Quanum 2.4Ghz Telemetry System (Volt/Amp/Temp/mAh) V2
Quanum 2.4Ghz Telemetry System (Volt/Amp/Temp/mAh) V2

The Quanum telemetry system gives real-time and accurate voltage, current, mAh and temperature display plus low voltage warnings via a robust 2.4Ghz DSSS connection.
The receiver pannel is a large 132x64 LCD and attaches directly to your existing radios antenna for convenient at-a-glance in-flight status checks.
The Quanum Telemetry system will also warn you when your battery pack is approaching 3.2v per cell with a variable audio tone. No more deadstick landings!
And because its 2.4Ghz DSSS it wont interfere with your existing system, no matter what channel youre on!
The Quanum Telemetry system transmits a narrow, lightweight signal 4 times a second and uses DSSS technology to ensure no conflicts with other systems close by. Included is an inbuilt 450mAh Li-ion power source and a convenient in-car and PC USB charge jack!

Are there any certificate papers to download? like declaration of conformity and CE ? It's needed to get it pass the customs in EU.
   80Alle (55%)
I buy 2 of them, I live in italy, andth customs don't ask me nothing! They are fantastic!
   John (38%)
Make sure that when you make your own, that the antenna portion (center conductor sticking out) is the EXACT same length as the factory antenna. If not then it will not preform the same because these are frequency sensitive.

Hi medixx ,

Yes I read "Binding" in the display, but did not bind.:(

   technicapot (75%)
there must be a green light on the tx for it to bind. you must power up the tx then press the two button on the rx. it take less then 10 sec.
   technicapot (75%)
the binding shown on the display does not mean that it is binding. you did the correct thing. but when I bind I dont see any red flashing light. the display on the rx just popped up when it finish binding,it should not take more than couple of seconds to show the display voltage of the batt. maybe you should plug in your lipo in the tx, so that the rx will show the display and prove that you have binded it.

I tried several times but did not bind.I did exactly as described below.
"For binding: connect the balancer plug while keeping the bind button ond transmitter pushed. A green led should be on permanently. Then release the bind buttin: the green led starts blinking fast. Then turn on reciever while bind button on reciever is pushed (you can red binding in the display). Then the green led on the transmitter will turn to a slower flashing when bind is complete "

Can you read "Binding" in the display?

Hello , I buy the last V 2, but it is impossible to Binding.
   NP Austria (86%)
1,-on the transmitter BIND POWER button always press antil the word "binding" is on the display.Jet loos off the buttons quickly. 2,-press the bindbutton on the recever always and connect the reciver with the balance-cable on you accu. wait antil the transmitter display show you the voltage. jet you can releasing the bind button.

Did any of you experience any signal losses using the Quanum telemetry in combination with the Futaba FASST system? Could call it a coincidence, but the first time I used the Quanum system resulted in a crash due to total signal loss for me. Both on the quanum system and the FASST system and I never had any problems with the FASST system before. thanks in advance

Anyone interested in this, save yourself the hassle and wait with buying until some staff comes up with some explanation and an excuse why they have been scamming people with V2 listing, and still sending V1. How hard is it for a developer to make a decent user manual that everybody understands. Don't buy it - wait until the product, and whoever is responsible for this one gets mature!
   Ron Toc (34%)
It happened to me also, I wonder if the V2 ever exist ?

anyone noticed the DYNAMIC MODEL DESIGN LTD manufacturers web site is not active any more!! anyone finding their address let me know i need to bend their ear.

robert (75%)
mmm the definite answer is here....
first do not plug the rx looking lead to you rx it is for a sensor ingnor it!
First identify the connector on the small transmitter and find the - marked end and hold the tx so the - end is at the bottom, now hold the ballance lead from you pack close to the connector and endure the red (odd) lead on the battery ballance connector is at the top the other black leads are the - ones. In a moment you will mate the connectors so that the lowest black lead fits onto the bottom - labelled connector end. For small multicell packs there may be some pins left unconnected at the top. Now before you connect press the small bind button on the small tx unti and keep it pressed whilst you connect the connectors orientation as described. The green light will flash next to the bind button, let the button go, thats the small tx done. Now get the rx panel and hold down the bind button and at the same time hold down the power button to turn it on but as the quanum screen shows let go of the buttons. The bar chart voltage level screen will now show as the units are paired / binded.
   ROBERTO (67%)
That does not work. MUST ATTACK THE CABLE TO RECEIVER BUT YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THE CABLE SIGNAL AND THEN GO.
   robert (75%)
hello you mean the unit is powered from the reciever and - and you have to remove the white signal lead correct?? thanks robert

