Hobbyking Jetiger Plug-&-Fly Brushless EDF Park Jet (USA Warehouse)

Hobbyking Jetiger Plug-&-Fly Brushless EDF Park Jet (USA Warehouse)

The Hobbyking EPO Jetiger is Plug-&-Fly right out of the box. It takes just minutes to attach the fins and install your own battery and receiver.

Included in the kit is a 2025 4,000Kv inrunner motor, 9g servos and 30A esc, all pre-installed, of course!

The HK Jetiger can reach speeds of up to 100mph, and EPO construction means its tough too. Hand launches are made simple with the underside hand holds. which also double as intake cooling ducts. Despite the blistering top speeds of this model, its docile in the stall and easy to land, making it a fun, all round sport jet for all occasions.

Check the file tab. There is a picture for a setup that works with a 1800mah 3s lipo. This works very well I use this setup. If you put the lipo at the front it is way too nose heavy and flies terrible. You have to trust me on this one.

What kind of battery terminal does this plane use???
Michael  1 points - 3/18/2013

do we have an estimate when this jet will be back in stock??? This website keeps trying to get me to order it from china, I would if the price didn't almost double because of postage??? Thank You, Mike O.
 Steven 8 points
It is back in stock. As of this morning, they had six left.

Could someone tell me if these are coming with outrunner motors now?
 TaterTotDW 197 points
These won't use outrunner motors because these are EDFs. EDFs use inrunners. Outrunners provide more torque but inrunners provide more rpms for edfs. For EDFs, RPMs are more important than torque.
 hate2crash 13 points
wrong answer tatertodw...i have several edf's with outrunners...Rpms and torque are good in both inrunners and outrunners...i don't know where u get your info, but its wrong...
 TaterTotDW 197 points
I got my info from Bruce at RCModelReviews. Perhaps I misunderstood him. My apologies...
 hate2crash 13 points
No problem i sure u ment well, but if i don't know something i just say so....This hobby is great and newbes need facts not fiction..

I just got my Jetiger today, and there are absoutely no instructions in the box. I can figure out the servo connections and how to glue the nose cone and tail exhaust pipe on, but where is the CG? I got the 1800 battery which I'll have to carve into the fuse to make it fit, and I need to know where to set the CG. Thanks!
goldsworthy  33 points - 11/27/2012

I see some people have had motor burn out after verry few flights. I wish to avoid this problem. Could someone give me a list of the needed upgrade parts that will fit in this? I want to buy everything I need in 1 order THANKS!
 john 20 points
how do the servos hold up?
 EZ400 38 points
Throw all the stock stuff in the trash. Then use the Turnigy Trust 45a ESC, HXT900 or HS-55 servo's, Turnigy 2610-4500 outrunner, Zippy 1800 to 2200 3s, 30c Lipo. She flies great, flies fast !!! Yes she is a bit nose heavy with the 2200 set-up.
goldsworthy  33 points - 11/26/2012

I read the stock motor and controller is ****. Someone please let me know what to order with this jet so it will last more than a few flights without burning out!
EZ400  38 points - 4/21/2012

What outrunner makes a good replacement for the stock edf? Will this outrunner fit the stock fan, will I need an adaptor, or will I need to replace the entire fan unit? Should I also get a replacemnt esc, what Amp rating?

Can the FlyJet kit be used for this? The specs are close but not exactly the same.
leudop  3 points - 12/8/2011

Why is the US version $10 more? Based on other comments, it doesn't appear faster shipping is the reason.
 EZ400 38 points
The Currency/Monitary conversion difference is the main reason...
 Fireman243 13 points
Because the plane is manufactured in China. They paid to ship it ton the USA already. That is why the price is higher. You can order it from China and pay to ship to the states but it will likely cost more. They usually pass a little bit of the shipping savings on to you because they ship in bulk.

I would like to see a kit version if this, any chance if that happening?

I need a bigger engine for the jetiger. Any ideas?
 F100CUFFLINK 886 points
check out on the ducted fan out runners the turnigy brands you can go with the high est KV and nanotec 2500mah 3 cell only. should give you over 100mph
Glenn  4 points - 3/23/2011

Where should the COG be on this plane with a 2200mah Battery in it. not that the battery makes any difference, the COG should be the same reguardless i just want to cut the battery in the right place first time round to balance everything thats all.
 F100CUFFLINK 886 points
just place were it balanced last time with original lipo and set the new batt to balance at that point.
RcFlyingForLife  4 points - 2/24/2011

What C rating for the batt?
 H-KING_SCOTT 5159 points
With EDF, often, the higher the C rating, the better than the peroformance, however, capacity also has a bearing, generally, at least 25c for EDF, 30c better.

