Does this helicopter come with a motor pinion or will i have to buy one and how many teeth does my pinion need if i have a 20C 6S 3000mah battery and want about 7-8 min of basic hovering and flight no 3D?
If this has been asked already and I missed it I apologize: What digital servos would you suggest for cyclic and which one for the tail? Preferably some that won't break the bank :-)
I have had tail problems with my 500 gt since I got it, finally I got a good fix. buy a 550 tail hub setup for like 12 .00 dollars and change out the hub. you will need to make a little piece of brass tube to fill the gap in the shaft due to new part. I used a 4mm female bullet grinded down to size. works GREAT!!!! Tail is sooo strong now I can fly with out worrying the dam tail will explode.
I replaced with align pushrods and ball ends. Won't fit the ones that are directly on the blade grips though ... plastic part too long. HK has theirs in stock now: SKU: GT500-145. Also, HK says the align #s are H50091 and H50054. What I have is align #H50091(steel links) and H60071TA(plastic parts - actually says for Trex600). Looks like the 50054 is what I should use for the shorter blade connections ... but I cant verify the thread diameter. Sounds like you should also get the the h50091.
Hello....Only that I can said is " I'm verry happy with this Heli,,,,HK-500GT and I payed $ 69.00" versus $ 500.00 for a Trex 500!!!!! It's big diference... and goog quality... Only use a $pektrum transmmiter.
I bought this last fall I am very impressed with the quality you can not even dream of getting a 500 class heli for this price and if you are unhappy (with any part witch I was not) it is fully compatible with the t-Rex so you can exchange parts .But you should not have to worry about that cos it is just that good. If you spend the money you will be happy you did.UNBEATABLE DEAL.
People bash this heli but its a great kit! I had a 450 and thats why im getting the 500. Its cheap and if you crash just walk into your hobby store and pick up the align parts. Now you have the best of both worlds! The HK has great quality and they have really fixed things! Don't listen to others get the HK-500 and try it yourself!
i just bought the same heli 2 weeks ago. everything went together without a problem. the canopy came cracked but i am upgrading to fiberglass anyways. screws are much stronger than the 450's are. flies great and smooth.

Please help. No email reply and cannot get C/S on the phone. Can anyone supply me with the recommended parts to complete the HK-500GT 3D kit? From the Required Items list I've only pinned down the 2 batteries (2200mAh 3S 20C). I need the links or part numbers for the motor, servos (& how many), ESC and a decent radio transmitter. Thanks.
i got 60amp esc, standard servos (if you not doing 3d) if doing 3d need to look at cyclic servos look under 500 class motors,i gat a 1600kv motor and it fits right in (im not finished yet on all the parts yet. also you can down load the trex 500 manual there are a lot of different items to choose from
Thanks for the help. I ordered the parts you suggested and they are starting to arrive. HK customer support finally responded to my email. All they said was they could not advise what parts I needed and suggested I come here. The problem is (and still is) when I click on the "view related items" link, nothing happens. It does however work on other models throughout HK's site.
I'll keep everyone posted on my progress and they eventual maiden flight.

