I want to replace the rotor 5 blade with a 12 blade rotor for my HK Black Bae Hawk. When I try loosening the nut with a wrench, while holding the rotor, the shaft and adapter rotate- even tightening the 2 grub screws does not help. So,therefore how do I get the rotor off so I can exchange and balancec it?
Thanks!

If you don't want to keep the old fan, why not use a needle file to cut through the hub?
I don't care what it says on the profile - I'm so NOT GB!

You can drill a hole in the shroud that lines up with the adapter set screws. Then use an allen key to pull the whole assembly off. The other option is to dremel a slot into the adapter end and use a flat blade screwdriver to hold the shaft while you loosen the nut.

The problem I see is that the kv rating will be too high for a 12 blade fan unless you drop the cell count of your battery.

I GOT THE ROTOR OFF USINIG THE BUTTERFLY SOCKET WRENCH WITH AIR COMPRESSOR, THEN HAD TO DRILL GRUB SCREWS OUT TO GET THE ADAPTER OFF . I PLAN TO USE 8 CELL LIPO WITH MEDIUM SPEED- THANKS!
THE BOLT HOLDING THE ROTOR ON WAS RED LOCKTITED AS WELL AS GRUB SCREWS, MAKING IT PERMANENT. I GUESS A TORCH WOULD HAVE DONE THE TRICK.

The locktite makes sense as lander dynamically balances their fans and any movement will throw the balance out.
Let us know how the motor handles the increased load. I suspect a lower cell count will work.
Cheers