Would this interfere with my dx6i?
   medixx (87%)
No, it works without any porblems with spektrum.
   John (38%)
No, I use it on Spektrum all the time. Does not create any interference at all. However, i make sure that my antenna stays atleast an antenna length away from my rx antennas. Have never had a problem. The required seperation is only about 1 1/2 to 2", easy seperations.

Some customers might be confused because they need to click the "bind" button to switch to V2 screen and the Tx must be turned on first.

The excellent device and disgusting technical support!
I have ordered and have received the complete set and the additional a current-temperature sensor.
As I have received version V1 - to connect the sensor is impossible!!!. My question on updating have answered - " send all to us on a warehouse - we shall make ". I consider, that it is very bad idea! To return the goods on a warehouse is again to wait 3-4 months!!! Convincingly I ask Hobby King to solve the problem on upgrade firmware and hardware by independently everyone who has received V1.

Please, can anyone tel me how I can get the second display to see the amp, mAh and temperature ?
   medixx (87%)
After connecting the amp sensor to your system you have to bind the transmitter again. Then the new display data comes up.
   Ron Toc (34%)
I did, still the first display ?
   medixx (87%)
What is shown on your screen?
   Ron Toc (34%)
just the volt of the seperate cels
   medixx (87%)
Have you checke wether the plug from the transmitter is connected correctly to the amp sensor (right position and polarity?)
   Ron Toc (34%)
yes, the right position. Does the amp sensor be connected in line of the powersystem ?
   medixx (87%)
The transmitter has to be plugged in with the yellow cable on the outside if the amp sensor is lying on its flat side. On the same side as power out/to your esc
   medixx (87%)
and try pushing the bind button on reciever short and see if you can swap display
   negroyfeo (29%)
yes yuo need to buy the temperature sensor and amp divise
   Andreas (43%)
if you have only the telemetry system you have only the voltage measure, with the amp/temp System you ca. see amp and temp. it costs 20$
   Ron Toc (34%)
pushing the bind butten does not swap my display.
the first display should display Amps, mine only shows total voltage! the startup display is the same as on the picture above.
   medixx (87%)
are you sure you recived a v2.0 reciever? otherwise the problem has to be with binding or probabaly the connection to the amp sensor

V1.2.0.0 is the picture from the old reciever. The new one has V2.0.0.0 on the display.

Hello , I buy the last V 2, but it is impossible to Binding, also there comes no red flashing light! Every time a green led light! The other is I imagination that the Futaba connector must be connected in the Receiver ! Correct ?? What connector must plugged first to binding :the Futaba or the Balancer connector! The system looks good , but the manual of the first installation is very bad!
   medixx (87%)
For binding: connect the balancer plug while keeping the bind button ond transmitter pushed. A green led should be on permanently. Then release the bind buttin: the green led starts blinking fast. Then turn on reciever while bind button on reciever is pushed (you can red binding in the display). Then the green led on the transmitter will turn to a slower flashing when bind is complete
   Wiretap (34%)
The 'red light' is an error in the manual, you need a green light. The 'Futaba' connector is for the current-temp sensor and should not be plugged into your RX. Binding is a fairly simple process, but may take a bit of playing around to get right.
   Ron Toc (34%)

I spent 2 hours could not make it work, after several hours thinking... plug in the balance wire into the tx, hold down the tx bind..plug in power to the aircraft ,, let go of the bind button green light on tx should be blinking..next hold the rx bind button and turn on the rx ..it will be looking for a signal if not a display.. quickley hit the on button..this system works .. at the field i switch the tx from my 600, 500 & 450 no problem love this unit plus other flyers have put a servo extention and they use the unit also...i know its hard to hold the tx bind and plug in your aircraft..but it will work....I use a futaba 7ch..others use JR* spectrum no loss of sig.

