I have broken 2 five inch fans running lightly on 12 cell.
The plastic motor mount keeps breaking within the fan!
What on earth am I doing wrong!??
I'd love some feedback.
Thanks guys.

The blade was balanced. I thought maybe I'm doing up the motor screws too tight! Im afraid of them coming loose!

well thats where your going wrong they dont need to be done up extremely tight i done the same thing the first time i installed a new motor in mine they only need to be tight enough to hold the engine in place without any play otherwise you are just over tightening them and putting extra stress on the motor mount and even fracturing it if you think the screws will come loost just use some thread lock on them and they will be fine trust me.

+1 for thread lock
The MAAA can end aero-modelling apartheid Today! They think you're stupid and won't notice MOP057

Thread locker will weaken some plastics. Try to avoid the plastic.

The mount is probably breaking due vibration from imbalance. You will feel the vibration even at low power. You need to balance the fan best you can, then dynamic balance the fan and motor together. RC Groups and RC Canada have threads discussing how to dynamically balance an EDF. The "clock" method of repositioning the fan to the smoothest running position works wonders.
