Hello!
does someone can help me?.
I bought a Turnigy Typhoon 500H Heli Motor 1800kv (500 Class)
that working with this speed controller and I can not start operating on verysoft mode. already bought a Turnigy programming card and result is the same.
Thank you.
   gnaguy (80%)
I am facing the same difficulty with the Typhoon 500 H motor connecteed to a different ESC (Copter X 70A):Impossibility to program a soft start of the motor. Besides, I read many remarks about the motor, which KV is higher than what indicated by the manufacturer. I have not find the solution yet.
   georpo (67%)
The super soft start just delays 2 seconds from zero to desired throttle as written in the manual. 2 seconds is very little time. You cannot do anything about that. It does not get any better. Just be gentle with your throttle when spinning up. Besides that, it is a very good speed control.

A question
I have this ESC and a turnigy 2836 motor with 3 Black wires....
How the hell i will connect theM!!!
   novost (12%)
Easy! Just connect them in any order then check rotation. If incorrect swap any 2 wires!
   Micah (20%)
Just hook them up in any order. If the motor turns backwards switch any two of them.
   Philipp (28%)
Hello Take 3 or 4 mm Gold- Contact pin`s. Then connect the Motor with the ESC and check the direction of rotation. when it works wrong, you change 2 of this 3 Pins, to change the direction. ( Sorry for my English ) Regards Phi
   pavcon (10%)
it doesn't matter.
any wire can go anywhere. IF your blades rotate the other way suckiing air instead of pushing then change ANY 2 wires of those 3
   rsx123 (0%)
in any arbitrary order, if wrong direction exchange 2 wires
   Dareba (30%)
Connect these wires on the ESC. If you rotate the engine will be reversed Throw between any two wires. The hell:-)
   JonesRC (45%)
Brushless motors use three wire system. Start connecting them in any order, test to see which direction prop runs. If incorret move any two wires and rotation will change. I use in ESC's HXT tree plug connectors and on motors single ones.
   hlcvbeek (45%)
It doesn't matter which wires you connect from motor to ESC. If the motor turn's in the wrong direction only switch to wires from the motor and the problem is solved.
   ALCARAFA (75%)
You have to solder bullet conectors to each black wire and also to engine wires (3) ,connect them and start the motor, if it spins the wrong way just unplug two of them and change positions.
   sikky (69%)
plug them in and find out rotation -swicth if it is going the wrong way!
   legion (60%)
connect all, if the motor runs in reverse change 1 wire
   William (34%)
Just connect all three wire to the ESC. Check rotation of motor. If it turns in the correct direction then everything is ok. If it turns in the wrong direction just swap any two of the wires with each other. In other words 1,2 and 3 black goes to 1,2 and 3 red onthe esc. If it turns the wrong way then leave 1 connected to 1 and change black 2 to red 3 and red 3 to black 2. Hope that makes sense.
   Tieto (57%)
It really doesn't matter.. Connect the three wires to the ESC and make the motor spin (without prop maybe). If it's going the wrong direction, just switch any two wires.
   Mr Ed (19%)
It doesn't matter how you connect them. If the motor runs backward, change two of the wires around and it will run the other way.
   Coyote64 (-31%)
You guess, then if motor spins wrong way swap only two of the wires, the motor will now spin the other way. Thats why they are all one colour so you can have motor spinning which ever way you want *)
   geronsky (25%)
Hey. It doesnt matter. Connect them how you want. If the motor isnt turning in right direction just swap 2 wires.
There is no polarity on output of ESC, so you cant do anything wrong.
   hobbyking (46%)
You can't do something wrong! Put them together, if the motor turns the wrong way switch two wires. That's all. Cheerio REMO
   Cord (28%)
First connect all and let the mototr turn slow, check the direction. If it turns wrong, change only two wires! thats all.
   JonesRC (45%)
Hi gc9n23,
Connect those 3 wires in what ever order to motor. Test and if motor rotates wrong direction. Switch any 2 wires and rotation will change.
Good motor wire connector is 3.5mm 3 wire Bullet-connector for motor (5pairs/bag)
. Link http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=10255&Product_Name=3.5mm_3_wire_Bullet-connector_for_motor_(5pairs/bag).

