can use this charger a power notebook?
 Levchenko 8 points
If the idea is to charge notebook, it is no. If you want to use notebook power adapter - you must check output voltage, current and power socket of you notebook power adapter.
 Giovani 23 points
quero saber se posso usar fonte de notebook neste carregador.
 Levchenko 8 points
If you want to use the power adapter from the laptop - you need to check the parameters of the power adapter. Adapters with most laptops will not work.

On your picture it looks differently from official web site of SkyRC - your one has two (red and black) wires on left side whereas official picture has only a socket and no wires. Why? Is this unit really ORIGINAL? Does it have protective label on the back side? Thanks.
 Paul 1 points
I have one and yes it has the label. The wires are not permanently attached they are removable and they do not come plugged in by default. HK no doubt took the photo of just the unit.

"When parallel charging lipos, simply add the capacities together, in this case 9000 mAh. This is a 50W charger, so with a 3S pack it is capable of delivering 50 W / 11,1 V = 4.5A. That means about 0.5C for this battery setup."

Sir, I would like to ask you a question. I have a battery pack which is made of 2 x series battery and 3 x parallel,
(2S3P. They are all 3.7V and 3000mAh lithium battery 18650.

my question is will I be able to charge the whole pack which wil be 7.4 V and 9000mAh at once, just as you described above?

50W/7.4V=6.76. which means 0.75C

is it correct???
Thanks

Hello. You can charge the battery. While charging, do not forget to change the settings IMAX B6 .( off timer and maximum battery capacity)

Is this charger suitable for Charge/Discharge "ZIPPY Flightmax 1300mAh 3S1P 20C" ( http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__6308__ZIP
PY_Flightmax_1300mAh_3S1P_20C.html
)? Does the AC to DC adapter comes with this charger? If NO, what is the input current mast be for it?
 Jakub 41 points
Yes, this charger is suitable for this battery. This Charger don't have AC/DC adapter. If you want buy charger with AC input please search for "PRODUCT ID: B6AC". The input current depends on battery which you wan't to charge and how many amps you are using. The instruction manuals says input DC 11~18V and max Charge power 50 Watts. I'm using 12V DC from my PC (molex plug). For 3s batteries it is enought.

I wonder if I can use it to charge ordinary rechargeable AA batteries as well? *-) Or it is very RC-specific?
 hermit81 1641 points
it is very RC-specific

Grab a suitable battery holder off eBay and make yourself a bannana lead to suit the IMAX. Hope this helps.

How do I tell if the damn thing is charging?? I set it to nimh. charge. turned the amp up to 1.2 and hit start. ?????
 Jakub 41 points
you have to setup all required information like cells number, battery type, operation (charging), and amps. After that press start button for few seconds. After that you should see charging time, battery voltage and curent amps.

Hi all, I have a question. Suppose I have 3x 3c 3000mah lipo packs I want to parallel charge. Can I parallel charge them using this charger with a full 5A output? Does this mean that each battery will charge at a rate of 1.66A? I currently have a 500W PSU (from a computer) that's capable of 25A on the 12V rail. Please let me know as I am confused.
 sir_ogrim 1 points
When parallel charging lipos, simply add the capacities together, in this case 9000 mAh. This is a 50W charger, so with a 3S pack it is capable of delivering 50 W / 11,1 V = 4.5A. That means about 0.5C for this battery setup.

Hello Thomas. Buy Male XT60 <-> Female T-Connector (ID: 601A-XTTB) XT60 to T-Connector Battery Adapter Lead (ID: 258000018) Or buy and make yourself Nylon T-Connectors 10 Pairs (ID: 606A-606B) Nylon XT60 Connectors Male/Female they also need for speed controllers

Just purchased this charger but I have XT60 connectors on my turnigy batteries. There a cable that I need to buy because doesn't come with any?
 neilton 2 points

I assume that you have a very weak power supply and charging currents >1A he just major settling and charger gives an error on the input power.

is it possible to charge the Turnigy 3000mAh 4S 20C Lipo Pack off this charger?
 nilshv 1 points
I might be wrong, but i am pretty sure you can. You just set the battery to lipo, voltage (4s = 14,8v) and charge (remember to always use balanced charging). you might have to modify the charge cord, my zippy battery have a xt60, and this comes with the old T conection, so remember to buy xt60 connectors

hi can i use this charger for ZIPPY Flightmax 2200mAh 5S1P 40C(18.5v)or higher voltaje batteries?
 hermit81 1641 points
this charger can charge batteries from 1-6 cells. but the higher the voltage of the battery - the lower the charge current! for 5 cells - better choose another charger.

