This is a great plane it fly's beautifully. we replaced toe propeller with a sturdier one that gave it much more forward speed and bent the metal undercarriage struts forward of the wing leading edge this allows us to take off and land on medium grass...however the only negative to this warbird is the lack of spare parts so if you breakit you need to be good at fabrication to keep it flying..

Question - I am looking to move from high wing trainers and powered gliders to something belly winged. I'm not sure if a warbird is the way to go or if I am better off with a modern sport plane set up and flown 'sensibly'.
I typically fly in low wind, in parks and would look for something 900-1200mm in wing span.
If a warbird is the go, would this Corsair be a good choice? I've heard the wing profile can be a little more forgiving than say the elyptical wing of the spit.
Thanks in advance...

Hi james did you end up trying one of these im the same been flying my bixlers axn for over 12 months now, i looking at going to something differant, my ultimate goal is to fly warbirds and eventually a spitfire, but want to try something else first, im self taught, fly in parks and also when not to windy, was looking at this, or a T28 or P51
 James 3 points
Hi aussiepaul, I got an 800mm P51 (FMS) and have had reasonable success with it. Not so much the plane, more me - it actually flies pretty well when set up and trimmed. I also have a Durafly P51 that I don't trust myself to fly yet. The guys I fly with have a couple of these Durafly P51s and swear by them. I've seen them in the air and they look really stable. The only thing they advise is better (easier) is the T28. I think if I were to take their council, my experience and what seems to be published on similar topics, I would say the T28 at 1000mm wingspan or greater represents a great choice for entry into parkfly warbirds - the Durafly would be perfect. Hope this helps - let me know how you get on!

Thanks james yer ive been tending towards the T 28 1100mm everyone says the same best first warbird stable easy to fly ok i have 1 on order will let you no how i progess happy flying

Question, many reviews saying pathetic landing gear, it should be able to handle a relatively smooth landing, possibly with a few kangaroo hops here and there on a smooth bitumen surface ? correct ?Can u buy replacements for these wheels. Also what is the biggest battery I can fit in this plane to give me extra power, without me having to cut away any extra power, if your going to reply to answer each part of my question :D Highly appreciated, best answer gets the coins, ill reward quickly

I have fitted a 11x8.5 2 blade prop to mine and can fly around on way less throttle. My three bladers didn't last long. I removed some foam just so the recommended 1300 3s would fit in and shut the battery door

Can you tell me what prop is a good replacement in 3 blade for standard one?
 michael 6 points
I am using a 11 x 8.5 2 blade seems to be better i didn't have my three blade props very long. I broke both mine before I got the plane flying properly but I am pretty new to flying

total newbie question, my corsair always pulls up even with maximum trim on the elevator. i am using an 1800Mah battery which starts where the 1300Mah should be and then back into the fuselage. is this making it taily heavy so its always pulling up?
 H-KING_SCOTT 5160 points
Yes, C of G needs to be moved forward.
yes it is...as a stock plane the 1300mah is a perfect balanced if u put a heavier battery u must try if it fits to go back into the rear of the plane a little more every plane has a balance point you should be able to balance the plane on one point..the 1800mah battery giving more power and speed may move the battery whilst flying cause weight transfers possible crash..bigger battery longer flight time but not the stock weight of plane try buying a couple extra and if its speed you wont more of

having trouble finding batteries that are not on backorder - can anyone help?
 cunningbaldrick 59 points
I have a 1300mah Dualsky that fits. Make sure you really trim down the aileron and elevator to 60 with -30 on the expo on this plane. I have crashed my corsair so many times it looks like frankenstein now. Also be careful of busting the engine mount. Alex

I had trouble fitting in 1300mAh battery, so I cut the foam inside the fuselage up to where you can see the deadweight has been glued underneath. This made the battery fit in alot easier, which could give you more room to fit other larger battery sizes.
fanny  511 points - 12/3/2010

This in not a good plane. Don't buy this one unless you are prepared for a lot of surgery
 cunningbaldrick 59 points
True. I bought one, crashed and cant replace the engine mount. Any ideas. Alex on Sunshine Coast
 Khang 1 points
The only adjustment i had to do was cut out the inside of the battery compartment for easier battery fit then it flew sweet. The tail vertical stab is abit tricky to install but that was about it. I crashed mine beyond repair on the 4th flight but that was my ***r skills as it was my first plane ever. First 3 flights were pretty stable, and the plane is cheap so i ordered exactly the same plane. Gonna fly it this weekend.

