The Turnigy Accucel 6 Balance Charger utilises quality FET's and resistors to accurately balance and charge Lithium Polymer and NiMH batteries. The Accucel-6 will handle LiPo/LiFe up to 6S and NiMH/NiCd up to 15S and shows individual cell voltage during charge with realtime updates throughout the charge cycle. The intuitive menu system means charging and cycling is an easy process and can be done quickly and accurately either at the field by using a 12v input such as a car battery or at home with a 12v power supply. Bundled with the Accucel-6 is a bunch of input and output wires which should satisfy any charging requirement.
ATTENTION. There are several chargers now entering the China market that look similar to the Accucel. These chargers are produced with cheaper FET's and are unfortunately much less accurate and very unsafe. There has been reports of the copied chargers over-charging packs and not balancing correctly. The Accucel-6 is the first charger in the market with this PCB layout Circuit design. Any charger with the same circuit diagram is most definitely a copy. We have tested the copied chargers ourselves, their componentry is of a very low quality and the manufacturing company that has produced the copy has used a process of duplicating our CPU(MCU)'s hex file and flashed a similar chip(MCU) to produce a similar product. This means they do not have the original code and therefore cannot bug-test(QC) or update the charger at any point. Our chargers have CE and RoHS certification, proving their safety. Plus, thousands of customers the world over have used our chargers with excellent results. Your batteries are expensive. We understand this and thats why we will not carry low-quality charging devices. Trust only in TURNIGY® quality charging devices. Features; Microprocessor controlled Delta-peak sensitivity (NiMH/NiCd) Individual cell balancing Li-ion, LiPo and LiFe capable Ni-Cd and NiMH capable Large range of charge currents Store function, allows safe storage current Time limit function Input voltage monitoring. This charger has a JST-XH charge plug, which makes it compatible with Zippy, HXT, TURNIGY and any pack with a JST-XH adapter.
i received mine ,whats the best way to charge a lipo
? and if u say balance charging also then what setting i have to set for 2200mah 45-90c 3s ! and also setting for max voltage ??? tanx
Max voltage : this charger come settled to 4.2volt per cell (maximum recommended voltage) charging your lipo in balance mode. (remember if you use fast charging, The charging capacity may be a bit smaller than normal charging). Also you can calibrate your accucell6 /- 0.01volts (experts only).
Hi, I have battery 4 Turnigy 5000mAh 4S1P 14.8v 20C hardcase pack and Turnigy Accucel-6 50W 6A Balancer/Charger. What charger program and setting shall I use?
lipo mode> lipo balance> "3.3a 14.8v"
[this is to make sure you do not exceed the 50 watts as (3.3 x 14.8 = 49 watts)]. this will take about 1.5 hrs per pack
Mine arrived yesterday, I've used the Storage Function and it discharged the batteries to 11.4 and 3.8v per I thought storage charge was 3.85v per cell 11.55 total which is what the manual says. The storage function is the sole reason I bought another charger.
that should be ideal, i am using a printer power supply 12v/4a. MAKE SURE! the polarity of the connector on the supply is same as the polarity of the provided connector otherwise it will give be an error or a slight possibility of short circuit.
Mike, thanks for the quick reply, I clicked on the tab that says files just above this to see if I could find the manual and there weren't any files in there, it only gave me the option to upload one, unless I'm looking in the wrong place??
that is fine bearing in mind that you can set amps rate you want to charge your battery with. In this case 1.3~2.2 amps are all you need for safe charging.
Does anyone know if this charger has a programme to charge to Storage charge for batteries ie 3.85v per cell as opposed to a full charge of 4.2v per cell???
It does say .... Store function, allows safe storage current ..... In the listing but it's not particularly clear, some of the ones I seen that do offer that function very clearly state that's what it is
it does almost not matter what kind of laptop charger you choose. the accucell takes every laptop charger which delivers between 11 and 17 volts.
the mAh dont matter as you can set the chargin current on the accucell and he will tell you if it is set to high.
the laptop charger just have to fit in the socket with the right polarity or you make an adapter.
but a lower rated laptop charger will take longer to charge the battery than a higher rated charger...
Although if you find a power supply that is more than 6 amps, your batteries would be able to be charge quicker. As laptop chargers are typically lower power, such as 2A and below.
Is it possible to use this via an old laptop charger? or does it have to be a 12V battery?
I've needed a charger for months but the lack of power supply puts me off...
Lap top chargers are only rated 1 to 2 amps..this charger needs a supply of 12 volts at at least 6 amps..12 volt battery is your best bet if you don't want to buy a dedicated power supply...
Actually you CAN use a laptop charger.
Since you can choose with how many mA you want to charge the battery, it is possible to adjust it to the laptop charger.