Can i use this Version with the monitoring Software LogView?
 LeszekJ 793 points
Yes, however you need PRODUCT ID: iMAX-Softkit to enable USB connection.
iStorm  6 points - 5/5/2013

It is not good idea ) Batteries have different inner resistance in any case (even in case of same capacity). It's impossible to set right current in this case
 QuadSB 430 points
Hi iStrom, presumably you are replying to capitansalomon's question below, regarding charging multiple packs? Whilst I agree that it is possible for the internal resistences to differ, I would say that it would generally make little to no difference. Unless you are charging a brand new pack and a 5 year old crash damaged pack, I doubt that you will see significant problems at all. Hey I could be wrong, I'm sure that everyone feels comforatable treating their packs differently, this is just my opinion.
 QuadSB 430 points
BTW, I meant to also say that if the cells across the same pack aren't reasonably similar, then you will deifinitely have trouble. But you would notice issues with the pack itself, before you introduced it to parallel charging. My apologies also iStorm, for mistyping your name before!
capitansalomon  13 points - 5/5/2013

Is it enough to charge 4s Li-Po?
 LeszekJ 793 points
Luis, you are incorrect. Jonee, 12V*3.3A=39.6W* 39.6W*80%(charger efficiency)=31.7W* 31.7W/16.8V(LiPo 4S max voltage)=1.9A* It should work if you won't set current higher than 1.9A. I suggest 1.5A for safety.
jonee  2 points - 5/4/2013

I have one adapter with output 12v/3.3a does it works with this charger?
 LeszekJ 793 points
It may work, it may not - it depends on what you want to charge. Slightly too weak if you want be sure of your setup. You need 12V DC, 5A at least.
 Luis 53 points
Yes, but you won't be able to draw more than 3.3A
Walter Maximiliano  1 points - 5/3/2013

Hi, to connect this type of battery there are two options. Rocking mode: connect the small connector white (JST-XH) to the corresponding output, and through the connectors supplied (you have to use a combination with crocodile connectors at the end) connect the large connector (XT60) battery. Fast charge mode: similar to the previous one that does not connect the JST-XH.
 Adi 2 points
As I understand from reading the manual, one needs to connect both the balancing plug AND the charging plug. Wouldnt it be safer to use xt60 to banana type cable?
 QuadSB 430 points
Rocking mode??? As Adi suggests, you should connect both the balance port and the charge/discharge lead. It's much safer to use the correct adaptor lead for the job also. Hope this helps.

24 thumbs up!
Not a bad charger, has some good features and it's not pricey. Does not have precise measuring like my other charger but is good enough and within the specified range. Display of my B6 had developed a fault after only 16 uses. Got a replacement after spending fair amount of time and money. I would recommend e-Station BC-6, BC-8 or Mega Power Infinity-960SR instead of this medium quality product.

Very good charger with only one problem: balancer is not accurate. Have found the problem ( 1 percent resistors used instead of 0.1 percent resistors). I am in contact with SkyRC about a possible improvement in the design.

But as said, besides the balancer incaccuracy this is a great product!

Nice charger. It will be pesrfect and complet with a proper balance function. Unfortunatelly the cell are unbalanced to the tune of 0.1V and this is to much. I end up using an external balancer. I hope to fix it in the future with the proper rezistors.

This is just IMAX charger. It's cheap, but all of them suffer the same problem. Voltages they report differ from reality. My charger shows 4.20V on all cells when there is 4.19V, 4.17V, 4.21V, 4.16V, 4.22V, 4.27V. The last value is much too high.
So before you buy one - read threads on rcgroups.com describing how to make it more reliable (resistors change and/or charger calibration).

@John Cook: B5 suffers the same problem.
