What is the best prop for this boat.
 jokerrc 39 points
there is a best prop but you must find it to suit your condition's , try a x645
newb.i.am  1 points - 10/22/2012

Hi everyone. i'm a real newbie but i cant find any info about the propeller. I've been trying out half dozens but none seem to work good (when even suitable in terms of size). I've lost the initial prop and cant replace it since. SOS ! *-)
 Mark007 31 points
I'm about to try a 3 blade 40mm prop.
AquaCraft GrimRacer L40x57 3-Bld Copper-Beryllium Prop also have a 2 blade 40mm should get it up to about 70 kmh i hope

Hey guys got a stupid question. Love this boat ran it today and well must have hit close to 60 kmh! Does anyone know if you can buy a new man for the boat. I glued the tail on but the first flip and te tail stayed on but the man he's on the ocean floor somewhere, can you buy one or that's it. Cheers for the help.
 H-KING_SCOTT 5160 points
Have a look in the pilots section (for planes) one is bound to suit.

Just got my boat and it looks amazing. Does anyone know if I run the 4s 4000mha battery will it be ok or should I buy the 5000 4s? Thanks guys. One more thing have never used turn fins. Should I have 2 one on either side or just the one that they supply??
 Gary 2974 points
The 4cell 4000mah is fine, you will just get a shorter run time. This type of boat is designed as a circuit racer and designed to go very fast around a clockwise circuit,so normally one turn fin is ok,if you wish to steer left a lot may help to have a second fin.

 Mark007 31 points
Thank you so much for the info. Going to try it out today!! Might look at putting a second fin. See how it runs now.
 Gary 2974 points
Have fun,hope you like it.
 newb.i.am 1 points
i've even tried 5S-4500mha on mine. Work fine and doesnt overheat. You get a real boost.
Mark007  31 points - 9/27/2012

I have a 180 water cooled ESC is this too big or will it be ok to use??
 da king 39 points
that will be perfect, the larger the esc the better it will handle current draw. you will bo able to upgrade to a better motor that way in the future if you wish.

Great thanks Jason, not as tho I want to right now but what motor would you reccomend to upgrade to?
 da king 39 points
I dont know much about the quality of the motors they sell here (alltough im sure they are good quality) but i think a leopard 3660 around 2100kv would make it fly lol. it would be able to handle a larger prop and battery.

The Libero has a two-part flexicable. I'm new to boats and I need some advice on how to remove it so that I can lubricate it with marine grease. I had to unsecure the motor so I could move it back to allow me to take out the flexicable. There is the other half which the prop is connected to which I can't take out and I can't see how its being held in place. There is something stopping it being pulled out. Help would be appreciated.
 stewjw 217 points
To answer my own question, I think I just have to unscrew and drop the prop shaft. A bit obvious really. I've put it all together now using the suggested servo, a good fit, an Aquastar 120A ESC programmed using the USB key which works well. I didn't have to change much just the 12V cutoff for 4S and selected a soft cutoff. I checked the water cooling nozzles on the Aquastar and added a bit of locktite they seem fine no leaks. I'm going to try it with a 50C, 4S, 4000mAh, Nanotech Lipo. A 5000mAh may be better. I put the battery as far forward as possible on the battery tray. I'm not going to bother with Franks mod below for securing the turn fin it seems fine to me. It looks good too late now to get it in the water, hopefully I'll try it the next day or two.

Here is a video review we did for HobbyKing on the Libero High Speed Racing Boat
 Mark007 31 points
Hey Frank, thanks for the video. Ran my boat today and well awesome run! do you know if you can replace the little man? I glued down the fin as you suggested but well not the man. First flip and he's gone!!! Can i get one form somewhere or not? cheers Frank.
 Frank77 270 points
I searched hobbyking and didn't find a direct figure replacement for the Libero boat. You might have a look at the pilots in the accessories section to see if you can find something that will work.
 Mark007 31 points
Thanks Frank, yea I did that and gound a pilot that should look great on it. Cheers again.