I do it the same way, as i use a 15V 1.5A laptop charger, which lets me charge a 3S lipo with up to 1.8A and 2S lipos even higher.
If i try a to high charge current, the accucell just notes me with an input voltage error.
I just love this charger..!
Yes you can charge at 1.5a but bear in mind charging time to charge larger capacity batteries ie. 5000 m/a battery which charged at recommended 1c = 5a.... will take considerably longer being charged at 1.5a ...over 3 hrs..
im using a laptop charger on mine and its rated at 12v 6a works fine can also use lcd monitor power supply unit same voltage but remember the plug is 2.5mm 5mm so some standard pcu's wont fit and they are expensive compared to the correct pcu that is ment for this charger
No, but I think one is available cheaply from hobbyking, although not from all wearhouses, hence I got one off Ebay, but great prce for the charger and great product, I have had no problems with it unlike cheap type ImaxB6.
You do not need to calibrate it. The charger will work straight out of the box. For normal users this is fine.
Calibrating the charger involves adjusting some hidden settings on the charger. It simply means you are making the charger more accurate. Unless you know what you are doing DON'T DO IT! It works fine without it.
well i dont know where you can see a calibration option for this charger but in case you did mean to "balance" the lipo, then you will have to do that to ensure that each single cell from the lipo battery pack (thats if it is not a single cell) holds the same voltage and current.
this is to prevent damage to lipo cells which may have a lower charge than the others in the pack when you are using the lipo.
The calibration option is in a hidden service menu.
What you are doing when you re-calibrate the charger is removing measurement errors due to things like component tolerances in the charger. Calibration relies on having accurate test gear. Getting it wrong could mean cooking your batteries!
ok hidden service menu gives it away..
no wonder i did not see it in the manual.
you are absolutely right then with your first post. i falsely assumed that saurin might used calibration instead of balancing.
happens to me all the time as english is not my native language.
cheers
Recived my 3rd today and able to calibrate it. first thing i did was to desolder the input connector and solder the leads directly on the charger like my other 2.
I 100% agree! Only thing I'm not a fan of is the low amount of charging adapters included! In comparison to the £*60 one at my local hobby shop its a bargain!
This may be of help to others. Both the balance and power leads have to be connected- otherwise the 'connection break' error comes up. This charger does not come with a JST connector [ as described in the listing] but with a XT 60 connector. You need to also buy/make a JST to XT 60 coversion to charge smaller Lipos
I bought mine 7/01/2013 and i can calibrate it, just hold down - and ENTER and it will be able to be adjusted, mine was only 0.01v out amyway so its not a missive issue if you cant.
as i have been searching the web i found out that there is a old and a new version. in the new version you can't calibrate apparently, but in the old version you can so is this the new or the old version. please reply soon.
I'd like to get this, but don't have a power supply. I don't want to have to order a big power supply because I will never be charging batteries bigger than 2200mAh. My old charger has a built-in one that seemed to work fine.
Could anyone recommend a minimalist power supply to go with this, ideally without having to order outside UK warehouse?
Thanks!
you wont a laptop power supply. ever a 12volt 5amp or a 15volt 5amp you can pick them up on ebay or you could dismantle your old charger and remove the power supply. its the same as laptop power supplys just built into the charger
personally I'd buy an adapter from overlander, they will out last any on ebay (unless they were supplied by overlander lol) type 1770 in their search box
wow great find, i had to cut the jack off my laptop charger and replace it with the accucel 6 jack from the crocodile clips as i would never use them, but that is the next thing i'm going to purchase thank you!!
just recieved the charger havent put it throught any charging cycles. Be sure to buy different lead to connect on to different battaries as this charger only comes with supply leads and one lipo lead,, also you might want to buy a balance board,, "Hobbyking is not paying me HONEST"
Bought mine recently, very tidy and compact unit.
Used a couple of times to charge and balance some quite out of balance batteries, its reasonably easy to use, although some instructions would be handy for more complex things. That said, charging and balancing is very easy. Would definately recommend this charger.
hi charles , the cheapest and best power supply is a tower computer power supply i picked one up from my local boot sale for 99 pence , then follow the link on you tube .. awsum

This is the second Turnigy Accucel 6 charger I have purchased from HK the first one is still going strong after three years and has been faultles.
But as I fly on a daily basis I really need two and didn't hesitate to purchase a second.
I have two field chargers which are OK but nothing quite matches the accuracy and reliability of the Accucel 6

This was the first product i purchased from Hobbyking
I am well over the moon with the charger both in house and on the field its a fantastic piece of kit and will defo invest in another for a spare.
The speed and ease of the controls are fantastic and would expect to pay nearly 3 times the cost for a charger of this standard
Great buy great service