Antonio (63%)
Why has the transmitter a Futaba conector?
   medixx (87%)
It is for connetion to the Amp sensor: ***********hobbycity****/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=11251
   Antonio (63%)
Hello, now I binding it, but when I not conect the FUTABA conector in to the Receiver doesn't work it !! Is this Normal !!! Also I don't understand why comes without manual!
   medixx (87%)
The futaba connector from the transmitter has to be plugged into the amp sensor? See that you got the right position. The transmitter has to be plugged in with the yellow cable on the outside if the amp sensor is lying on its flat side. Important: you have to connect the sensor before you start the binding process.
   Antonio (63%)
Hello, thanks for the help, but what Ampere Sensor you talk about, I have yust the the Transmitter and the Receiver that's all! The point is when I not connect the FUTABA conenctor into the Receiver the Transmitter doesn't work !! :-(
   medixx (87%)
The amp sensor is listed in the related products or search for PRODUCT ID: Q001-TX-CT I don't have to connect the plug from the transmitter: Without amp sensor all you have to do is connect the balancer plug of your battery to the transmitter. Did you do this?
   Wiretap (34%)
This is for connecting to the current-temp sensor.
   Antonio (63%)
Hello Thanks for your Help, but the strange is when I not connect the Futaba Conector in the Heli RX doesn't work the Quanum Transmitter also the green Led not works!.

Is there a way to monitor two 3S batteries with this device ? Would the 2x3S->6S charger adapter do the trick ?
   gerryblue (30%)
Yes, you will need to conect both balance plugs to the transmitter.
   Derku (80%)
The final wire of the first battery balance pack connects to the first wire of the second battery balance pack plug in a parallel manner - you will need an adaptor though. Hope that made sense.
   Wiretap (34%)
This would work, yes. so long as you are using the batteries in series.
   Ron Toc (34%)
attension to all, they refuse to answere my question why they sold me version 1 whereas I ordered version V2 on 18/05/2010 !!!!
   technicapot (75%)
yes unless you have the 2x3s balancer tap harness, which combine the two 3s lipo tap into one, which can be purchase separately on the batt charger section.
   MCOPFER (86%)
hk sells a adapter for 2 three cells and makes a 6 cell balancer.. also use for charging as a 6 cell.. be carful on connecting the 2 power wires as the pos and neg must be from the inside cells use a volt meter and you should not get a reading on the balance plug pos neg other batt center pins..i use this on my 500

JGY (56%)
Does the plug to the balancing lead suit Hyperion batteries? Adapter needed?
   Mike (56%)
Yep, works on Hyperion no problem.
   Derku (80%)
Mike, the Hyperion balance plug is different and you will need a JST to Hyperion adaptor! Hyperions have a space between the ground and subsequent cells while JST do not.
   Wiretap (34%)
The plug has no outer shroud, so should suit all packs.

It would get really interesting if there was also an altimeter/variometer sensor for this thing... is there?
   mnunezve (60%)
I doubt variometer, altimeter and speed but it would be interesting but would have to wear a GPS already increased the price and secure.
   Derku (80%)
Neither of those sensors are offered with this package. If you want all those, it may be cheaper to invest in an OSD system with sensor inputs as the display could be fully customised.
   Ron Toc (34%)
attension to all, they refuse to answere my question why they sold me version 1 whereas I ordered version V2 on 18/05/2010 !!!!
   bdoets (84%)
For variometer function, only a pressure sensor would be needed. That's no expensive hardware. It would make this unit the cheapest RC variometer in the world (except for the little gadget that wags the tail if you enter a thermal).

3 questions: 1. Is there any possibility to download all the information provided during the flight/race? 2. What kind of sensors do you have used (temperature,...)? 3.How often does the data showed get updated (in seconds? Thank you so much for your help!!!
   Derku (80%)
1: No - I would like to do this also.
2: In V2 its volts per cell, total battery voltage, temperature, amps and calculated mAh used.
3: Approximately 2-3 times as a ROUGH observation - temperature is slower but more precise.

