Pitts 12 EPO 1600mm w/Brushless Motor & Servos (ARF) (Red/White)
There is always something about a large Bi-plane that appeals to RC pilots, they have real presence on the ground and a certain elegance in the air that is hard to match, this amazing large scale Pitts 12 is so impressive and you have to look really hard to tell that it is a foamy!
Of course it isn't any old foam, it's highly compressed EPO which not only gives the Pitts an almost balsa model look, it also means that it's as tough as old boots! There are so many impressive features on this stunning bipe, the under-carriage is heavy duty, full size servo's are pre-fitted for the rudder and elevator, the scale detail, the whopping 3 blade scale prop and spinner, the pre-fitted and very powerful brushlessoutrunner, the list goes on! The Pitts is easy enough to build and all hardware is included, you will need to add your own ESC & Lipoly to get into the air with this amazing looking aerobatic Bi-Plane.
The Pitts features huge wing joiners/tubes and fast assemble wing and tailplane rigging, once assembled it is very ridgid and it needs to be, this is a very capable aerobatic model! Power from the huge outrunner on 6s is really impressive and coupled with the amazing looks and performance of this huge foam Pitts 12, this is a model that will provide the RC pilot with a truly memorable days flying very time it goes to the field!
Specs: Wingspan: 1600mm Length: 1490mm Flying Weight: 4500g Servo: 9g x 4, 40g x 2 Motor: 5060 390kv Brushless Outrunner
Requires: Your Own 6 Channel TX/RX 100A~120A ESC UBEC 3700mAh~4500mAh 6s Lipoly Battery
with enough power, anything can "fly." the trick is not to crash. lol. what specific question are you asking? this plane only needs an esc, radio system, a battery and a pilot to fly.
I would buy this if HK would ship to the US I read all about it then I got the guts to pull the trigger on it and then it told me it cant ship to THe US
It's in the US warehouse! I don't think you can change warehouses in the item listing page. Rather, while searching for the Pitts, click the American flag instead of the text or plane image. Go back and get it!
Mate, we fly them with 6S happily but she comes a bit overpropped as standard for the motor - so limiting full throttle range to keep her below 100A will keep her cool. Otherwise play with something a little less aggressive than the 17 x 11 prop. Enjoy, they are awesome in the sky :)
What's the name of esc? Normally for enter in programming mode you have to put your throttle stick on full position before plug the battery. Then see if the esc enter or not in the "programming menu".
You could always pair 2 up in parallel for extra long sport flying. Battery used to sit pretty much under the CoG spot before I replaced the prop and spinner. Now I have to add 150g up front with a conventional 2 blade prop and a 5000MAh as far forward as she'll go.
WELL, looks like after 6 flights I'll be learning the art of re-winding the motor on this one - she threw a few magnets mid flight. Down side is that HK no longer stock a 50** motor that has 4 prop adapter bolt holes to suit the shaft, spinner and prop on this bird - so it's a complete new fitout when the motor blows :(
Thanks hobby king admin
my question to ask is how the weight of the plane come to 6225g no battery or Tx or Esc?????
and hobby king you right for the information but not the weight!!
* Wingspan: 1600mm (63")
* Length: 1490mm (59")
* Flying Weight: 3500g (159 oz)
* Drive System: 390KV Outrunner Brushless motor
* ESC: 120A Brushless Speed Controller
* Servo: 4* 9g and 2* 40g high speed servos
* Battery: 22.2V 6S 3700mah 25C Li-Po
Note.
159 oz= 4510 grames.flying weight
3500g= 127.7oz weight come from the box.