I have a full list of parts that I'm using for this heli. And FYI, i'm using the 3000mah 6s battery in this heli. Should balance out perfect.
Don't feel alone, I ordered mine 8 days ago, and it said "processing" until 2 days ago. The same for the order i placed from hong kong. both now show a tracking number and they claim to have shipped them, but tracking numbers are not recognized. up until now they have been outstanding on shipping from both sites. just have to sit and wait i guess eh?
hk whats going on i have tried to call and e mail you but no response i ordered this helli over a week ago and it still has not left your warehouse i check the status this morning and now it says there has ben a hold order given to staff what is goung on???? where is my order
I wouldnt worry about it. It can take a couple weeks to get the boxes shipped. But once it ships it comes pretty quick. I have had the boxes show in Customs and it shows up at my house that day. Thats happened to me several times. Dont worry about stuff coming from the HK wharehouse till about 4 weeks. Batteries from the US wharehouse show up in a week. Helos from the US wharehouse show up in about 8-10 days in the US
IT should be there in 8 - 10 days. You didnt order something else did you? That could have gone back order? Its probably some you need to call and have the hold taken off the product that the hold is on. OR just tell them you will order it later.
also chinese new year just pass by, they always announce that shipping will be affected on this kind of holiday. mine took almost a month to arrive, ordered late january and just receive a couple of days ago. just hang in there.
Send email to customer service, it seems to get faster attention. Hobbyking does have the best price, however, they are slow on shipping. Once your order leaves the warehouse, it will get to you pretty fast. Here is the email address cs@hobbyking.com. Hope this help.
i realy shouldent have complaned i order a lot from hk and it has never taken longer than 14 days to get to me no matter where i order it from so realy its not a big deal i was just in a gurry to get this bird in the air..lol my only gripe is pleas hk stock the servos gyros and esc motors that we need in the usa wherehouse so we can get our stuff in one order instead of make two from diffrent wherehouses it would be nice to get the electronics with the bird on the same day but other than that keep it up hk
One step at a time Grasshopper. It just opened up today, we may get lucky but at least you can buy a 500 all metal heli in the USA for 77 shipping now.
It only makes sense that HK stock the heavy items overseas because that's what costs an arm-and-leg to ship. Fully-stocked overseas warehouses just takes up more space and drives up management costs.
Ragamofyn**You should take business classes. The whole point of having a warehouse is to stock it with stuff. If I wanted to keep buying stuff from Hong Kong I wouldn't care if they opened a warehouse in the U.S.
I have taken quite a few business classes. And you want to start making a profit on a new endeavor as quickly as you can to make it a more viable resource. By shipping larger products first and making them available immediately they offer faster shipping while starting to generate revenue to off set the cost of shipping more products to the USA location. A viable strategy in this day and age where many markets are struggling to even stay afloat. Hobby Kind has also generated a great way to advertise the new warehouse because many people will come to check periodically to see what is added. Way to go Hobby King! Your doing a great job!
HK has landed in the U.S.!! Ordered a HK500GT tuesday morning and will have it friday.. Priority (3day) shipping was $11.06 Making the HK500GT $85.11 to my door in three days. Simply amazing. dont be to disappointed when that new bird doesnt land at your door friday.2-3 day shipping is only effective if they get it to the post office wednesday and they didnt do that with my 450 pro.took 2 days for them to process the order. but still beats 3 weeks from china.
Well I was wrong.. I ordered it on tuesday, expected it friday and it was on my doorstep before noon thursday. $85.11 to my door in three days without a scratch. Kit looks very nice. Very few minor diffrences from my Align 500E. I like it so much that I am going to get the 600CF next payday, I just hope they are still in stock here. HK you guys are amazing, you just opened your facility here and your already kicking major butt here. You folks have earned my business with flying colors and I plan to do a lot of business with you in the near future. Maybe some of these over priced retailers are going to have to step up their game. Great heli !!!! use any of the suggested motors even the lower kv has plenty of punch on this bird. I also started using nano tech batteries smaller lighter and dont even get warm like the turnigys do

You must be affiliated with an Align retailer that can no longer rip off customers with your inflated prices. Get a grip. Just like Thunder Power and it's price fixing tactics. Your going down man.
However there were some small issues, and things you should replace with Align parts.
First off, the links are horrible. Not a single one fit. They are WAY too tight. The plastic seems very brittle. Replace with Align! The tail: Replace the tail hub, and grips with Align. The tail case is fine, as are the bearings. Flybar paddles: Performance wise they suck. Align plastic=the best Mixer arms: The plastic ones have alot of flex to them. Replace with Align. Much stiffer. Other than that mine is fling GREAT. The all metal head is VERY high quality and IS CNC machined. NOT cast. There are very clear machining marks. I suggest getting some Align 80pcnt dampners AND the ESP feathering shaft sleeve. If you need to replace the bottom frame plastic part, buy the one for the HK-T500. The plastic is harder. I cracked the plastic where the landing skid bolts down with light pressure. I'm flying with the Turnigy Typhoon 500H motor, 100A HK SS ESC, 3000mah 40C 5S Zippy with 13T pinion. 2650 Head Speed 5:30 of sport flight. Turnigy MG930s cyclic, HK401B with Futaba 9257. Turnigy 9X TX/RX.