Picture shows V 1.2.0.0 .
Is this version at the picture (V1.2.0.0) the real "V2" hardware? Could someone that bought this Quanum Version "2" confirm the Rx version please? Thanks!
   mikhailevsky (54%)
Can I updade receiver v1 to v2?
   Derku (80%)
I bought the package when "V2" came out. On the back of the receiver it states V1.1 but on the interface instead of "V1.2.xxxxx" as shown in the product image, it shows "V2.0.xxxx". I can only guess its the same hardware but a software upgrade.
   niaver (59%)
This Version 2 is an update of the software, not the hardware. When you turn on the system, you can read this is the version 2, but the hardware of the item is the same that it has in verison 1. I bought it 10 days ago, and I can confirm, I have the version 2.

Can this be used to monitor the voltage of the receiver pack for a glow plane? I am not asking How. I want to know if the 3.2v alarm is non adjustable or if 4.8v & 6v is to much for the transmitter to handle on one cell input
   SpeedFlap (49%)
Eric,
The system is for LiPo use only. The alarm threshold cannot be adjusted.
   Jason5001 (4%)
Alarm cannot be adjusted, but the input will go to 5v and down to 2v. So you can use it to monitor a wide range of battery types.
   John (38%)
I would say not. If you set it up for 1S, which operates at 3.7 Volts, the 6 volts would be too much, also, the alarm sets would be wrong as well. This device not intended for this function.

Can I read the used AMP to know when my lipo is empty or just the current amp consumption ??
   Runny (41%)
By the look of it I'd say No.
Plus technically it will require an accumulator in the inbuilt software as opposed to just data receive-display
   Jason5001 (4%)
It shows total Amp used during flight (see the second photo) mAh
   Robbie (81%)
and where is the current sensor ??? what is the max amp for the current sensor ?
   Robbie (81%)
ah now I read :
Note: Current/temp sensor sold separately.
so it's not possible Jason, we need the current sensor..
   Jason5001 (4%)
It's possible, and designed for it.
Current sensor is in the list of 'Related Products'
   Derku (80%)
The system calculates the estimated battery drain(mAH) from the pack based on the amps the shunt(amp meter addon) is measuring. The amp flow is just a calibrated reading from the shunt. I purposely unplugged the amp meter at a high current and it retains that value on the screen and continues to calculate based on final measured amp flow. So the mAh, correct me if im wrong, is calculated and not measured directly.

For those like me who buy the V1 and just want the Temperature Sensor i have done it with the first receive V1.
i bought a cheap temperature probe on digikey (3$)
who send back a voltage between 0 and 3 volt for temperature reading and is powered by one cell lipo )
the probe as three pin one for - you link it to - on the left of the telemetry board ,the + to any other pin used by your lipo and the last one on an unused pin ,ENJOY
   E-Tuning (50%)
did you had to upgrade the firmaware of V1 ? how exactly did you do it ? i lso have the V1 and i like the temperature readout but what do i have to do ?
   raskal (71%)
no upgrade to the firmware
the temperature probe i bought was :
IC TEMP SENSOR 3.3V TO92-3 STR
from DIGI-KEY
***********analog****/static/imported-files/Data_Sheets/AD22103.pdf
this sensor as three pin -,+,S
you power the probe with one cell lipo from your flight pack
so just link the ground to the left pin of the telemetry transmitter. the + to the second pin and the signal to an unused pin
Very easy

then you can read the voltage sent by the temperature probe 3.05V => 0, 3.3V =>100
so the voltage you read minus 3.05 multiplied by 400 and you get the temperature in celcius
basicaly just look the decimal minus 5 multiplied by 4
3.20V => 60C, 3.15V => 40C
you get use to it after a while
im flying with 3 cells lipo so there is 3 usable port for three different sensor ESC batterie and motor
there are other sensor if you need to go higher in temperature but when you fly electric they are great, accurate and cheap

I just received this item and I have charged the Rx (approx 4hrs, and it show that USB is connected and charging/charged). I then unplug it and attempt to turn it on and it will not turn on. I have tried to click the pwr button, hold down the pwr button..ect. Am I missing something or do I have a defective Rx unit?
   Dennis (34%)
well i just took the Rx apart to look at it and both the pwr and the bind switches were non-functional. i 2 small momentary switches and replaced them although now it looks kinda hacked up. needs a little better quality control
   John (38%)
My experience is that you need to have the TX on first. Try to go through the binding process. My experience has been that it does not appear to turn on until it sees the transmitter first time. Once you have the TX hooked up in bind mode, turn on the RX and attemp to bind. I had a friend to help, as you need 3 or 4 hands.

