Well with nothing on the build table I decided I needed a challenge.

2 Rules:

1. No plans. (well if you call those scribbles under the ribs plans then you need help like me haha)

2. Only use scrap and parts I had in my shed.

And here she is.. not the best looking gal at the ball but she's my gal none the less! Gota love depron so easy to work with. All up this took about a week of fiddling in the evening when time permitted. It was such a fun and simple plane to build and really reminded my of what makes this such a great hobby.. with a bit of patients and head scratching u can turn scrap in to something fun!

Specs:

Hextronic 24g BL (blue wonder)

TP 12amp 9g ESC

1x9g servo, 2x5g servos

1000mah 3s1p

6mm and 3mm Depron

wingspan 36"

flying weight 360grams

8x4.3 prop

83watts

9000rpm

550gram thrust

Really nice job, how does she fly? Or not maidened yet?
A minimal technical knowledge is required for this hobby; please ensure you know the differences between up and down.

You didnt sheet the underside of the wing? Dont you get a lot of twist with just the top sheeting?  Also a lot of lift, will definately be a slow flyer!

Interested to hear how the maiden goes, some video would be perfect!

Nice build too by the way, very professional looking for a scratch built.
Cheers, Dave.

Never realy bothered sheeting the underside with these little foamies.. Perhaps I might at some point just to see how it effects the flight characterists. I have built a few foam wings over the years using this method and airfoil and they have always performed well. There is a CF spar and CF strip on the leading and trailing edge to keep it ridgid. Should fly nice and slow just the thing for a lazy sunday afternoons flying :)

I'll take a camera down for some footage.. should be entertaining either way...

Well here is the video.. nice easy take off, 2 clicks of right aileron trim and it was away!

At this point I started to chuckle to myself as it hardly needed any trimming.. considering the fact there was more "eye balling" than measuring done while building I had to laugh.

Only thing to be done is add a little down thrust as anything over 1/2 thottle she wanted to climb.

All in all I could'nt be happier nothing beats building your own plane from scrap!

Thanks JJ,

Yep there is a 6mm carbon tube as the spare. and 3mm carbon strip on the leading and trailing edge. also use 1.5mm carbon to on the trailing edge of the ailerons to stiffen them up.

Yeah I think some nice Hobby King stickers would be just the go!! (thats a hint if your reading Jason) LOL
