can the rotation of this be reversed at the motor, it's for a dual motor setup?
 Aaron 25 points
yes just swap the wires

i ran this motor twice in my outlaw jr with turngy 60amp esc and it flys but burnt itself out on first battery both times ???
 Andrey 2 points
try using a 40A ESC, and battery 2S 1800mAh 7.4 V, I use this setup and my engine still works well
 ryan 7 points
yes but i want it ridiculously fast not really slow???
 Andrey 2 points
leaves the 40A ESC, and test with a bigger battery.

this might seem a little basic but Im coming from planes to boats, I want to fit out a 36 inch grp powerboat but how do you get foward and reverse on electric boats, not needed on planes as they dont fly well backwards, any advice will help, thanks all, alan norfolk uk.

I recon this motor would do just fine for you alan as I run two of these on a 600mm twin hull, custom built boat with 3s lipos, two 120A speed controllers (bit high I know) and two three blade 32 props. Goes amazing but having some difficulty with the flex drives flying out due to the high rpm. WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THOUGH. really fast and sounds amazing. I response to your question the forward and reverse on boats are programmed though your speed controller. I would suggest buying quality speed controllers (turnigy ect) as you can program them better but hey, the cheapies work too.
Have fun

i use the hhobby king 200a watercooled esc as it is cheap and it has reverse and i have been running it on 4s for for approx 30 hours of run time and i have not had any problems :) i reconmend and will vouch for the quality

hi pal, this motor is overkill for Your little boat, pls step down two (2) sizes... IF YOU ARE THAN STILL NOT SATISIED WITH SPEED OR PERFORMENCE, choose a heli Motor, aircooled wit turbine. rgds, manfred

can i install this on a seafire ? as an ugrade
 jvbemmel 88 points
It depends on the output and prop you will be using. Don't put too much amps through this one, it will burn easily. just make sure you have enough prop sizes at hand and start slow and measure the amps..
 emanuel 669 points
you can but be careful that you don't force too much so it will burn

Does the turning action of the motor produce the pressure difference required for water flow, or you need an external pump, or you rely on the movement of the boat to produce the pressure at the water intake port? (Sorry for the newbie question)
 DrEvil 129 points
Forward movment requierd for pressure and waterflow. Kai

Great idea BUT we need bigger motor choices. 300 - 500 gram out-runner motor options for big boats and HIGH torque. keep up the good work HK.
 danitegue 121 points
Yes, WE NEED BIGGER WATER COOLED OUTRUNNERS, of 36mm diameter minimum, and 5mm shaft. Like most 3660 inrunners of most boats. HK, YOU SHOULD INVESTIGATE IN THIS NEED. Sfakias gave a good idea for improve these motors a bit more, any tiny internal impeller could generate the nessesary pressure for the water flow, good for cooling when low speed driving.

a very pretty good motor best www.link

Hi, I just received his 400xxL- 3200kv motor today ...it looks good,Built well, but i have a problem with the shaft.there is no flat point machined on it for a grub screw to hold a coupler and the shaft is a smaller diameter then any other motor i have,so at this time i am unable to swap my leapard 2900kv and try this in my 21 inch sword mono...i guess i can grid or file a small notch, but wish they gave a size on stats so i could order a coupler..also what is that tiny fuel filter looking thing included for???

Well.... can't really say it was good.... Got the motor put it in my boat and the shaft snapped like a twig after maybe 2 mins of run time. Now to give you an idea of how the water was looking wave 2-3inches, water temp 76, wind 3m/hr, prop 40x53 (balanced & sharp) runnin on a 4s 45c zippy, on my turnigy 120a aquastar esc . So really it was a good day to play but that didn't happen. On a good note hobbyking did refund the $$ (C.S. did me right! yet to have a problem with them they all rock) due to the fact it was the motor. in the end I vive it 3 stars over all value 5 quality 2 if ya use it dont go 4s like they say it can will prob rip itself apart like it did me keep on 3s or under and you will be fine. I think......

450mm boat was engine 2445 (400W), but it was very hot, so he took it, really, this engine is clearly more powerful, I do not measure current, but interesting. Its main disadvantage - is the quality of the cooling system, very thin nipples one thread nipple was made crooked and a larger diameter than you need, very disappointed, we had to extend the threads deeper and put the nipple on tredlok. I hope that will not be more trouble.

Hi All, I received this 400xxL- 3200kv motor about four months ago ...it looks good,Well Built. I put into my HK Piranha V-Hull racing boat. With a powerful 4 cells powering this motor the boat went super fast for about eight charges , Then the little out-runner burnt out. So a warning Don't use 4s on this motor for to long it can't handle the power. Although the specs on this site say it can. I would stick to 3s with this one. I would rate it 7 out of 10.
