Hi I bought this plane for my second jet but I have some issues on installing the receiver which of the wire goes to 1, 2, 3, 4 im using d8r-II plus and turnigy 9x. The first plane I got comes with everything and I can play so this one I dont know how to install the wires to the receiver as there are so many 8 channel.please help.
 EZflight 29 points
for sure the 3rd servo pins are for ESC. you can test each numbers with servos and try to control it with your redio by doing this you can identify which wire are for.
 Ross 2 points
For the Turnigy 9XV2 with the stock 9ch receiver the pins are as follows:

1: Aileron
2: Elevator
3: Throttle (where you plug lead from ESC for receiver power)
4: Rudder
5: Landing Gear (Gyro for Helis)
6: Auxilliary 1 (Pitch Control)
7: Auxilliary 2 (Flaps or for Dual Ailerons)
8: Auxilliary 3

Good as first EDF plane ? I ve been flying a bixler and now a aerobatical decathlon doing rolls looping .. THanks !!
 AegeanFox 42 points
If you are used to fast flying yes it could be nice..... but for your first edf flights i would suggest a trainer edf jet or a high-winged jet like AMX T-45 A-6 F-8 T-33 etc
 bturby 47 points
I would definitely suggest an f18 for a first edf they are very stable and forgiving
Ahmad  1 points - 1/7/2013

Hi,,how to setting stock esc.. use TX
 AegeanFox 42 points
connect the esc to your Rx throttle channel then plug the battery

soy nuevo en esto y quisiera saber que tipo de radio comprar para este avion y quisiera saber si me serviria el mismo radio para otro modelo....
 Thrustline 18 points
Si, no problemo any good 4 channel will work fine from another plane. Cualquier radio de 4 canales funciona bien.

Anyone have the motor specs?
 marvin8888 139 points
its a 28mm outrunner with 4000kv.
sihinch  28 points - 9/16/2011

Does anyone know who the manufacturer of this 64mm F4 Phantom is? It's not Starmax. I just want to understand a little about the quality of electrics supplied with the model.
 carl 25 points
the manufacture is do-model the f4 compagnie??!! it's this on the box
 marvin8888 139 points
its an e-do model. its all eps foam, very light and very fragile. it almosts floats on air especially on landing, its electronics are good been flying this model for three moths now and nothing came close to failing.
Nasir Subhan  24 points - 4/23/2011

Hi guys, just wanted to know whether someone had tried 4 S on stock motor with an upgraded ESC? 2. Is the stock motor same as the one sold under HK 64mm EDF combo with 45 A ESC? 3. I can't get the down elevator right because of different control horn position on each elevator piece.
 F100CUFFLINK 879 points
i dont think it will work with a 4S the kv is a bit high and dont know if its only for a 3S ANYWAY.
Vant tell if its the same system that is being sold but it very well could be ,,if you want to upgrade it from 3S to 4S i would get a better fan system.

I'm probably gona put in rclander's 64mm 4300 KV edf combo in it. Any thoughts about the HK 64 mm upgrade combo?
 F100CUFFLINK 879 points
yea its a great system the metal unit i have the same one , the metal(aluminum) helps keep the system (motor ) cool i had the 65mm and the 70mm 43ookv good pick you getting
 F100CUFFLINK 879 points
im refireing to the RC LANDER SYSTEM ONLY thats the best of the litter sort of speek , go with the RCLANDER or any aluminum system ,as far as the HKsystem i dont know,m some of there fans are great ,i just got a 90MM and love it but i had to balance it but that was no big deal.
if you dont have a WATTmetter you should get one to make sure you dont burn out anything(electrical).
lots of luck ill check back if you got anyother questions.

Heres a question that has nothing to do with this aircraft, where can I purchace a vector hinge unit complete from, Im building my own plane and its heaps simpler to buy one, I cant find one here anywhere or anywhere else for that matter.
 Rob 1 points
You may try Ebay, PM me if you find a unit. I would like one myself.

Regards,

Rob

1.Can I replace the EDF unit in this airplane, if so what unit do you recommend. 2. How about battery, what battery will help the performance without adding too much weight. 3. Motor, is there an upgrade that can be purchased for this airplane? 4. ESC? 5. I am new to ELEC RC, I have several years of RC from Helicopters to 1/4 scale. Any help is appreciated. 6. Oh, what is the difference between this F-4 and the other for $99? Thanks for the help! Regards, Rob Austin from Renton WA.
 morphine 406 points
Buddy you need to buy a watt meter immediately. It will answer questions for you and save your equipment. Look for it here and get it ordered. I hope this has helped.
 Rob 1 points
Okay, thanks morphine, I have a meter that I use on full size full airplanes and will put it to use. Can you recommend any equipment that I should purchase after buying the airplane?

Have you bought the Phantom yet?? You seem to want to change the whole Plane. Change this and change that. Buy a Kit from somewhere and practice and you can change as much as you like. Nothing wrong with this kit cepting mainly some Pilots eh??? Good Luck Mate
 arcticflyer 21 points
Yes you can carefully pry the hatch open where the fan is located. the fan has a little hot glue applied to it and must be pulled free very carefully. A good motor upgrade is the HK2836 3500kv with a 60AMP ESC. With a 4S lipo that should make that jet come alive.

Does this plane come with the decals installed or do you have to put them on?
 ingeniumsl 56 points
Hi. They are not applied. You have to do it. Good quality decals, but no excellent. They are vinyl one no water-slide.
 sellman 123 points
you have to put them on yourself.
 Rob 1 points
Yes! The decals are installed and theyare nicley done.
__Asad  2519 points - 3/14/2010

EPS, EPP or EPO?
 __Asad 2519 points
Found the answer on the manufacturer's product page: "Precision molded EPS airframe with outstanding detail and scale appearance."

