i use this motor on my turnigy 1:8 SCT with 100a ESC, with 19T M1 pinion, 3S 3000mah 40c. power and torque are awesome, with 21T pinion up to 110 km/h

Great motor, running in my Mono on 4S with 37mm prop going 55mph. The hull rund like on tracks. Great buy for the prics

This motor is very decent! I have it in my Kyosho MP7.5 buggy converted to electric with a hobbywing 120wp on 3s "B" grade hobbyking 3600mah and it obtains 65kms easily without blowing out my wheels. I would recommend this motor for the average basher such as myself. 2 thumbs up Hobbyking..thanks :-).

This engine is used in a 150A esc Hobby King Brushless Car ESC
 jeffrey 669 points
Yes the hobbyking 150A esc will work with this motor. This is a good motor for the price.I have several in my boats.Hope this helps.

How long would this take to be delivered to Australia?
 marty 1 points
depends on how much you pay for shipping, i,ve had some deliveres in 3 days and others taking 2 weeks

according to description: max volts 14.8 volt max load 95 amps so max power is 14.8cx95a <= watts 1406(va).... not in hobbyking: max power = 1600 watts
 jeffrey 669 points
I will say it is more like 1400 to 1500 watts.I have 6 of these black beasts.I have them in boats and trucks.Boats take the most amps and watts and this one will hang with $150 ones for a fraction of the price.I will say that it needs proper cooling because it does get hot if you push it,gearing or prop size.Prop size on 4s no bigger than 45mm 2 blade.Hope this helps.

Hy guys! Did the motor have 4 pole?? Will it do well in my E Revo?? Thanks!
 DjFlipnautikz 5 points
This is motor well do great in the e-revo, don't know exactly though if it is 4-pole. i would like to know as well.
 jeffrey 669 points
It will work in your E Revo but it is a 2 pole motor.Even though it is a 2 pole it does have massive power, over 2 horse power. You can't beat the price.Gets warm on 4s so if you run this motor ,get a fan for it.Hope this helps.JK.

Can I use this motor on my Truggy 1/8 with a 80A Hobbywing ESC with 2 lipo battery 7,4volts ?
 jeffrey 669 points
Yes it is a very powerful motor (1600watts)It will work in your truggy.Use a fan and don't go over 4s and you will be fine.Temps should be checked depending on your gearing.Great motor ,have run them in my trucks and boats.Does get hot if you push it.Hope this helps.

Hi all, I plan to use this motor for a brushless conversion on my Revo 2.5r. Is it up for the job? I want to use 4s with the controller listed below. I currently running an OS .18tm so this power should be more. My gearing at the moment: 17T pinion and 38T spur. I would like to try a similar gearing to that. I'm mainly converting due to noise and mess. ESC: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/stor
e/__8993__Hobby_King_Brushless_Car_ESC_100A_w_Revers
e_Upgrade_version_.html
 jeffrey 669 points
Yes it will do the job, massive power.Make sure you put a fan on it because it does get hot on 4s.You mwill be pleased with the power.Your Revo will fly on 4s.As for the esc it will work but the Turnigy car esc's tend to be better quality. And converting to brushless is great,I have been running nitro for over 20 years, cars, trucks, boats, and planes and I now only electric, you can't beat the power and NO mess.Hope this helps.JK.
 reflexsa 1 points
Yes thanks, this does help.
I was planning on getting a fan and hs anyway :-)

I shall try on 4s, if it's not going well I will go less cells and change the gearing.

Thanks for the advice on the esc, any specific turnigy model I should look at?

The os motor I have runs like a dream, but as I said noise and mess... I also had a taste of brushless recently and was impressed!
 jeffrey 669 points
Hi,The turnigy Trackstar 120 amp Short course Truck,Product number 9052000011 is a great choice.I know it says short course truck but is plenty powerful enough for the revo.Check out the reveiws on it ,it also has a 720amp burst. Also in the reveiws they talk about how much better it is than the HK version.Hope this helps.JK.
 reflexsa 1 points
Thanks for the advice. I purchased one of these motors and the Trackstar ESC you suggested. The Revo absolutely flys now, motor does get slightly warm, but not to bad.
 jeffrey 669 points
Glad I could help.Great motor for the money..
Alexander  1 points - 6/13/2012

I have had this motor for about a year now. I've noticed a decrease in power output. Cause when i go full throttle it doesn't spin as fast as it did when it was new. I had 22/66 gearing and was using two 7.2v nimh 5000mah packs. Anyone have the same issue? Or how can i test to make sure it's going bad and replace it?
 jeffrey 669 points
They usually just go,you have probably got it hot and the magnets are fried.HK has a brushless motor checker that you can order.Check your solder connections, your ESC to motor connectors,if they are a year old they need replacing if your running them hot, they will have more resistance and not carry as much voltage. That could be it.
 Alexander 1 points
Yeah it gets hot, but i had a castle creations fan on it as well as a small heat sink
you1k  53 points - 3/25/2012

