I want to buy the HK-450GT full Alloy and i also want this one for the spare parts. So is this compatible with the 450GT full alloy? Because here it says 90% is compatible with t-rex but the 450GT full alloy says 99% Compatible with trex.

Although some of the parts will be interchangeable, they are mostly plastic. If you need a replacement head or tail, this is a cheap source of parts. I would suggest you just buy two GTs and you have a batch of spare parts. By the time you pay shipping on a couple spares, you could have bought a complete replacement bird. If you are learning, just buy a couple BB kits and viola, instant spares.

Not good idea. If something will happen with head parts, You will change from alloy to plastic. Same about tail gear.

Does this have the 4mm Feathering shaft??? I was thinking of using this for spares for my HK450-MT(except not using the plastic bits) Would most of this be compatible with the HK450-MT?

Verified (I just received mine) to be a V1 (3mm feathering shaft) head and tail. Good news is that the tail belt drive gear is splined to the shaft. Also has one-piece landing skid.

Hi, My HK 450 barebones has the 3mm feathering shaft, I know this because on Sunday I had an unexpected sudden arrival with good old mother earth and sheered the feathering shaft. Luckyly I had spare align 3mm shafts so just 5-10 min job and all ready to go again.

Considering it is V1... not sure... Is that similar to V2? What are the differences?
|
|
|
| |
|
asdfrtyuvbnm
(21%)
the difference is the feathering shaft and the amount of alu alloy. They v1 has a 3mm shaft and the v2 has a 4mm shaft. The 3mm shaft always bends in a crash and the 4mm never bends. but, due to the plastic head, it really doesn't matter because the plastic always breaks before the shaft does.Once you crash be sure to replace with v2 parts.

Blade grips look like V1. There's a lot of plastic on the head. Possibly also 3mm feathering shaft? Can anybody confirm that this kit is V1? Jason?

Like you say, are there v2 plastic main blade grips? The thing is, on the cheap ver2 kit the main blade grips also look like plastic to me in the picture, bit different though. Spares are:F002(plastic) and F002U (metal). With F002U it's unclear wether it's 3 or 4mm and description does'nt say. Looking at the bearings I'd say V1. But there's also this kind of discussion going on. I can't find any others, so no 4mm spares available at hobbyking?
The main differences between V1 and V2 are 4mm feathering and thrust bearings (like in de esky belt v2 king v3?), correct? When I get it I wil measure the feathering shaft and let you guys know wether it is 3 or 4mm.
The one I have now is the 3mm so that would be fine by me. Metal/alu parts of the are probably stronger but I'm not sure if they would survive a crash and they are more expensive to replace* so as a beginner I'll stick with the plastic v1 head then.

I have received this kit and can confirm that it is the V1 version with the cheapo landing gear but does have the black fins. Don't recommend buying this for building up a helicopter when you can get the V2 with blades and canopy for an extra $7 but this is great for spare parts

The big advantage to this kit over the V2 is in shipping weight. With this kit at 649g you can add a motor, esc, 4 servos, pinion, gyro and fiberglass blades and still be under the 1kg shipping weight. Rx ready less a canopy, saves 7 bucks on the kit and 10 bucks on shipping just for 1mm in feathing shaft size

Almost at a throw away price. Fly it hard, on first sign of any issue chuck it for new BB. Nothing like NEW parts.

It is a good philosophy. However, higher quality components, do fly better under harder flight conditions. That said though, at this price, your comment is most valid for any beginner. Or even buy two of the 450GT's if you want to fly hard.
Either way, the price of this heli kit is unbeatable.

Just received 3 of these. I assembled one kit and tried flying it yesterday. It was difficult to hover and seemed that there was a point in spinning up that it would just jump up and be real hard to hold a hover. I have also purchased the GT PRO version and it is better flying than this version. I bought these for crash kits and found that there is way too much differance between the 2 models. But for $20 they are a good deal.
