I purchased one from another supplier last year and found over a millimetre runout on it at the prop adaptor.
I tried to get replacemet and it didnt happen, in the end I machined my own one up on my lathe. Even with it being done and everything being true and parallel when fitted it still had a 0.2mm runout, the problem with this last amount being the crankshaft thread.

It is not HK fault that the manufacturers have problems with batches of parts, however they should repair or replace when problems appear.
I agree with Bruce , be prepared for failure of some items and be happily surprised if it doesnt happen.
NEVER under any circumstances take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.

I bought one of these engines in April and when received, the prop hub that receives the prop shaft had been drilled and tapped crooked. So much for their claim that each engine is run. This one would have vibrated like crazy. Sent them photos and they said that they would send me a replacement hub.

That was 3 months ago. Now they have suggested the following "solutions"

-they have ordered the replacement hub

-give me a credit of $10 for the hub. What do I do with my $200 paperweight

-send the engine back for a replacement. Not spending another dime for HK's lack of quality control. It would cost me at least $40 with insurance.

-awaiting my replacement hub. I wonder if they will ever make me happy

So much for their lofty claims of good customer service for a platinum member.

We have 3 of these engine flying at our field.  All 3 of them work great!   Not quite the power of a DL 50, but still a great engine.  (At least the ones we have).  I have been flying mine for over a year without any problems.  The best Budget 50cc gasser I am aware of.
Hopefully the replacement one works for you.

Moral of the story: HK is *great* for small, light, cheap products.

Heavy, expensive products.... well you're buying a ticket in a lottery.

Only buy stuff you can afford to throw in the trash if they arrive broken or break soon after you start using them.

I would not buy a gas engine from HK -- it's worth the extra money to buy locally and enjoy the "peace of mind" that comes from knowing you can get a prompt refund/repair at no cost to yourself if/when necessary.

I returned it on a RMA. They received it about 5 weeks ago. After having it for 3 weeks they said they have to send it to the supplier for repair. It should not take this long to replace a defective item. Emails are answered that they have to wait for the supplier to return it. It also cost me an additional $41 to return it and I am thinking I may never see a replacement. I asked if I could speak to a manager to resolve the problem and was told they to not speak to customers.

jerryj39...that is the same engine x 2 that I have. I experienced something similar as you
My first engine ran good and I had a number of flights on it when the next time I turned the prop over it was making a grinding sound. Said oh oh, went home took the prop hub off where it was rubbing the engine block and noticed a bump in the prop hub where the magnet was pressed in and it was causing a high spot, so I filed it down flat and then it didn't rub any more. I thought I was going to have to tear down the whole engine and replace bearings etc. The motor must have broke in and the bearings setteled just enough to allow the bump on the hub to rub but it has been running fine ever since. Could you have the same problem? If so, it' a easy fix

I have 2 of the FTL (Turnigy side carb) 52cc engines and they both run pretty good but when I bought the Turnigy 26 rear carb for 199.00 I had ignition problems...sent the first one back (9 dollars shipping) and received a new one eventually but it does the same thing. It just keeps firing the plug non stop until I turn it off...tried a 5.4v regulator and a 6v reg. and they both do the same thing except the 6v fires faster than the 5.4 volt. I said hell with it and ordered a new ignition from CH out in Wyoming. Sure can be frustrating when things don't go as planned