1600watts really?
 Victorvs 952 points
yea, buy and test it

 jeffrey 669 points
I have two of them, they do make 1600 watts, they also heat up. So I would not run over 4s on them.I have them in boats with water cooling. If you are going to ues them in a truck or car make sure you use a fan. These are nice motors and you can't beat the price.Only have 4mm connectors.I have replaced them with 5.5 bullet connectors.Mine in my boats have been running for over a year with proper cooling.Hope this helps.
lubos5  18 points - 2/28/2012

can i put this into trooper ?
 jeffrey 669 points
I am not familar with the trooper but if it has a 540 size motor it will work.Same mounting holes as 540 size motor. It has alot of power and is good up to 4s lipo.It has a 5mm shaft and not a .125 shaft like 540 size motors,so you will have to get the correct pinion gear for you application.Hope this helps.JK.
Martin  4 points - 1/22/2012

This engine is the use or 4-pole 2-pole?
 Matthew 10 points
Its a 2 pole 7 turn, same as a LBA3674/7T

Car I use this motor to a Slash 2x4 1/10 with 2s batteries? What ESC is good for this motor?
 jeffrey 669 points
This motor is a little big for the slash 2 wheel drive and too low kv for 2s.Im running a 3900Kv with 3s.It would not be much more than stock with that set up and this motor has a 5mm shaft so you can't use your stock pinion gears with 1/8 shaft. However the esc you should get is the Turnigy 60amp esc,its a great esc with many program features and as for the motor I would recommend the ez-run 3900kv,its cheaper and you will not be disapointed and your pinoin gears will fit and it will also work
Heinrich  20 points - 9/27/2011

Is this a 550er motor ?
 james 5 points
It looks and feels like a 550 motor, but it's listed as a 540.

I've purchased this motor for a slash 4x4 basher upgrade (saving money instead of Mamba Max) and it needs at least 3s lipo, 4s lipo to run fast. However, it did keep up at the track with my friend's Mamba Max Pro setup, although this motor got hot faster.

Any one think this is good for a E maxx with a 5S lipo 30C ? Please let me know I used a Feagio 7XL b4 but its screwed its mounting holes...
 jeffrey 669 points
I have one of these in my boat and I always used Feagio all XL,s. This motor runs circles around the Feagio. Much more power.I have cooked 4 Feagio,s and this one is still running like a champ.I know its not in a truck but a Boat has a constant drag and is rough on motors.Im running 6s and it does get hot but not too hot(big watercool jacket).I would reccomend a fan,you can get one if you order this motor,HK has got them for about 5 bucks.Hope this helps.

Nice motor, sitting in my nanda nrb3.

BUT. What is happening, allmost every brushless motor is in backorder .

Problems with the dealers?.

Come on Hobbyking............

i've tried it in my e-revo. Slightly less performance compared to neu motor 2200kv. But its way hotter than the neu motor. Worth the price of it.

Good brakes, great power. Tryed it with 4S. Does smb use it with 5S LiPo? 50000 rpm, won't it blew up?
 jeffrey 669 points
I would stay with 4s.I tried 5s got too hot,and will heat up bearings.Great Motor.

Missing one piece of information here yet how many spiral is the engine. My controller has a limitation poles, and do not know if will be good for me
 sparkie 325 points
Very easy to find out how many poles. Mark the shaft (not permantly), Rotate through a full 360 degrees counting each detent. It will always be an even number. Once you have that number, divide by 2 and that is your number of poles.
 Pijoy 5 points
The problem is that I do not have this engine, I want to just buy it. Purchasing addictive than the number of turns because my controller requires it.
 sikeston34m 64 points
I believe you are asking how many turns this is, but it is a 2 pole motor.

ESC's have a switching limitation on rmp's where the pole count is a factor. You should be fine with this one as long as your esc can handle the amp load.
JaroEDF  15 points - 1/24/2011

Hi. Do you think I can use this motor at 6S in 90mm EDF HET 9035?
 H-KING_SCOTT 5160 points
This motor is good for 2s to 4s lipo.
Kvochin  41 points - 1/1/2011

What is the number of pole in this motor?

Where is the voltage?
 mike123141 260 points
If you look at the Car Power System under the brushless motor selection, you'll see this motor paired with a 150A ESC. This appears to be the same motor only by itself. That system can handle 6s, so I would assume this can handle 6s.
 mikhail 43 points
6s would be really pushing it. even 5s would be a bit fast for it but should be fine as long as you have enough cooling
 benjamin 25 points
with this kind of motor 35-40 rpm are a max. so with 2370 Kv, you reach the limit with about 15 volts, 4S seems to be the good limit to avoid thermal issues
 Duane 5 points
I just bought one. It is a Suxfly B36-74. It looks like they also call it a B540XXL on their website. I hope this helps in looking up specifications.
 MasterB 105 points
This motor can handle 4S (14.8V)
 eggnuts 2 points
I buy this one..n im use to my pursuit boat from Hobby king.. Esc 180A hobbywing, prop 445 octura, lipo use 4s, lipo 6A Hit 90-100 km/H

I ride this one in my Hong Nor Ultra LX-1 BL with Trackstar ESC an Turnigy 4s 4500mah Lipopack. I tried 3 different Pinions (15, 14, 13) and its always getting very hot. On 15 Pinion i had to stop after ~4min, on 14 it got ~68°C after 6min Runtime, on 13 i had ~8min Runtime with ~69°C. Airtemp was about 18°C on the 3 Testruns...no need to say that i got a lot more runtime in that Lipo?! Search for bjRnSter on Youtube for Vids. Maybe with an 12T Pinion it will stand a complete Run. Now waiting for my Trackstar Motor to be delivered and hopeing for cooler runs

It's great for the price although it does run pretty hot. It's nothing special, but makes a great back up motor for the price.
