have you got around to getting another video on youtube, Set this one as a reply to the first, and send me another PM with it. Also as I said before, focus more on the tail. and try for some better light, maybe get someone to hold a light on it.
For the record mate, I am doing a build thread on 450 Heli's Currently uploading to youtube. These will be preliminary videos showing all aspects of a heli, and showing all parts and what they do. Trying to be very informative, leave any comments you want on them for more detail etc, and I will update the next ones to be better, maybe even have a script instead of just winging it. I will add you as a friend so you can see them when they have all finished uploading.

You mean people actually fly a heli not using Idle Up 2? Wow, Learn something new every day.
Experience is a hard teacher. First comes the test, then the lesson. |

Day-oda - Have you checked the tail drive pulley?
Your video points towards belt slippage.
The 450 V1 had a plastic belt drive gear which wore out quickly especially if the belt tension was incorrect.
Check if the pulley and drive gear are firmly locked onto the shaft.
Check the tail drive pulley for wear as well, less common though.
If it is the pulley, replace it with an Align one or wait for HK to post the V2
drives as spares.

I have the exact same problem. I'm pretty sure it's not any of the settings (gyro reversing, rudder reversing) because everything behaves as normal, except for the tail spin. Also, this problem happens exactly the same when i don't even have my gyro connected (direct rudder servo control).
I'm guessing the tail rotor doesnt supply enough thrust to counteract the main rotor torque. Giving it full right rudder (and the tail pitch slider fully deflected to the left) slows down the spin, so it almost holds -but not quite-. Full rudder in the other direction makes it spin even faster counter clockwise. It's odd that the threadstarter has the exact same problem (and it even spins about the same speed) as me. Perhaps this is a factory defect in the tail or the tailblades so they cannot provide enough thrust, even when fully deflected??? |

tnx sir tommo, i bent a main shaft, boom and damage 1 hxt900 as cyclic after hitting a chair trying to fly the heli dis afternoon but it still flies ...will took a vid in daytime, hopefully tomorrow & will post it asap...
sir grant, i got 2 sets of 450 with spinning tail. the heli i'm taking vid is my training one which is a mix of ver.1 & 2 and got another ver.2 which has almost identical set-up the only difference is the turnigy 320 gyro w/a ds480 as tail servo (for the ver.2) while the other one has an HK gyro & hextronic mg14...already check the tail drive but to my dismay no sign of wear & tear...the ver.2 has a metal tail drive. thank you for taking time posting & replying. |

day-oda if it is new heli I don't think you have wear on the tail drive pulley. From Grandc's picture it was top wheel I had issue with( if you look at the heli it is on bottom). It was slipping after about 10 flights. .....I'll some pics how I fixed it later
I hope You have followed those instructions step after step to eliminate other possibilities, otherwise if you implement all those ideas at once it might introduce new problems. Also have a look at the radio programming how do you controll GYRO Gain. As far I know on that radio Gain controll can be assigned to any of those 2 knobs by MIX. I'm not familiar with those gyroes HK450 is not bad heli, just try to setup this right before thinking of buying another one.... |

< ="-" ="text/; =utf-8">< name="ProgId" ="Word.">< name="Generator" ="Microsoft Word 12">< name="Originator" ="Microsoft Word 12">
Just example how to assign one of those knobs VRa or VRb for adjusting GYRO Gain
VRa or VRb - GYRO Gain for Heading Hold Gyro - Select "NULL" default You need to set up a mix to get Channel 5 working on NULL ..... GYRO Gain Mix MIX2 VRa CH5 30% .........value might be different for your setup 70% .........value might be different for your setup ON This is if they are Heading Hold Gyros |

well, my first thought...
1) BINDING push rod !, check if it move freely, if you need to force it to move, that vould be your problem. 2) Your Gear/belt pully, SLIPS, try to hold on to the main rotor, and se it you can make the tail rotor turn -you need to use a litte force to make it Slip. i have experienced both problems on my HK450, and there are oberviously faults but overlooked often -since that should not be the problem... Hope that i helps you out... Troels |

tested the kit today indoor, i damaged the main gear might be an adjustment problem and change it to a new one.
tommo: its raining down my end & can't get a good vid of the heli, hopefully tomorrow lee8org: i only reverse the ch4 on the TX & not adjusted the gain since all other channels are working great, the cyclic are well centered so with the tail servo & the tail rudder adjuster is very well centered with equal distance from its end, i also tried re arranging the gyro might be an orientation problem.....BUT still it spins blindvision: i change the tail assembly w/ a new kit since i got a binding push rod, might be because i hit a chair yesterday, i also check for slippage but none and just decided to change it to a metal one from one of my ver.2 kit just incase... i might rest my case for now and wait for dothan to fly his heli and start from then...will also be looking forward for tommo's vid to be finished |

day-oda I am not sure what sort of GYROs You've got BUT CH5 on your
radio will let you to adjust percentage of gain for gyro to compensate
the spin you are experiencing and switch between rate mode or heading
Hold mode without being connected to PC.

sorry to butt in but if I can add my 2cents.... please check if the gyro is mounted correctly, for example telebee or mks gyro cannot be mounted flat on top but on the side to have the "working axis" in propper direction. you dont have to spool the heli up to check if the gyro is working right. if in AVCS mode just move the tail to the side and the rudder should counteract and blades stay deflected until you move the tail back to its original direction. in rate mode it should counteract your movement and return to neutral. but in both cases there should be an action if you move your tail to the side. if not smth wrong with the gyro or its setting. I suggest disconnect the gain setting plug from RX and set the gain manually on the gyro in the begining to exclude the TX programming probs and I would start around 70% gain. my other bet is slipping pulley but you can hear that your tail blades are loosing RPM. unmount main blades, hold the tail, spool up (carefull not to get hit by the paddles) and give full rudder, from the noise you will hear if the RPM of the tail blades decrease or not. I hope you can solve your problems soon. |
