Hey all,

Yeah currently im using LEDs with an on/off switch.

The drawback with LEDs is that you get light intensive spots directly at the LED(as expected) which is why I show particular interest in ex-trainer's mod; looks much more elegant?

In fact you could probably take it a step further and combine rcmodelreviews idea to activate the backlit LCD but im just postulating and wouldnt know how to do it.

Thanks, ill keep watching this post.

Kind Regards,
Derku

Thatīs what i intended. If rcmodelrewies is ready, it should be possible to combine both versions. Clap
Yeha, looking forward for that.
The T9 is my playground at the moment.
First step was the 2 Li-Ion-modding.
Second step was the Displaylight.

And now the third stepLOL

Shows how many cells are used:

Single cell voltage number 1:

Single cell voltage number 2:

Total voltage:

I placed a microswitch here to turn on and off the monitor:

Now i know the real voltage and can see when the Li-Ions are empty.
Installing and wiring took about 20min.

Ex-trainer -- that integrated battery monitor is pretty slick.

I'm guessing you used the HK 2-6S battery monitor, here, extended the leads to the balance tap on your Tx's 2S pack, and mounted the digital screen on the front of your radio.  I must say that is an inexpensive, elegant mod for this radio.  I hope you shared it here to inspire me to do the same, because you have!

Dave

Hi Dave,
i tryed the HC Monitor first, but it was to tall for my opinion. Might even work, but you have to cut several points in the Transmitter inside when you want to use this one on the same place where i do. It would be no problem to install it on the backplate of the transmitter. I found a smaller Monitor on ebay and installed that one instead.

radioclone
As far as I understood from a cursory glance, that project provides alternative software that can also display your battery voltage. I don't know if there are any free a/d ports left on the controller, but if there are, it would not be very hard to integrate a battery monitor in the display instead of a hacked add-on.
The 16*2 LCD displays I have all have the led backlight on one side, but no dark spots. Maybe it is just a case of grinding of the 'lens' part of the led? that should give a pretty diffuse lighting?

Hi!

I have just did backlight mod as described by "ex-trainer". But there is sth. strange: switching light on causes radio reset! is it normal?  (I took +5VCC and GND from the mainboard)

and the second issue: is it ok that inverter generates some sound when activated?

Hi yulo99,
sorry, i havenīt been here for a time. Otherwise i would have allready replyed your questions. Seems to me that you have made something wrong by wiring the light. The inverter might make some noise, that is allright, donīt worry about that.
Can you make a picture where you took pos and neg? I think there must be the Problem.

Greets, Michael