 waynemia 469 points
The ESC is a 30A. The recommended battery is a 1.8Ah. The minimum C rating that would allow 30A is 16.7, 30/1.8. 20C would give you some additional margin but additional margin helps keep the battery cooler.
sparkie  325 points - 2/18/2011

Should this take a 1300 or a 1800. States both in the description. Which is the correct one?
 dwvabeach 66 points
Either should work, you will need to adjust your CG slightly. I have heard of people flying them with packs as large as 2200. DW
 Eseck90 211 points
If you want to go fast use the 1800 mah, if your going to be slow-flying or trying high alpha moves try the 1300. Both packs after your CG and that causes the aircraft to perform deferently. For example if your airplane is nose heavy it flies better at high speeds versus being tail heavy which will cause the plane to pitch up and down, sometimes violently. My recomendation, start of with the 1800mah.

putting an 1800 pack will give you more flying time. also the bird will be a little heavy so will fly faseter. depends on your taste. i would go in for 1800 as i like speed.
 wifly 50 points
it can take either. the 1300ma will give you less flight time but will be lighter making the jetiger slightly faster. the 1800ma will give more flighttime but will make it heavier and hence slower
 kenstogie 78 points
A heavier battery, in this case the 1800 mah one, will weigh the plane down and force the plane to go faster to maintain lift. The lighter battery wont require as much lift as there is less weight. Typically the lighter battery would make it more agile i'd say.
 Charlesd 741 points
check out jet tiger mods on youtube and you will see me ripping the skies with my Jet tiger. Listen to all the modifications I have made. Kenstogie, let me know if it is Agile enough.. Wifly, heavier batt means heavier jet but Higher speeds. Lighter jet is more nibble/agile but little trust sometimes very squirrelly. I gonna try putting a 5 or even a 6-cell battery in my new one.. AS SOON AS HK decides to ship it >:[ Guys Post a comment, let me know what you think.
Bahamo  11 points - 11/27/2010

Hi guys Which motor i can buy for replacement? I saw that the standart motor burned after a few flights and so i want to have a new one... As replacement i want to buy a stronger motor for more speed but i want to stay at 3 cells lipos and i want hold the weight down so that i can land without poblems and keep the standart flying behavior. Because i want to fly a jet and NOT a stone :) Can you call me a setup you use in your jetiger? I dont know which motor i should buy because its my first edf jet :) And i have no experience with edfs.... Please help me dont be angry for my english because most of the words google translated for me :)
 Coloedf 149 points
you can move up to a 2200mah lipo 3 cell, and 4000kv motor, just move your battery back and your esc forward to balance out
Dirkfunk  7 points - 10/30/2010

Is this plane EPS or EPO?
 Coloedf 149 points
eps and flies great, upgrade to a 40amp esc and 2200mah lipo to really have fun
 TaterTotDW 197 points
Actually, it is EPO. At least, that is what the description says.

HOW FAST IS THIS JETIGER OUTTA THE BOX WITH A 3S 1500MAH BATTERY AND HOW BIG CAN IT BE UPGRADED TO WITH NO MODS TO THE AIRFRAME
 Charlesd 741 points
Yeah, it me in that video.. check it out. Modifications of the Jet Tiger by HK. There are some mods I did to just the body though. Just 0.093" Lexan fins(like shark belly fins) under the belly for rough landings. 0.015mm lexan small strip to get the jet to do tighter turns. I also strengthen the vertical stablizers with some hot glue at the base. There are more mods but it's electrical mods. Here are my 2 video links: www.link and www.link
 Charlesd 741 points
To answer more of your question. If you want to stay with 3s is going to go maybe 50-60mph. I would upgrade to a 2.5' or 64mm 7-blade EDF unit for more trust(PRODUCT ID: OR003-00108-7B
on HK site). or you can get this unit at Toysonics**** located at FL,USA. 1500mah batt would allow you about 3-5mins flight time with great throttle management.
 Coloedf 149 points
About 60-70 mph stock, flies better with a 2200mah lipo 3 cell, move the lipo back and put everything else up front, can upgrade to a 4000kv motor also, I replaced the stock radio with $pektrum and better high and low rates, flies great a my local park.

Flies very well but motor burned after only 5 flies. Each fly was 4 mn in duration. Motor was powered by LIPO 1600mah 3S 30C.

easy to put together, just looking at it, I would like trying to put thrust vectoring on it, it would interesting to see if it would make it look like it had a rudder.

Great Jet ! But do not try to run a 2200 3cell wide open on it's first run out! I did and well I'm ordering a new esc and or motor. I'll see when I test everything out. I recommend that you use the right batteries
