Can someone tell me how many rpm,s that a 5 inch 7 blade ducted fan will handle if well ballanced. I am purchassing 2 from Hobby King for my home built carbon fiber 4 Ft x 6.4 Ft F117 Nighthawk with added Kanards. I need to know for pully sizing for a 40 cc 2 stroke engine I will be mounting in it for power. This engine is rated at 6500 rpm,s. Thanks all.

Hi,finetune. You will need to have a ratio of 5to1 or 6 to 1 to bring rpm up to around 30000 rpm .I would suggest you use toothed belt as there is no slip with them .The 5 inch fan will stand this rpm as i have run one to this speed. the fan needs to be balanced and outside dia. of fan trued up so all blades run true.Best of luck with your project and let us know how you make out.Regards Ken Jack

Hi,I do not know what max rpm for HK 5 inch will handle ,and i would suggest you aim for about 25000 to 30000 rpm as i have run a modified fan with less blade area at 26000 which was dynamicly balanced with no problems,Regards Ken Jack.
