what esc would i need if use this on a 64mm 10 blade?
Christine  1 points - 2/18/2013

Just purchased an Icon A5 from you and they say I should use a 2815-KV1500 brushless motor. Do you supply these as I cannot find it on your site. I also need a 30A brushless escapement. Do you also have this. I purchased the ones that were advertised for this plane but the power has been updated so I now need the above

anybody know if this motor fits in the HK swamp dawg airboat?
 magnusEl 1238 points
Thats not going to work. This motor is for 55-64mm fans and will not be capable to turn the prop for the swamp airboat.

Will this work on 68mm EDF? (If not, why?)
 MetalStorm 6 points
It will work

Another question: how many poles has the motor? Which ESC is applicable, is it worth to try a SuperSimple or will it result in smoke? 30 A or 40 A?
 magnusEl 1238 points
The kV4800 have 6 magnet poles, and I am pretty sure this is the same.
Can not say if SuperSimple will work, sorry...

I just received this motor. 6 magnets, 9 coils. Looks nice (not yet tested). 3.17 mm shaft useless confirmed. Mounting holes are M2,5, not M2! Mounting holes circle diameter is 16 mm, not 18 mm.

Have been running the motor which is rated at 17.8 C on the TowerPro Mag8 (25C rated) without any problem thus far.
Good rule of thumb is to never go below max current draw of the motor with your ESC.

 MetalStorm 6 points
Based on current draw by the motor, a 20A ESC should be fine, but it's always good to have a little head room, so 25A and up will be more than enough.

What diameter has the motor on mounting side? Does it fit for EDFs which are thought for 2040 types?
 magnusEl 1238 points
It is 19,9mm. The 3,17mm shaft is useless for this motor, it does not fit in the 3mm bearings.

What shaft comes standard? Also, how is it possible to have three different shafts to choose from? Wouldn't you also need to change the bearings?
 magnusEl 1238 points
3mm shaft is mounted. The 2,3mm is 3mm exept for the last 12mm where it is 2,3mm
The 3,17 shaft has the same dia all length and does not fit!!

WIll it fit if we changed the bearings to ones with 3.175 holes? What about the internal of the motor?

Awesome motor, 540W on peak with a 5*5 prop and a 3S 1600 35C hyperion.

Motor appears to be of good quality. On a GWS 64mm, 6-blade fan, Hyperion 3S 2500mAh 25C, Phoenix 25A ESC-low timing, I was pulling 22 amps and 239 watts at 11 volts WOT. Sorry no thrust data, but holding the unit in my hand produced impressive thrust for a 64mm fan. The website says 17.8 amps as 'load current'. If I understand that to mean max continuous, than a five blade fan may be better. No thrust data, but impressive for 64mm unit.

Looks are good, some flaws.
I had to rebalance both of my motors, I needed lots of CA to balance them but after balancing they ran fine.

Axles supplied with motors were 2.3mm , 3mm and 3.3mm , but 3.3 mm will not fit because the hole is already almost too tight for 3mm axle!
I had to use brute force and hammer to get 3mm axle of and install 2.3mm.

Real life performance will tell more.

I bought 2 of these for a GWS-262. I use 2 25A tower pro ESCs and a turnigy 2200mah lipo. Its too much for the lipo, it gets hot and puffed out. I'll try a 2600 mah next. Great motors, lots of power. Great value.

I have a put a post in the forum with stats for this motor a few of its brothers and sisters but ill put them here too. Motor is good quality and I think will run on 4S fine if kept under 500W.
