The Big Monster also includes twin High Torque steering servos, rear disc brake and a massive 530ml fuel tank. All that is needed to complete this truck is your own transmitter and receiver, paint to customize the body shell and a tank of 2-Stroke Gas!

Will you consider stocking replacement clear bodyshells to fit the hobbyking Big monster,

What kind of axle ? Is it driveshaft or bearing axle ? If its a driveshaft you have two ways doing this 1. change to dogbone model and change the cups at the same time. 2. Get new CVD shafts wherever they sell FG MT parts.
This is a direct copy of the FG so that you can use their spares if HK don't have them available.(and there are HEAPS of upgrade options!)
Great design, very tough and a clear shell means you can go mental on the paintjob. Great value as well.
If Monster trucks are your thing then you'd have to spend $1500 or more to get a better truck.
I still prefer my 260SC, but I love RWD.
My body shell arrived smashed in box,bought a MAVERICK "Blackout" painted body shell part no.MV24112 * $150 same size as original ute style shell will fit with very little mod's should be able to order from local rc store.
how much of these parts are compatible with the fg monster truck? and when will hk stock spares? i am so keen to buy this but i dont want to buy it if it cant be upgraded and has no parts support
ours should be turning up tomorrow. I'll compare it against the FG manual. Going by the pics it looks to be very much Rovans Clone of the FG 4WD MT. I notice the Rovan Baja spares are now starting to appear, so one can assume HK will eventually get around to stocking the MT spares as well. Check out the Baja spare parts pricing. Definately a lot cheaper than anywhere else
I want to buy this and the HK 2 Channel transmitter/receiver combo and I cannot as its over weight. The USA warehouse transmitter/receiver is half the weight of the Australian one and its the same product. Can someone fix this up so I can get my whole order in one shipment please?
I think this is the same as the FG setup with a belt running between the front and rear diff. The diff casings have a toothed outer and the belt runs in a shroud on the bottom plate. When mine gets here tomorrow or the day after I'll load the correct manual in the files tab.
Got it, it is definately the same as the FG 4WD Monster truck... file uploaded. By the way this thing is awesome, comes with spare hub knuckles, turnbucles, DogBone boots, nice tools and the finish is 4 to 5 star. I'm in the process of pulling it down to check it out. So far it all seems great. One front shock was a bit sticky but seems fine now.

we are closer to china, and in case you didn't know the usa have some decent import duties and taxes themselves. its their second highest revenue raiser behind income tax.
Hobbyking please stock chinese parts for 1:5 vehicles like the Baja and this truck. We are being ripped off else. Without essential spare parts 1:5 driving is useless.

Got this truck, it goes together and starts very easily. There is no getting started manual, just exploded diagrams but everything is pretty self explanatory. Have not driven it a heap, just run it around the yard a couple of times. Its really loud, so waiting to get out and drive it somewhere where there are no people. Only unusual thing I have found is the car does not free roll when you push it. You have to give it a good hard push and the gears actually move but not the clutch. Not sure what the go with that is, anyone have any ideas? Going to check it out on Google right now to see what I find.

I brought this truck, it doesn't come with any instructions at all, just a book of exploded diagrams, but its pretty straight forward once you work out where to mount the receiver and get it all tuned in. The motor took a few turns to fire the first time, but once it was running it runs great. The truck really hammers and will catch you out in a confined space. The disc brake system is close to useless, it barely stops the truck out of the box, you'll need to spend some time working on it to get it to pull up at all, even then its pretty average for how hard the truck goes, well under braked!
As a result of the power and weak brakes I tapped a garden bed wall at home and ripped the entire left hand front wheel, carrier and steering arms completely off, it was a big mistake of mine, I was a little surprised at how easily it all came off as it wasn't a very big hit. The biggest problem here is that HK has no parts available to fix my truck right now they're all on back order and we know how that goes. The upside is I am told this truck is a copy of the FG Monster and the Rovan Big Monster, so their parts I am told will fit this truck. I have ordered alloy front uprights and a front disc brake system etc for now as I am hoping they'll be stronger and steer better, and the brakes might actually stop this thing.
Overall I think this truck is still great value for someone just