But remember to test before soldering as wires are pulled through this connector.
WBR JonesRC
   mentorpilot (48%)
You have to put gold connectors on the cables.
   Gaetan Boivin (50%)
There is no danger. Try something, and if it is not in the right direction, change one wire with another. That's all.
   artg111 (77%)
Just plug the 3 motor wires an the 3 ESC wires together if the motor runs in the wrong direction swap just 2 of the wires with each other.
   Nate5583 (62%)
just hook them up to the motor in any order if it spins the wrong way just pick any 2 wires and switch them
   gnaguy (80%)
First you try anyway to connect the 3 wires of the esc to the 3 wires of the motor. If the rotation direction is not expected, just invert the connection of 2 wires.

I'm just seeking reassurance. Has anyone used this with 6 cells and 3-4 standard servos or should I disable the bec and use a separate Rx battery
   GoStevO (56%)
i use this speed controller in a 1500mm Gee Bee R3 with 4 standard servos - nerver had problems with the BEC - speed controller provides a 3A BEC - should be enough for 4 standard servos

i have this one but haven't started building my 500 heli as hobbyking did not send the tail part of my ordered HK-T500. What a ****.
   Philipp (28%)
I use this ESC in a HK 500 GT. I use a 6 Cell Lipo and 4 Standart Digital Servos. ( 3x MG 930 1x MKS High speed ) It works perfect. Regards Phi
   JonesRC (45%)
No need for separate Rx battery. I use 6S with plush 60amp ESC and works fine. Even if battery is really empty and motor don't run anymore receiver and servos will still have power to run. JonesRC
   hlcvbeek (45%)
I'm using a 6S battery en normal MG930 servo's without any problem. Also my tail servo MKSDS8910 run s well with this ESC without using a step down voltage regulator.
   Mr Ed (19%)
I would never try and run the BEC with a 6S battery. I use a NeMah battery and disable the BEC on mine.
   geronsky (25%)
Im gonna used this one with 5S and 5 servos and will use external BEC.
   Chris (15%)
I have one of these on a 40 size plane using standard high speed servos all round. I have no problems at all with this device. Under load, the BEC voltage doesn't vary at all, the ESC doesn't even get warm. My motor is a Hyperion Z4020/10 creating around 1000W, the plane is a Hyperion Extra 260, flying weight around 2.5Kg. I use 2X3 cell 2600 mAh lipos in series and get over 10 min flying time.
   Mcdyvie (67%)
I use 4S and 3 HS82MG servos and use an UBEC. They cost five bucks and take less than five minutes to install, is your plane not worth that much??? It is just cheap insurance...

Hello,

I've this TURNIGY Plush 80A w/ UBEC Speed Controller connected to a Typhoon 500 motor. As soon as I connect the power to the ESC, the motor starts beeping according the sequence mentioned in the ESC manual. It seems taht he will never exit the programming mode and therefor the won't deo anything at all. I tried a lot. Reverse the throttle setting om my transmitter without any positive result. Can someone help me out? What ESC settings are you using?

I have one that did the same thing till I reprogrammed it to soft cut off and the start to norm. Seems OK now but the plane is still in the build process. Vic Koenig USA
   pavcon (10%)
reprogram your throttle stick.

Full throttle at start then full back.. wait fot the other beep. d/c both plane and turn off Tx. Then restart TX and reconnect the power on your typhoon.
continues beeps might also occur when the wrong battery is used
   Rune (34%)
Did you set trottle at full speed the first time you connected it til the battery? This will set the trottle range. Worked for me! :)
   hlcvbeek (45%)
It is solved now. Thanks for all your advice. The problem was that the trimming was not set to minimum so the ESC couldn't detect minimum position.
Thanks!!

If it is beeping when you turn it on and won't exit programming mode, try to recalibrate throttle range by turning on with tx on and in WOT position, wait for the confimation beeps and then take to low throttle position. This worked for me.
   sikky (69%)
Turn on the tx full throttle plug in esc wait for 2 beeps then go to off to set throttle setting for off to full....