I'm still trying every combination (including the box instructions) and it never gets into bind mode on the receiver. Additionally, the antenna mount did not come with mine.

Well... everyone knows it can be a hassle to return items oversees, so I opened the receiver to see if there was anything obvious. The bind botton was barely attached to the circuit board. I added a little solder and it seems to work fine now. I will notify hobbyking about the missing antenna bracket. We'll see what they do...

Just bought one of these with an extra transmitter. I cannot get either one to bind with the receiver. Come on Hobbyking how difficult is it to provide a manual with your products? Cannot get a manual for the Turnigy 52 engine that I purchase here either. I have tried everything in this thread. Any suggestions on how to get it to work?

Just got it to work. Follow the instructions on the box sp**** as they may be.

Hi flyboy69, same problem, I sent my first one back, got another from them, the first one bound OK but had a bad screen, mthis one does not seem to want to bind, like you say GREAT manual! I have no idea what to do either.

Mine give problems if placed too close to each other - put them at 50 cm distance. Also my pairing took a couple of tries but it works fine now.

Assuming that there is no hardware deffect 1- Press the snmall button on the sensor part and connect to the battery. A small green light next to the button should come on ansd start to blink. Release the button 2- press the bind and power button on the display unit together and keep them pressed till a black shade apperars on the LCD screen and then release. The voltage indication bars should appear on your screen.

Hobbyking do not produce this item but Quanum do, see their website, to bind the rx to the tx follow the instructions on the back of the box, why do you need a manual ?

There's no way to change the channel, but it's spread spectrum just like any Spektrum/JR or Futaba FASST radio. If you're using 2.4 ghz for your FPV gear, I wouldn't use this as 2.4ghz video gear doesn't play nice with 2.4 ghz radios, even spread spectrum ones. If your video gear is 5.8 ghzor 900 mhz you should be fine. If your radio is 2.4 ghz, this will work just fine with it... I use my Spektrum DX7 with it with no problems at all.

There shouldn't be any problems, I use it alongside an Assan 2.4 tranmitter module on my JR 9XII

I was nervous about using two of these next to each other, but like mentioned it's a non issue. I was a sceptic at first, but now that I have them I won't fly without. Cheap insurance for a 3k+ camera rig. Thanks HC!

I got the system. I charged the receiver. The box instructions talks about a red light. I see no red light. I assume there is mistake on the instructions and they mean a green light on the transmitter based on Ditman's post (the box is in error?).

After my transmitter sits for an hour connected to the battery (which I verified the voltage coming out of the balance plugs).. It lights up green and blinking. OK So I turn on the receiver and push the bind and it says binding.. I push the little button on the transmitter. The green light goes solid.

The receiver never does anything but state "Binding..". Then the transmitter green light goes dark.

Nothing ever changes now. I can get no light on the transmitter no matter what I do. The receiver comes up and says "binding .." if I push bind button at power on. If I do not push the bind button it just states it is the Quanum Voltage monitor V1.2.0.0

Do I have a bad transmitter? Receiver? Both? I ordered another transmitter thinking that is the most likely culprit. Anyone else having issues ? Help!

you need to hold the button on the transmitter unit and then connect the battery..when the light changes..then you hold the bind button on the reciever screen and hit the power button..and it binds..took me 20 seconds to do...

Will this interfere with a Hobby King 6 channel 2.4Ghz RX?
   stockli (20%)
Not sure about the HK brand, but it works fine with my Spektrum DX7. If the radio is a spread spectrum type radio it should work fine.

There shouldn't be any problems, I use it alongside an Assan 2.4 transmitter module on my JR 9XII with the Assan receiver in my HK250 & 500GT heli's
