I used double sided foam tape, it holds well to plastic covering. I also painted it to match the plane

Thin double sided tape. AND a couple small pieces of soft side velcro approx a quarter inch to each side of the attachment points will take out the wobble of the bomb but not effect the drop.

I cut all the tabs off and glued magnets in place to hold the bomb together. Splits apart alot easier now.

very good idea, but how do you get them (the 2 shells) to hold, mine cracks and splinters - 2 drop (non load) and they where broken to bits.

Just received mine. Looks good out of the box and works perfectly during indoor testing but haven't tested it in flight yet. Reading some of the complaints about how fragile the plastic is, I cut a heap off each of the four connecting rods so that the bomb splits open much easier. Hopefully this should help it survive a bit better.

i did exactly that, -but it did not help, sadly the only lasted/survived 2 drops from below 100feet. -and with no load on board

If you want to keep it from braking when you drop it. I open mine and brush on 5 min epoxy glue in side both haves and it work great. Makes it a little heaver but not too bad. I’ve drop those 7 times now, from about 100 and 200 feet, and still working. A lot of scathes.

What did you drop it on to? Concrete? What temperature was it? I know that the bombs were made from PP then they changed to Nylon later. Nice photo, however.

hmmm, -nice drop mechanism but the bombs i got was way to fragile, 2 drops from below 100feet, and the were s****. - they should have been made of the same material as the HK-450 (first version) canopies, they are virtually indestructible.

Guys if you fly with the BMFA (British model flying association) im pretty sure this will get your licence revoked. if i remember there was a chunk in there about projectiles being fixed onto RC heli's or anything that mimics a projectile and hence can cause unrest... just bear that in mind

I never understood why they needed a 'license' for R/C. Do you need to undertake an exam to get the License? Or is it just a method used to make you pay your yearly insurance premium?

I think to fly at a most recognised airfields (and hence be insured by the BFMA) you need to attain a license and pass a short verbal exam / flight test. the reason being fairly simple... To make sure you are not going to lose control and fly into someone's head in a packed airfield... Though personally i much preffer flying at my local park (when its empty)

So it's just a piece of neat looking plastic that falls out of the sky when triggered?
Is that it?
I don't see any fun factor unless it goes kaboom (sound effect), with non-lethal pyrotechnics and shatters in pieces.
Is someone hoping to poke holes in roofs or make it do what golf balls do to windscreens?

It says that it can be filled with chalk dust (check out your local hardware store to find it in red or blue) that will simulate an explosion on inpact.

James, I have been to a club where they made a competition out of trying to drop the bomb within a 3mtr circle marked on the ground. It's much harder than you think. Of course dropping something from a plane is boring, but try to hit a mark and you will find it very difficult.

we've been doing bomb drops at all fun-flys we have (couple a year)....quite the challenge to hit the bulls-eye (3 meter circle in middle of runway)...the fun is watching other people release their bomb and they seem to watch their bomb instead of their plane....sometimes their plane hits the ground before the bomb!! Cool item