If you've got the box you must have bought one and had it shipped to you in freakishly quick time since they only released them about 5 days ago in which case it's a bit late to be complainiing about shipping weight. It's a bloody big plane that's going to need an even bigger bloody box. It's the huge bloody volume of space it takes up in a very expensive to run jet a heavy box or 2 since it's probably double boxed packaging you're paying extra for. I reckon it's pretty reasonable. Don't like it, wait for it to come to a warehouse near you or just don't buy it.
he is not talking about the shipping weight, he was referring to the specifications above, where it reads that the airframe weighs 4500g (thats without the speed controller or battery) so just dont be so www.link
Do you have trouble reading steven? I'll quote the relevant part for you again and we'll see if it sinks in after reading it again. Quote "my question to ask is how the weight of the plane come to 6225g no battery or Tx or Esc?" That IS the shipping weight . The FLYING WEIGHT is 4500g. Forget what it says on that rundown thing just above here, it always says airframe weight for some reason. Read the actual specs instead. There's no way in the world the bare airframe could weigh 4500g.
Yes, its a massive biplane! Nearly all models are ear-marked for satellite warehouses, it's just a matter of filling containers and getting them there.
Hobby King Pleas correct the information about that plane: Originally Posted by HLC SHOP Hi, here are spec from the manufacturer: Pitts-12 Wingspan 1600mm Length 1488mm Fly weight 3800g Motor 4558 KV600 ESC 80A (maybe 100A) Battery: 22.2V-3700 4pcs 9g servo, 2pcs 17 or 25g servo
Wow i those servo horn extensions look like something i rigged up on a profile foamie. And yes 9G servos?? The airframe looks very nice and i am sure the power system hauls A$$ but if the controls are not up to the task it will inevitably turn into a pretty pile of foam. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/images/em_c ry.gif
wow your so right i had to take a look what your were talking about this needs to have larger servo's ,i wouldnt trust it with the size they want to use, just wont do it.
That looks like something I might do here im my work room if I didn't have any arms long enough and didn't want to wait for an order, kinda bodgy. I do love the plane and I'm sure it's strong enough but that looks amateurish.
After another closer look I noticed the elevator has had the same treatment except with the cut off end of a black servo arm so it's disguised better. I take it back, I think they would flog themselves loose over time. And what's with the servo horn screwed to the ply at the front seemingly clamping down a perished elastic band . I think I'll wait for version 2.
is it possble to fliyng 3D? i think 9g servo is not enough. acoding to your dicrpiton flying weight is 4.5kg!! even if i'd rather buy none servor version kit it seems like great plan really!! i want to buy this kit ^^ i like giant EPO kit!!
Friends HobbyKing i would like to know if you send this model for Brazil if not ... i would like to know if you can arrange to have twice if the question is positive i want to buy one of these models ok
Very happy, Great build quality for a foamie, great power too. have only maidened it quickly to make sure it was cg'd correctley so will get a bit more agressive withit next few flights. The only dramas are the instructions... pointless as the pictures are so small, for a beginer it would be a nightmare anyone with any build experience will have no issues though. My only gripe on the whole kit is the servo horns andthe undercarriage is over bent so has positive camber (5min fix) the rest is fine.

VERY important!! glue cowl ring on, 2nd flight the cowl ring dislodged at full power on take off and turned into confetti.. also add a a drop of epoxy to each stringer where it loops to the retainer springs, i lost a couple during some blenders and spins. The plane will hover easy on 6s (4000mah) and has pull out, not heaps but enough. CG wise i flew it @ 145mm to start then settled back around 155mm. It has a fair bit of coupling to the gear in KE but no worse than most. I also ended up dialling in a bit of brake to the dlux ESC as it did not slow down quick enough for my liking.

What can i say, but WOW! Arrived HK to Aus in 5days at 2/3 the price of banana rc where I first fell in love with it. Wish I'd seen the post about the cowl mine dislodged 30 seconds into maiden flight - traumatic by she floated back dead stick for a text book landing. Nerves shot I took her up again but fluffed the landing getting caught in the long grass off the edge of the strip with a double summersault nose over tail. This things indestructible considering flying weight of 4.8kg just dusted her off thorough inspection all round and straight back up she went. I will post a video of still images to assist newbie builders. Plans are only good for bolt allocation. Tail wheel needs springs not the fixed rods provided. Well done Hobbyking, 3 cheers :,) !!!
