An excellent parkflyer sized EDF jet (EPO). The F-15(EPO) jet comes 95% pre-built and comes with a powerful 30A brushless EDF system and steerable nose wheel. Because the F-15 is made from EPO, it is very resistant to breakage and will literally bounce in light crashes. The material is also easily repairable and quite flexible.

Does this aircraft have Ailerons? I don't see the linkages or the servos for them.

No ailerons. This plane is run by setting up elevator as "elevon" ie elevator and aileron mixing. See video above in this discussion on how this works. Then again there is plenty of foam on the wings if you wanted to install independant ailerons.

I have run up the EDF after ballancing on a 4S out of the airframe. Unfortunately I stuffed my old watt meter and am waiting for the replacement. The BSC did get quite warm. I'll try it again in the airframe later next week once my bits are in. I suspect I'll up the ESC ayway to be safe.

Hey Chrissy47, have you got around to doing more testing of this EDF with 4S LiPO? I got the kit and wasn't all that impressed with the performance with 3S so I have ordered a 4S battery and Plush 40A ESC to try it out. Thanks

Alot of customers are getting good results with a 4S setup as 3S isnt providing the RPM's needed.

Another impulse buy. LOL This should make a nice long term project, the wings look thick enough to take 2 more 9g servos for adding ailerons and a Y cable to the 2 elevator servos for standard elevator. probably enough room for some retracts, if not I suspect I'll leave the gear off.

You will need a servo reverse on one side of the "Y" cable to the elevators, otherwise they will work as ailerons (in oposite directions)

No Reverser needed, Most modern fighter jets balance as a delta/flying wing. You use elevon/delta mix and the horizontal tail (elevators) can do both pitch and roll. The roll rate on these setups is kinda slow wich can be good if your learning. If your radio has ATV you can reset your linkages for the most mechanical throw and then dial down the elevator ATV on your transmiter. The size of the surfaces on this look like it'd cruise real smooth but no agresive rolling manevers.

Ok now that the xmas/new year festivities are out of the way.
Fan: OD = 73mm. I will need to take the fan out and check the impeller as it isn't perfectly centred, but it does seem to run ok. Nice little pull out hatch thats a perfect fit to gain access to the fan unit.
The EPO moulding on this is just superb and everything fits together perfectly.
It is Tian Sheng Item No. TS827-A, F-15 Eagle Series Shuttler.
Did I say the EPO on this is superb. LOL.
For anyone wanting a nice 70 size F-15 that has plenty of room for customizing, this is a great kit.

Any comments in general on elevon setup and flight characteristics on these mid sized EDF's. I've never flow elevon before, I've always had aileron/elevator independant. Would appreciate any user comments. Seems a big bird to fly elevon only, but that may just be my inexperience.

Better to use 2 extra servos for ailerons, it's easier to adjust independently: the ailerons and the elevator. I have used both ways and separate is beter.

It says "Required:Your own TX & RX (with V-type mixing)" so yeah elevons but it has a steerable nose wheel so it needs that 4th channel even though it has no rudders.

But the shenzen is eps and this is imho epo a much better foam. That is if the specs are to be accepted as accurate. I still want it but pulled the trigger on another jet from here the day this came out i was so upset now trying to convince someone to get me this for a gift!!!

Its definately EPO and very nice EPO at that.
The Fan unit is also Definately 70mm. The casing OD is 73mm so the actual ID is probably around the 69mm mark. The exhaust nozzles are way too thick and restrictive, but the good nes is they are easily tapered out with the dremel followed up with a light sand with 240 grit and then sealed with some thin epoxy like 5:1 180 to strengthen them up. This opens them up from about 38mm to 46mm. If you were to cut them off and fabricate some bigger cans more like the real ones feathered open the increase in size would beeven bigger. Inlets are 73mm x 33mm so probably no need for cheat holes. We will see once I do some more mods and try some thrust tests.
