Hi!
A little peek at my bike! Here's the rear wheel which I'm not sure how i managed to destroy lol: Luckily i had ordered a replacement before and it arrived yesterday. Assembled it nicely and put on a bike. Spins very nicely, somehow the old one didn't perhaps that was the reason for breaking. Also in the package was Turnigy B36-56-04 2600kv Inrunner motor which was a very nice fit, but it came without groove for pinion grub screw so I had to machine it myself: Motor almost ready to go in (using novak 13T mod1 pinion) just have to resolder the connectors to 3.5mm for 60A esc: Little guy watches after my beer while i'm at the biz ;) : Some other mods as revo rear shock + traxxas servo saver and steering rod: --------------------------- Overall I'm very happy with the B36 motor - lots of torque and the speed is not lacking with 13T pinion. Barely gets warm - a good choice. Had no luck with KD36 which died as soon as I started it. Sent it to RMA yesterday. Had a little fun yesterday till i got a serious high speed rollover-several-times which slightly bent my custom machined hardened steel shaft. Eh, gonna get some more of them the day after tomorrow. Cheers, Kristaps.

besides the problem with the main shaft that easily bends, there is also a big problem with its rear wheel assembly that you should disassemble before running the QRF 400 bike, there's no grease to its gears inside the mechanical gyro and lucks one spacer so that the plastic plate inside wont touch the gears, mine got stuck and found out that the plastic plate touch the gears which had made my read tire unable to turn, so I disassembled and found out one small bearing was damage and fix the problem, another thing don't over tight the nuts so it wont cause the said problem, but over all its good bike for its price compare to other brand, thanks Hobbycity keep up the good stuff

cool Tek, those alloy steering blocks give it a sweet look.
I broke my first drive shaft yesterday.
It was a hard ARX shaft. My fault really as I didn't notice the chain adjusting grub screw had come loose allowing the chain to slacken off and eventually jump the rear sprocket. Something had to give.
Luckily I had the updated QRF replacement shafts on hand and they seem just as hard.
I have also recently replaced my Ez-Run 2400kv motor with a Turnigy 36-50-06 2300kv.
The Ez-run was squealing at the top end when punching the throttle, and just wasn't up to the task. The Turnigy, still running the 5mm Robinson Racing 15T pinion, is rated slower at 2300kv but easily out performs the Ez-Run, while using the identical ESC settings.
I often pop the front wheel now when driving out of the corners.

Brett, did u replace the chain with the ARX chain?
Use double grub screws to prevent the grub screw from loosening. Sometime even with thread lock apply ,the grub screw still come loose. So after you tighten the 1st grub screw onto the shaft, screw in another grub screw on top of the 1st. Doing this will provide a double locking effect. As for the shaft, maybe u would like to try the M6 X100mm allen head bolt. Those bolt are a blast ! Edited by TEK - 04/Sep/2010 at 11:29am |

yes, I have ARX chains on both my bikes. They do not stretch or wear as bad as the stock chain. I had loctite on the grub screw but after many adjustments it tends to lose the friction.
The running gear I have has stood up very well, so I am not intending to change, just need to keep those screws in place.

I have tested my bike today with the yellow soft short spring. You gain more traction as compare to the stock spring. I was runing my bike on dusty concrete. It was like running on tarmac.
In fact , i found that with softer spring you could actually set the rear ride height higher for jumps and still gain traction when turning. |
