Can anyone tell me if the Hobbyking SS Heli Series 50-65A ESC will work on a fixed wing airplane. I need a big ESC at a reasonable price but the HK SS 45-50A regular ESC does not have an internal BEC while the helicopter one does. I prefer an internal BEC.

Yes. ESC doesn't care what kind of a model it's in as long as the voltage and current ratings are ok. Personally, I prefer external BEC as you don't lose control (Rx & servos) if the ESC or motor should go bad. External BEC can usually handle more current for larger servos.

I use one on my plane, just 70Amp model, remember that helicopter ESC have "soft start" by default, so you will either have to live with it or disable it.
