has anyone else recently ordered and selected ems shipping (to uk)?

my most recent ems order uses a different tracking code (ends in SG instead of HK) and the tracking site is different - instead of an instant update upon parcel collection there is no update for at least the first day

the new site/code
http://www.speedpost.com.sg/TrackAndTrace.asp
EQ301720744SG

the old site/code
http://app3.hongkongpost.com/CGI/mt/enquiry.jsp
EA139715831HK

Posting Date      Posting Time      Drop-off Point
7-Jul-2012      14:55      Pick Up Service (Kowloon and New Territories)

that comes from the old site - the pick up time is a few hours after the order states it was sent out

does HK routinely switch between 2 couriers for EMS or what? its a shame the new tracking site is far less up-to-date =/

so chatting to support and they say that basically;

HK post will not take lipos (only singpost / speedpost sg)

dont buy lipos if you want express delivery basically.. (at least in the uk from hk warehouse)

singpost are incredibly slow - 5 days and my parcel has yet to leave HK whereas with HKpost it took 24-36hours gah =/

The tracking for singpost/swisspost can be quite behind on updates sometimes, dont get too discouraged, it will come eventually

ah yea i already figured it was slow to update but its also slow in the process itself e.g:

Date and Time      Location

31/07/2012 01:38 Handover to Airline

28/07/2012 14:59 Processing at Air Transit Center

27/07/2012 08:52 Processing at Sorting Centre

26/07/2012 21:45 Acknowledged at Transit Centre

26/07/2012 20:19 Shipments in transit from Origin

took 6 days to get from the warehouse to the airport? thats pretty dire considering hkpost got my last order to me in 72hours (ordered on a friday - received monday)

Wow, I wish I got an order in 72hrs, fastest one I ever got (30 some orders now) was probably about 2 weeks, although Canadian customs usually plays a role in delays...

Keep in mind that the UK import depot in Coventry is running behind due to the Olympics (not that they were ever fast to begin with)

Regarding EMS - if you get incur import duty/VAT the Royal Snail will hit you with a £15 'handling charge' plus the VAT, but it's only £9 for standard delivery
I don't care what it says on the profile - I'm so NOT GB!

For those EMS tracking ending with "SG" please use http://www.quantiumsolutions.com/ to track your packages. HK is using this company which is owned by Singpost for transhipment of your packages.