Would you sell these as just a hull only? No motor or hardware
 da king 39 points
dont thing so. maybe in the future they will
greatbigste  94 points - 5/30/2012

Made a little comment regarding ****py decals ! It doesn't look like HK want to let it appear, thought it was a discussion page ?? All I wanted to know is if all the decals were lacquered over or if some were removable !!? Would be nice to have the choice . Let's see if this one goes on.
 stewjw 217 points
Decals lacquered over its a nice finish.
stewjw  217 points - 5/29/2012

I was looking for a small portable boat which can take a 4S lipo battery and this looks like it will fit the requirements. It looks a nice design reminiscent of the 1930s speed boats, that could be Donald Campbell sitting in there. Only problem I was looking for a V-bottom but I'm currently pondering on getting this.
 6scrusher 27 points
I am also thinking of getting this, looks like there is a ton of room for electronics and lipos in the hull, I am kinda comparing this to the sea fire, but it has much more room and probally handles much better with more surface area up front, I just ordered a pursuit have you considered that boat, I think this one would be alot of fun and take upgrades easy, hope this helps.
 stewjw 217 points
The Pursuit is good value at the moment. Its just a little large, not easy to put in a rucksack. I tend to walk quite far to get to my local water, so was looking for something a bit smaller. I did actaully place an order for the Pursuit but cancelled it when I realised its size.
 6scrusher 27 points
Does anyone know hoe this style of boat handles, I was going to get a sea fire, but thought it would be fliping in the corners alot, they say it needs calm water, I wonder if this is the same or if it is better, it looks to me like it would be more stable just from the shape of the front and it looks deeper, any one ever run one like this?
 nugg999 47 points
they do handle very well and fast in corners but only right hand turns, they will handle small chop but dont like rough water i have had a few hydros in my time the last one being one the same size as this
 silvermansteve 64 points
looks good! i'm just afraid to buy over $75 from hk at any time. i.e., it has to be something i'm willing to write-off with no rgrets, if there's a problem. a little gamble. because i don't expect any warranty support whatsoever, based on my one experience with them after over 60 successful orders. hk is fine... until you have a problem, then FORGET IT.
 6scrusher 27 points
I guess I don't understand and then I do. I just placed two orders in the past couple of days totaling 500.00, I had two go bad at 200.00 each, it took 30 days and a ton of complaining, but I got the stuff, where else can you get stuff thid cheap, they will make it rite, you just got to bug them over and over and putting it all on facebook helped alot too.
 zeeek1 514 points
GO TO youtube and search MISS RUBY 2 SHOES.
 zeeek1 514 points
Other retailers are promise hob by or, H O R. It is a TFL hull I think and specially decked out by hobby king in rtr fashion.

Nice boat. If it has a 4 pole motor, it should haul the mail!
 zeeek1 514 points
I'd love to buy the internal framework if I could. I already have one of these hull in the closet in red gel coat. Maybe I'll finally build it after 4 years, lol...
 6scrusher 27 points
What do you mean by internal framwork?
 zeeek1 514 points
Inside this boat the pictures show an internal framework made of glass fiber plate.

All round nose hydros need some extra support because of the large surface area inside, otherwise the fiberglass gets wob
 6scrusher 27 points
Are you talking about the battery holder in the middle of the boat?
 zeeek1 514 points
Yes. It is connected to the motor mount and the servo mountas one unit adding rigidity to the belly of the boat.
 6scrusher 27 points
I noticed k i n t e c had all the stuff you need, I am getting ready for a 36 inch dumas sport 40 wooden hydro build, ose and the before mentioned seem to have all the good stuff, but the good stuff isnt cheap, they have some nice long battery trays, in class and carbon fiber, I really like this boat but I think I am gona wait for a couple of reviews, plus been a little boat crazy lately, thanks for the info zeeek.
 stewjw 217 points
* zeeek1 nice vid looks like maybe a 3S setup, 4S I'm sure would go faster.
 zeeek1 514 points
I know all about Kintec Racing. He has some good stuff and he has ALOT of Chinese stuff you can buy here or elsewhere for ALOT less. Nothing wrong with free enterprise but, I know where to get it all for alot less money. This is my "thing"..

this one looks kinda like a Dark Horse...

This boat has to be one of the best I have btought off HK. Love the detail of it. Came packed perfectly and running on a 4s 4000 mah it gets up and goes. Will try a 5000 mah and see how she performs. Only thing i will say is to unscrew the fin on top and glue it down won't hold on if you flip. Thanks HK for an awesme product!!!!
