When you're doing a hand launch, don't toss it, just gradually get the motor up to speed and wait for the parafoil cells to fill up and start rising overhead, once the parafoil has risen 90 degrees and you fell it starting to pull away from you, with a gentle flick of the wrist forward, release it and rev up the motor.

When calling it a foil, I mean as in aerofoil. This is for the Belatrike, which uses the sail mentioned above. Not talking about the rtf paraglider with the tin foil 'foil, which I do also have lol
Would not try the 2.15m one on that paraglider though, would never cvome down lol

Forget about the foil sail and get the rip-stop nylon one instead. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__14284__HobbyKing_Paraglider_Parafoil_2_15m.html. Much more conforming and not rigid, like that foil one that comes with the trike.

My lines are about 200mm apart, When on the ground moving forward directly into the wind, the foil stays up just behind the trike, with the foil practically horizontal. If it veers to one side or the other, try adjusting AOA, I'm afraid I can't say which way to adjust what as mine was purely trial and error, mostly arror.

When you say kite you mean it goes up and as the trike moves forward, the parafoil stays up right? I realized for mine the parafoil can get up to a vertical position initially but it have difficulty staying up. Perhaps it is due to an almost windless situation on my test day? I realized the foil turns to one side very easily so I went back and also changed the main lines separation to 200mm. Have not tested yet. I guess I would try it again soon and adjusting the AOA at the field...

Had a similar issue, try adding extra weight to stop it from taking off, then taxiing it and make sure foil kites properly. adjust AOA if not, and hey presto... remove weight and off you fly

Thanks guys. But I have already read through the whole thread and followed the instructions. Just would like to check whether anyone faced the same problem like mine before, the launching technique and a good CG for beginners?