This is my first plane and I smashed the engine mount cause I had the expo set to -40(d'oh). Made a new one using the top of one of those small saxa salt bottles. The metal bit on the motor fits perfect in the end, so i 'stitched' it in with some fine fencing wire and drowned it in araldite. flies perfectly...nice plane.
 michael 6 points
I made a engine mount out of ply is still really light and works well. I broke the first one I made by not checking my battery in my transmitter and having it suddenly nose dive out of the sky for lack of range.

Been nearly a month since ordered from the Aus warehouse. Arriving before Christmas would be a bonus at this point...

What bateries are you guys using ? the hatch is tiny
 nealecarlaw 28 points
turnigy 1300 3s had to gouge out quite a bit of foam in the fuse and still a tight fit but it does fit
 EatAtJoes 780 points
Why $20 more for the kit is it just because its in the AUS warehouse? strange cause shipping this kit either way works out to be about the same (69.99 36.67 = $106.66 From HK) or (90.16 13.99 = $104.15 from AUS)
 fanny 511 points
Yes and there doesn't seem to be much in the Aus warehouse does there?
 thekhakinator 11 points
You guys reckon it's okay to use superglue with this foam, or?
 cunningbaldrick 59 points
Use araldite only. Works well. Dont use superglue...you will burn a hole right thru your model!!!!!!
 Khang 1 points
Super glue should NOT be used on this foam unless it specifically says foam acceptable. Ive tried super gluing the little antenae decal and after 3 minutes it burned a hole thru the foam. Battery hatch i had to cut out the inside of the hatch until you can see the deadweight underneath, this will make it much easier to fit the 3S 1300mAh battery in, and it flies fine.
 MR_VISION 8 points
Turnigy 1300 20c. Perfect fit. push it in with the leads facing out and to the front so they dont foul the hatch.

1 thumbs up!
Easy assembly and flew with little trim changes on 1300ma. Initial disappointment at speed but loose the wheels for better speed and easy under arm hand launch takeoffs. (Watch out for the left hand bank as you launch). Recommend taking aileron travel adjust back to 60pcnt and expo at plus 40pcnt to smooth out and give scale like manouveriing.
Its an Artech model at half the price.
Current favourite.

Flies very nicely required trimming in all axis Plenty of power the battery hatch need some slight modification to fit my batteries The plastic landing gear clip-ons move in flight so it is easier to do away with them. the colour scheme is not quite right and there is no pilot. The long handled philips screwdriver is a real bonus

Both aileron horns were very loose and it would have been unflyable as shipped. Also the elavator servo lead had not been run forward so I had to cut a hole in the bulkhead behind the pilots seat to find it. It is quite slow, stable, docile stall and easy to land. No documentation for setups e.g. C of G and ESC. Stabiliser very thin and fragile. Overall pleasant flying reasonably well constructed aircraft

Had my doubts about this plane initially based on the cheap price & some quality issues raised in other reviews.
Had crush damage to the rear vertical stab which required cutting & regluing with epoxy to repair.
Was surprised how docile it was to fly. Too slow by far & obviously needed a better prop. Changed the standard 3 blader for a 9.5 x 7.5 from a Parkzone T28. Wow! What a difference. Remove the gear as standard undercarriage is useless.

Put this Corsair together this morning and flew it this afternoon. Realy nice flying and very stable for the size. Yeah power is lacking a fair bit so I will try what the other member said and try the parkzone T28 prop on it. Went together eazy and quick. Well done HK and a big tick from me.
