insert the wire and hold in place for a few secs while blowing on it. GOOD TIP: slide a couple of inches of drinking straw over the wires at connection - saves shorting your electrics

Does it have steerable front wheel? And does it already have a spar in the wing or is it just a popular upgrade? Has anyone loaded it with 250-300 gramms of extra load, how does she handle it? I plan to use it for FPV, i currently use a similar cessna (art tech) but with non-steerable front gear and its a pain in the neck to take off or land. Also does it have a servo for each aileron? What's 4 servos for if not?

Yup, it comes with one steerable, flippable, easily bent front wheel *) i actually ended up changig the position of the control horns in closer on the servo arm just to tame it a little. I recommend removing the wheel pants and replacing the wheels themselves unless you're mad keen for the scale looks. I put on a set of the fluoro green 40mm 5spoke wheels available on HC and she can comfortably land and taxi on short grass (cricket pitch/football field etc). Before replacing the wheels, I won 1st prize in the "Nosing Over" contest every weekend. so much so that i've had to slice open the vertical stab and throw in a carbon rod to stop the flex! Sadly I no longer receive that honour *)
As for weight, i put a medium sinker in the front To balance her out, but found she lost her floatiness, especially on final. As i've changed the wheels, i might try it again.
This baby has 2 aileron servos, 1 for nose wheel and rudder and 1 for elevators.

Uhh... by horn i meant clevis, of course. It also comes with a rod installed in the wings. I'm considering some struts also, because the flex is crazy during a loop o heavy turns. Recommend replacing the nylon Wing bolts with metal ones if you're going to push her. I only noticed mine were stressed after removing the wings to change receivers.

Read up a few lines and you'll get various answers. I use Turnigy 3s 1300mAh 20-30c. They're a tight fit into the stock compartment, but a great battery. Easily get 15 min flights varying between some pattern flying and throwing in some fairly aggressive aerobatics.

The Turnigy 13 Mah 20C 3S is the best. It's tight to fit in the battery compartment but the plane is a rocket with it and it's light enough to glide with. My friend and I get 20 min flights out of it easily and it doesn't even get warm.

Hi everyone! is it possible to use a foldable prop on this cessna?the description is below.
Folding Propeller w/ Alloy hub - 8x6 Machined alloy hub. 2~2.3mm Colet style shaft adapter. Weight: 32g

the motor's shaft is 3mm. So you have to find a spinner that fits 3mm shaft. Don't see why not to use a folding prop. In my plane i cut the shaft to fit a prop saver. I think it's better than the spinner for beginners.

Be careful, it flies much faster than it looks. It demands very fast response from pilot, by pitch and by elerons. Pay attention, please. It's a "Cessna rocket" :)
Then, it depends of thrust. More thrust - nose up, less thrust - nose down. So, hand launch must be done running, and throwing a little up, to give a plane initial speed. Else, it will dig into earth and beat it's nose.

Probably, the dimensions of the battery compartment will be useful: 70x39, h=36 mm

Hi guys, I received it and seems that a quarter of an hour is enough to be RTF. Every thing seems in tact. I pluged the battery and the ESC plays a song. Is it possible to quit this by the TX-stick instead of using a programming card? Anybody ho can answer?? Many thanks.

When it starts to play the tune, move the tx throttle stick up a little and the music will stop - no need to get the Turnigy programming card unless you like to.

After hooking up the receiver and the battery all the servos work, but the speed controller continues to beep and the engine won't turn. The battery is charged above 12 volts. What might be the problem?

Hi Timothy, try this trick, it works for most speed controllers, putt your throttle to full, turn on your transmitter, plug the battery into the speed controller, wait for the first beep then pull your throttle back to zero, this should set the throttle range for the speed controller. I hope this gets you in the air mate.

How long does it take for it to arrive to the USA with Air Parcel shipping?

Air Parcel takes from 6 - 45 days depending on the volume of parcels going out and any holidays. The busier they are the longer you wait. Also us customs can hold an item for inspection. The shortest wait including "processing" time at HC I have had was 8 days. The longest was 21 days, one of the items I ordered that time was out of stock. Overall for the distances the package is traveling and the cost of these items I think it is well worth the wait....
