Gyro Gain Pots

So as a new flyer, how do we really adjust these Gyro Gain Pots?

I want to be sure they are perfectly adjusted as best as possible to help my learning be a success.

After reading the "setting up the Quadcopter controller" about 12 times, I am still flying with all the pot values at 50%.

With my lack of experience I could not tell a difference as I adjusted things. I couldn't make the thing oscillate...probably doesn't help that I don't even know what it looks like when it oscillates, much less how to make it oscillate or not.

So, any detailed discussion would be helpful.
