I was distracted and accidently reversed the input polarity for my reciever. That burnt something out. Does any one have a schematic so I can find out what i need to replace it with.

With the price of 9x (and the 6 and 3 channel compatible ones) being what it is, personally I think it would be cheaper to just buy a replacement than to order spares

I already ordered a new one.
I still want to fix this one. the value of what I will learn is worth more than $10 to me. If no one has the diagram, I will open the new one up and see if the part has a label on it. |

Honestly - I worked my whole adult life in the electronics service industry and for things like that (a) you'll never get a circuit diagram and (b) the cost of replacement parts would be more than a new receiver.
Also add in that the board will be double sided and there will be surface mount devices (and quite likely you will need the proper anti-static equipment) |

I have found diagrams for the transmitter so I was hoping the receiver ones would be out there too.
If the whole board was burnt out I would say it is a lost cause. But only one small component is burnt out. If that one component is cheap. Then I will fix it. Maybe more is wrong with it. But if I spend 10 on parts fixing it and I have fun trying. Then I haven't really lost anything. |

Most small receivers use dedicated ICs to handle the signal processing - if you reversed polarity that WILL be burnt out - and a replacement WILL cost far more than a new receiver
Trust me on that - it's what we usually marked on a repair docket as BER (Beyond Economic Repair) |

There are quite a few who have replaced the standard module in their 9x with FRSKY or similar and their Turnigy Rx would be surplus to their requirements. Maybe someone local can help you out

He's not talking about replacing the receiver - it's about repairing the receiver

Been in electronics for 30+ years, repaired PC mother boards for 9 years before getting into engineering, yes repairing a $9 Rx can be not worth the time and money, but for some (me included) I would give it a shot. If anything, you could gain some knowledge. If it's an IC blown forget it, BUT, the IC's are after the voltage regulator and possibly they never got zapped. more that likely the first thing to smoke with reverse polarity is the stupid Tantalum capacitors. The large one is 22uF and the smaller one is 47uF. Personally I would use ceramic caps.
Yea, you could just order a new one and wait 3+ weeks, and in the meanwhile tinker with the broken one. For starters, remove the burn cap (tantalum's go into a short most of the time when reverse polarity, then draw a lot of current, heat up and let the magic smoke out) and fire it up, got nothen to loose. Good luck. Oz |