Link: e-domodel****/products_sow.asp?ProID=64
 sellman 123 points
its eps.but very stiff,good quality.
 Rob 1 points
Hello,

This model is EPS. Not too bad out of the box. As with any ffoam model, set your works area up so you do not mar the airpplane while assembling.

Got mine delivered yesterday.

Beautiful plane! EDF draws around 30A static on 3S. Servos are strong and center well (although I've replaced mine with InoLab digital servos). Ducting is smooth and well designed - inlet duct area is considerably greater than the fan swept area, and exhaust duct is around 90% of swept area - good for take-offs but will hurt the top end. The only weak point I can immediately see is the ESC. It's labeled 30A, but it's TINY! Wafer thin and about half the size of a Turnigy Plush 25A. If you're ordering this plane, add a 40A Turnigy Plush to your order - especially if you plan to run 4S. The stock speedy will cook in a matter of seconds on 4S, I'm sure of it.

The fan has an access hatch, but you have to do a bit of surgery to get to the electronics. I cut a rectangle out of the bottom of the fuse with a fresh blade and it'll be invisible once I glue it back. The glue used is a nice gooey kind that enables you to slowly pull components out of the airframe without damaging the foam. I've removed the stock fan and am fitting a WeMoTec mini pro with an ARC 28-58-1 inrunner and 80A Turnigy ESC. Going to run on 5S. Should have a fair amount of grunt, but the weight might be an issue. Could end up with an unguided missile on my hands...

Oh, the battery compartment is 35mm across, and deep and long enough to hold pretty much anything you want to shove in there. Tested the fan with a massive 5000mah 3S, and there was room to spare.

All in all, I'm incredibly impressed with this plane. Very very well made, and an incredible bargain.
 BCBasher 308 points
Is fan acess via the top of botom of the plane?
BEST ANSWER CREDIT AWARDED
 Brent 87 points
Hey Basher.

Access hatch is directly under the fan unit on the bottom of the plane. Quite neat, and held in place by 2 screws.

why did you increase weight of box
gazza2009au  310 points - 1/21/2010

BCBasher i dont understand this u were blowing up rotors yet u want hobby city to stock them?
 BCBasher 308 points
If the price is righ they are easy to change and they make good power. With the right motor (like the 4300kv in this kit) they'd be bulletproof with a litlle less thrust. I think the 4600kv in the profile edfs is pushing them. I can handle less longevity to gain thrust by pushing somthing past specs. I personaly have as much fun if not more working on my planes as I do flying.
gazza2009au  310 points - 1/20/2010

wow now this is a bargain and look under 1.5kg shipping weight i highly doubt this model will be instock for very long
 TrevJonez 570 points
not to mention the picture shows it comming with a deans plug but i bet it will be xt60 or whatever the HK plug is now
 BCBasher 308 points
My floater-jet just came with deans as shown. Soldering a connector shouldn't be a deal breaker or you are in the wrong hobby.
 BCBasher 308 points
By the way who is the manufacturer?
 CrashinDutchman 281 points
Anyone have a link to a video that shows the capabilities of this plane?
 gazza2009au 310 points
it can fit a 4cell lipo in there it can even fit 2200mah 3cell packs very nice!
 gazza2009au 310 points
their were 6 instock they sold within hours of being listed lol hobby city please bring on more bargains with low shipping weight

 BCBasher 308 points
Thanks for the mfg. champ, If thats and EDO fan I was blowing up rotors with a 4600kv on my profile f-22 on 3cell at 1 1/2 hrs of mixed flying or less. 4cell on a 3200kv would be pushing it pretty hard you'd want it balanced pretty good. Hobby King should get these fans and the standoff outrunners seperate as they are decent otherwise.
 BCBasher 308 points

 battlestu 39 points
for those of you that have this plane do you think the stock landing gear/wheels will handle a grass field?
 Brent 87 points
Small wheels, particularly the front one. Hand launches easily, so don't bother with the wheels.

22 thumbs up!
Great jet , great price ! like it says everything is there installed , you only have to epoxy the wings and tail with the epoxy supplied , hour and you are good to go .
Surprisingly the motor is quite good and moves the jet along quite nicely with some good speed , there is a little vibration at throttle but after that its fine . C/G they say is 88mm to 98mm I flew mine at 90mm and it was fine , the battery I used was the Rhino 1350mAh 3S 11.1v 25C Lipoly Pack and took off in under 20m off grass I think you could get away with a little bigger battery , very good in the air and landing you need to keep the speed up a tad , not a floater like the f18 , Good flying boys ENJOY !

Great jet! Not underpowered at all. Very short take offs, even from grass field. Pilots are only two dimensional. Paintsheme and decals are really detailed. Assembly is easy, good instructions. Foam feels really brisk and dents easily, not EPO. Battery compartment can house a 2200mah 3sp1. Aileron travel should be about 10mm, anything bigger will spin the hell out if it. Get's shipped in good box. 4 stars for foam quality, otherwise awesome!

Nice work "nevercon " if you had bothered to reag the spec you would have fould out that it recommends a 1300mah not a 2200mah you nob , no wonder it flies so crap , EVERYONE don't take any notice of him it this a great plane for the price ,its not underpowered and its very impressive in the air

everythink is perfect with this plane exept for the canopy paint wich is very poor and undetailed. in some spots of the canopy there are random spray close to the bars that simulate the wireframe.Other than that it is a perfect plane for advanced pilots, fast and agile.