8s?? yes.. too much
   rsx123 (0%)
progr. cut off low voltage = 2,6 V ok for a123 , but 8 cells? fully charged lipo 6 x 4,2V = 25,2 V, fully charged A123 7 x 3,6V = 25,2 V

   coriolan (28%)
On Futaba transmitters the trottle channel has to be reversed to allow start-up
   Coyote64 (-31%)
Have you got a programmable ESC card ? You need to set it up with that to write to eprom memory. It will let you change timing soft start battery cells etc. You need to setup throttle after that. Switch heli on with throttle stick at max, unit beeps, then return throttle to minimum. The unit beeps again registerring throttle travel

does anybody know what timing should I set for my torque 4016T-500 extremeflight motor? I already crashed my extra when hovering with low timing. Already repaired my Extra and dont know what timing should I set, the medium or high. Pls Help!. Thanks

Start with medium, if you get motor 'squealing' then change to high. Ground test first.

why did it crash frist, over amped? You should look into why so we can or you can fix it.

   fire42 (73%)
I use the sentilon 100 on a z50-22S and its fine. DO put this one on high timing to avoid the dreaded screeching and timing loss. Reading between the lines the turnigy's possibly use the same processor so the issue maybe across the range. Should be fine though

Is this ESC has a governor mode ?

Finaly i tried it on one of my helis :
-> yes it has a governor mode !
Just set it with programming card.

Throttle settings are :
Normal : 00% 80% 80% 80% 80%
Idle1 : 80% 80% 80% 80% 80%
Idle2 : 85% 85% 85% 85% 85%

This governor mode on my Tunergy Push 80 works very fine with my T-Rex 500 6S A123 - Scorpion HK3036 - 1900kV - pinion 13T. The rpm are very constant.

Flight time is the same than my previous config without governor mode.

I'll do the same with my T-Rex 450 PRO 3S A123 but this time with Tunergy Push 60 who has got governor mode too.

does it matter how the three wires hook up to turnigy motor or do you just plug them in until the motor spins in the right direction?

Plug the wires together in any order, if it doesn't turn the way you want, swap any 2 wires and the rotation will reverse.

Any ideas what timing mode I should use when programming the ESC ?

I had this ESC hooked to a Turnigy SK 50-55-58 with 2 Rhino 4900mAh 3s wired in series. On Saturday, after a full throttle take-off, I started a right aileron turn, then lost all servo response. With my Futaba 6 channel 2.4 GHtz radio system, the only thing I can contribute this to, is the BEC on this controller. My plane was a total loss. Has anyone else had this experience?

With 6S on this ESC you should ALWAYS RUN A UBEC...no matter how many servos you run. I reckon with a big bird like that you had at least 4 servos, maybe six? Too much for the BEC.

I have the 80 amp plush esc to be used in a HET F20 with 1000 watt motor, 5 servos and 6s pack. Will I need an external BEC?
   Beaufighter (25%)
Most likely:) I would not use internal bec for anything over 4S batteries, as it is linear and will strain circuit considerably.

Anyway, your servo ampdraw in such a plane must be close to or above 3A?

i have this controller on a 50-55A motor also of turnigy, i connect the controller it works, but when i am at 1/2 throttle the motor is running at full throttle, this is very annoying to fly!! is my controller broke are do i have to change settings in my transmitter. please reply Gilles
   Beaufighter (25%)
Your "throttle range" is set wrong. Power TX, throttle to full, power rx/esc, "BEEP BEEP", close the throttle, several "BEEPS", followed by a long "BEEP", go fly:) Do this every time you use a new ESC, RX, or TX.

Someone in the reviews wrote he's using this ESC with 8 A123s in series. Look at the reviews.

I tried it, but with 8S A123 fully loaded it does beep-beep, beep-beep... and no initialization. According to the user manual it's normal because of too high voltage. If i discharge my pack, the ESC initializes.
Does anyone know a solution to avoid discharging the pack?

Just remove the red wire (pull it out of the plug and insulate it), you don't have to cut it if you don't want..
