'Thunder Tiger Germany' are so upset with one of their pilots wanting to switch to nano-tech that they have engaged their lawyers to threaten us into removing the below video.
A lot of Pilots at 3D Masters wanted to switch to nano-tech A-SPEC, however they were not able due to sponsorship obligations. Many pilots are using the A-Spec's in practice and at home because they know they're superior batteries.

See both the video and Thunder Tiger's attempt to scare us below.
I hope you can share this with the rest of the R/C community to show what dogs ThunderTiger and other EU distributors are.

Well, they are simply 'reacting'. Can't really blame them for doing what they can do and probably that's the only thing they know for defending their business.

Those Germans don't mess around. I guess they need to sue you to help pay for the bail-out of their poor (PIGS) EU cousins.

I imagine they are having a pretty serious talk with their pilot too. It wouldn't surprise me if he loses his sponsorship.

I am sure you have your own high priced advice; and (my) free advice is worth every penny, so I won't bore you and everyone else with it.

Obviously you have the best product on the market and the professionals know that and want your product. Congratulations and I hope this settles quickly and inexpensively.
Whats that burning flesh smell? Am I on fire again?

They have no case, their claim is going nowhere. I'm posting it here so you can see what kind of business they really are.

It's no wonder, Thundertiger is well known taiwanese company and if you show a 3D artist under contract of Thundertiger using nanotechs instead of their own stuff they are not amused. I'm sure that pilot get some trouble with the Managing Directors of thundertiger/europe Mr Lai Hsieh and Mr.Tsai-Yun. They are defending their business.

Good on Daniel Rau for telling it how it is. He found the Nano A-spec to be a better battery and had the gumption to say so - many wouldn't have in his position.

I bet TT wouldn't have made a fuss if the Nano's helped him win, and he kept it to himself lol.

Spot on

Any one attending a HobbyKing Sponsored event can reasonably expect to be in a HobbyKing video of the event.

for this and several other reasons the letter is a bluff

:}

Well done Anthony and HK staff for successfully getting up TH's nose in a comercialy and ethicaly acceptable way.

All through the video interview with Daniel Rau I didn't once see any sign of his arm being twisted up his back forcing him to say what he did....or maybe that was deleted? Nah, I think not. It's about time those in the hobby business realise there is serious competition around, and lift their game accordingly. You have to at least equal, in ALL respects, the opposition, or more importantly, be superior to them in order to survive and prosper. There are many no longer around in every type and class of product or service, all because they became complacent and didn't adapt to market changes, or innovate to hold market leadership. As has been said before, yesterday is history, you will be judged on what you have ready for tomorrow.

if he gets dropped by them for this then it would be nice for hk to step in and take over

and of course not take this course of action when one of the HK sponsored pilots praises a competitor over them (you would hope that HK would simply release v2 of whatever item and regain competitive status the right way in a situation like that)

Wow!

I never normally comment on these things, but that is pretty bad show of Thunder Tigers.

I'm not a lawyer, however surely the act of the pilot talking to camera and HobbyKing branded microphone was enough to give permission for the video to be published? Its not as if it wasn't clear to the pilot that talking to a video camera and microphone it wouldn't be published - if he didn't want what he said published then he could have done the simple thing of refusing an interview.

Now if the pilot needed Thunder Tigers permission/authorisation to talk to the press, etc, then that's a different case entirely. Its then its surely up to the pilot to tell the camera crew that he isn't authorised to speak directly. If he does speak, and he needed permission from Thunder Tiger to do so, then he's the one that is responsible (not HK) and (if its stated in his contract) he would be breaking his terms with Thunder Tiger.

Now like I said I'm not a lawyer, however in previous employments I've had, my employment contract specifically stated that I was not allowed to directly talk to the press, unless directed by the company. You see this very often when the press hound employee's walking into offices/factories on TV, they will refuse to speak to the camera - not out of rudeness, but so they don't get kicked by upper-management.

Also the other dubious part of that letter, is it doesn't state which laws that the video actually breaks! Every cease-and-desist letter I've ever seen, states clearly which laws are being broken.

Now the problem is, to respond to that letter will require a German lawyers help - which unfortunately costs money, even to write a letter in response. Lawyers are never cheap.

Saying that, considering how much hassle HobbyKing has had from German companies and the amount of time/money they've probably spent with the Lawyers, I guess HK can get a good rate.

Si.
