Whate Paint for EPO models

Hi can any one help with the right paint to use on Epo foam models so you dont melt the foam

You can use water-based acrylic paint and like fusiom said, clean the EPO before painting.

I use some kind of solvent (alcohol) to clean of EPO before i paint it with acrylic wall paint (thinned).

DO A DAP TEST (cotton swab, for cleaning ears), with a small amount of the solvent dap it on the inside part of the fuselage or so to test if it dissolves the foam.

On Multiplex's EPO i have used quite aggressive solvents like Paint thinner with luck. Acetone and the likes works fine to.

As a newbe back after a 30 year subattical from doing any serious model building,I have found after many trials of different spray paints,and melting the foam the best thing I can use to paint my foam models is an air brush with acrillic waterbased craft paint thinned with water at about a 3 to 1 ratio.3 parts water to 1 part paint.You may need the paint to be a little thicker depending on your set up. I dont have lots of money but a cheap 1 stage $14 air brush and a cheap $69 compressor work fine for me.Well worth the investment if you plan on building lots of models.I clean my air brush with 50% alcohole periodically as needed while im painting.I only mix water with my paint,in spite of what everybody else does.This gives me the best results. I am scratch building all of my models from cheap insulation foam sold at home Depot now, and having lots of fun.I can paint,or touch up any model,anytime I want,with no worry of melting.Or, if I crash, I can make a new piece,paint it and be flying again.Best of luck to you,Have Fun
