This is the plane: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=5190&Product_Name=CAP_232_60_size_ARF_63inch
Has anyone here used this with an electric setup? How hard is the battery access on this plane? Does it require any modifications for simple battery use or motor mount? Maybe some one can point to an electric build, I can't seem to find any on the net. |

There was a build log done a while ago by mactabak, but I think it was prior to the last forum crash so it would have all been lost. I would try a PM and see if you can get any info. From memory it was set up on 6S.
There is a little info on the discussion page, but nothing conclusive...

Hi Dave, ...and everybody,
I know you are an expert in improvising and surely you have some solution... - the same way as with other models here - there is not very helpful manual attached to CAP 232 63" kit. About installing servos (all) it "very precisely" says: "Install the servo." - nothing mentioned where, where to cut the wings to make compartments to fit a servo. Nothing mentioned about a size of servo and params...
I am trying to surf web to find at least some pictures of already assembled planes, but not much success. I do not want to make some difficult mistake. Any suggestion? Thanks

As for the aileron servos there should be a plate on the lower side of the wing that is currently hidden by the covering. You should be able to run your hand over the wing and find it, then simply cut out the covering to drop the servo in.

Thank you, Dave,
The plate (under film) found, but seems to be quite soft. Some reinforcement would be needed.
I thought - by by chance it might be possible to do it similar way as for instance on PITTS 40" where aileron servos are completely hidden inside the wing. Anyway, ok. Any recommendation regarding torque/weight/size of aileron servo for CAP232? Of course, preferably reasonable priced offered by HK. Thanks, Pavel

First question, what size is the hole for the servo to rop in to? That would be a good starting point for a servo search. Then given the dimensions I would be looking for a good strong servo. I just went to check the reviews under the plane to see what others had been using, but the plane is no longer on the site!

That´s true, CAP232 disappeared very recently. Really not much space in there (wing) for servo:
say 38 x 25 mm and 25 mm depth. Servo of what torque do you estimate for such an aileron
(650 x 70 mm)? Speed is probably not that crucial - standard servo speed would do probably.

True the last one in stock was snaffled by me
, after I ordered one earlier ( I have 2 )I had to make some modifications so the it would fit into my Hyundai Excell 3 door, the 63" wingspan was a tad to big, I wound up making and fitting a wing spar box so that i have a two piece wing ( there are some pics on rcgroups search for CAP232) The 5065-320/350 from HK are adaquate on a 16x12 TGY prop but a 18x12 is better. Running 2x 3s1p4000 Turnigy in a 6s1p setup, though i have to remove the wing to get to the battery's. I have a couple of 5055 580 SK series coming and am hoping that the 16x8 3 blade will give the performance i want, hope the trunigy SS60-70 amp ECS will cope with the added amp draw. The aircraft is a surpurbe flyer with the CoG at 115mm from the leading edge, as far as the servos go the HXT5010 STD servos work and fit all openings without modification ( yah a little plate under screw points is advised ) With my modifications the weight went a bit high to 3.8 Kg, this accounts for the sluggish performance on the 16x12 in the vertical, with the 18x12 it WILL rise in the vertical but not sprint, the new motor's should improve that aspect. The motor mount supplied is for the IC version so i got the Alloy one from KH and that worked brilliantly ( the 5065 is mounted at the extreme back setting possible, so the 5055 will need to be moved forwards, hope this keeps the CoG in the right place ) All up the biggest problem is the battery placement, the rest is gold Cheers TBBW |

Is there a way to setup flapperons or a channel 2 plus Channel 6 mix with the HK-6X 2.4 GHz? If so, can anyone explain the steps to do that setup?
