RC Sailboat Surmount (AUS Warehouse)

RC Sailboat-Surmount
A beautifully crafted R/C sailboat, fully built and ready to run.
All required items are installed, including mainsail winch, steering servo and all rigging, sail and hardware. All you need to do is add your own receiver and battery!
Boat hull is based entirely on an ocean going racing yacht and moulded in fibreglass with a perfect gelcoat and enamel painted finish.
Don't be mistaken in thinking these boats are slow and boaring. In a stiff breeze they can be extremely quick and perform turns rapidly, proving to be very exciting.

A friend recently bought on my behalf (- now a member), a "Surmount R/C 800". 1/ I have finally unpacked the kit only to find no keel fin extension, keel bulb yes but no keel fin. What are my options? 2/ As suggested by you if lead shot is not suitable, then what are the options for 1.2 kg ballast. do you supply alternatives?

Problem is that being a model it wont work if they build Australia 2 true to scale, if these boast were true to scale the draft depth of the real boat would be about 30 foot. I read it somewhere exactly why scaling down exactly dosnt work, so a scaled down Australia 2 would look very strange to make it a usable RC boat

A great smaller boat from the Shunbo group. It has all the exact same electronics and general fittings as the others and is overall a great boat for those with limited space.

Do yourself a favour and check out the user reviews, mods etc at shipshapercDOTcom (an Aussie website too!)

Bought one of these about a month back.

This is the Mk II Surmount (larger keel bulb) - the bulb will weigh in at about 980 grams when filled with No 8 lead shot.

A great boat, nicely finished and sails well, even in heavy conditions.
Recommended alterations:
1) Add some flotation
2) Tape the hatch before sailing otherwise it WILL leak (white electrical tape is great and looks good)
3) Add a bit of plastic as a protective screen above rudder servo, stops the mainsail sheet getting tangled in the rudder servo.

My favourite boat!!!! Might buy another one so I can race myself
