I have bought this Pitts from Hk and it appears to be slightly different from yours. It is aHK Pitts special plug and fly/ 4aileron version. I'm sorry to hear that you are having probs with your.
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewitem.asp?idProduct=14881 this is in the US w/h. The HK version is product=10102 this plane flew well after trimming. it came with a DAT 700 mtr.and20 amp esc and has plenty of power. There must be 2 versions at HK. There are 2 screws approx.23 mm overall length X 2 mm diameter with a black knurled knob on the end. Do you have any idea what they are for? As there were no directions with the plane, I can't figure out what they are used for. |

Yep, flew it for barely a second. It was my error that I did not brought my neckstrap and I was not fast enough to throw the Pitts and get back onto the stick in time which resulted in a fatal crash. However, just recently I had finished rebuilding the Pitts and my mate gave me his Pitts. So, I could be giving them some flight soon.
Different plane mate, this thread is for the smaller 'EPO' variant. ;) |

Oh its ok msgt81, all is good.
Well it has been a year!!! So, my mate gave up on getting the 'flight-incapable' EPO pitts and gave it to me in hopes that I might get it repaired, modified and soar. And soar it did! Setup: Motor - Stock ESC - Stock LiPo - Turnigy 30C 1000mah 3S RX - FrSky 4ch CG - From Upper wing leading edge: 60% Prop - Stock 7x5(Failed), MasterAirScrew 7x4(Failed), GWS 8x4(Failed), GWS 8x6 (SUCCESS!) Modifications: 1. "Battery Cage" removed and replaced with velcro-mounting. 2. Landing gear stabliser mod. 3. Extra aileron throws via lever shortening mod. EPA 50%(Casual flight) EPA 100%(Extremely twitchy but suitable for crazy stunt manuvers) 4. Tape-hinges for elevators (Stock EPO-hinges tore) Amp draw is not yet measured but the motor was scorching after only about 2mins flight. Conclusion: It flies on stock! but only with a GWS 8x6 prop which is too much for the stock motor to handle sustained flight. Definitely a need to swap for a more suitable power system to get it into the air properly. However, I'm guessing that the newer batches of the EPO Pitts comes with a more suitable stock motor setup (Please ask HobbyKing for confirmation). Edited by FusionTiger - 01/May/2011 at 7:01am |

I don't know why you wanted to torture yourself when you could have gotten a proven winner in the bigger blue EPO version that flies well out of the box. Seems like a waste of time trying to prove that this thing can fly.

You mean the blue ArtTech EPS Pitts? That was not my goal, I wanted to give EPO a try and I wanted something smaller.
It was not a torture for me and not much time was wasted to deal with it. It's all part of the fun and experience. ![]() "From failing, you learn! From success, hmm... not so much~" ![]() |
