Hi guys.
Have you had experience with Paraglider's before?
We're producing them now. But Im worried customers will have too much difficulty launching them. They are difficult and sometimes very frustrating to launch.

So... how practical would a paraglider chute be as a emergency... resistance
for runaway 100MHP balsa wood bugger. Because i am afraid of some of my own planes. AHHHH!!! NOT IN THE FACE ![]() Also i might incorporate it in such a way that WHEN the wing eventually rips off if will pull out the chute with it... I am not really worried about the wing per-say just the fuselage turing into a missile. It's a SIG WONDER

Hi Jason!
Hope I'm not out of line, but sounds like you are maybe having trouble with the parafoil.
I offer you my knowledge on the subject. You mentioned you have a few lying around the office, and that you have had problems launching. I have a few really nice custom built motor carts/gondolas lying around here as well. You no doubt have a great flying background and are an expert pilot I'm sure, but I would be happy to send you one of my carts to test your chutes with. My cheap "knock off" rig flew very poor till the upgrades were made, and now launches Perfectly with no hastles. I had moded this model to show the potential of a $40 ebay kit. I understand that you are trying to offer a kit that people are going to be successful with, but I really think that this is a specialized market. People who cannot build a gondola, or make the simple modification to their current gondola to work with this chute, are probably not going to buy this wing anyway. However, once people like me start posting vids of their custom set ups, and tips, the doors will blow open for many. The "paraglider" format, That is the "no motor" wing, will rely on ones knowledge of lift and soaring experience, as these fly very similar to the full scale ones we fly. I don't know too many people who were able to toss a glider off the bluff and have instant success. However, add the motor and take the wind away and you have a docile fun, easy going plane that my 4 yr old Nephew was able to fly (no Joke). I would be happy to post a build thread or post tips with pics or whatever you like. A few months ago a member brought out a $600 European paramotor and we were of course all impressed. We thought "wouldn't it be great if these were affordable to all newbies wanting to get into the hobby." A pretty much unbreakable model that is slow and docile, yet fast and aerobatic. Well our friend is now using my aluminum gondola I built for $20 and we are all waiting for your chutes to come out so we can afford to fly with him. Let me know if you want me to send you one of mine.
Best

I was going to try and make one out this $8.99 kite, bought four of 'em. Made of nice strong light nylon. My nieghbours missus is a seamstress and will be able to stitch in all extra strings needed. Just need to google some plans on the chutes to see if I can mod it, and on how build a powered gondola for it. ![]() |
