I just received an EPP Pitts plane. The motor is listed as a 2212-1400. The previous EPP Pitts I received showed the motor as a 2212-1400. The problem is,,,,the motors are not the same. the motor on the last EPP Pitts is shorter by approximately 1/8 (3mm)and 11 grams lighter. I find it hard to believe that the specifications remain the same, such as max amps allowed.
Does anyone know anything about the new and smaller motor? |

It's possible that the motor has been modified for some reason - so long as the electrical specificatiions are the same, it should work exactly the same way with the same power and RPM

I don't know what the specs are for the new motor. Even tho they appear to be the same,,I think that is because the info in the build guide didn't get changed when the motor size was changed. By the way, it's good to hear from someone who lives in the birthplace of my Mother. |

Well the 1400 will refer to the KV rating and I believe 22 is the diamater of the stator and 12 is the length of the stator (but I'm open to correction on that) - The change seems to be in the housing as everything else is the same so electrically it should be the same. It could be sourced from a different supplier, hence the differences in the physical size

Either way, I've got this plane and the motor powers it wonderfully! Every time someone new sees it fly, in spite of my poor 3d skills, they vow to buy one as soon as they get home (and they do!).
