I beg to differ with you on that. I've had my batteries tested out at the field on numerous occasions and found that all cells balance out quite nicely using this adapter plug. Try it sometimes if you're doubtful.

If your balance lead went bad, how can you possibly know the pack is in balance? If one or both of the outer wires on the balance plug lost connection you still can use the remaining wires of the balance plug, in combination with the discharge wires, to measure cell voltages, but I assume that is not how the pack was connected to the charger. If there was a magic adapter that made it possible to balance charge through discharge wires, no pack would need a balance plug. Fred

I agree Flarssen, there is no way at all of knowing each cells voltage using the 2 wire discharge lead. Sure the total pack voltage may be 12.4 volts but that could be made up of 2 Cells at 3.8V and 1 cell at 4.8v.

Max the way balance plugs actually work is Wire 1 to negative = voltage of cell 1, wire 2 to negative = Cell 1 Voltage + Cell 2 Voltage, wire 3 to negative = Voltage of cell 1 + Voltage of Cell 2 + voltage of cell 3. The charger then does some simple maths to work out the voltage of each cell, it just not possible to work out individual cell voltage from 2 wires.

It's not a good idea, it's bad practice, it has the potential to cause serious harm also

I'm not sure I want to get into this hobby now. It sounds like just charging the batteries is too dangerous. Let alone the total distruction of my plane when it crashes. My budget is limited. it would take so long to come up with the money to replace anything that broke, that when I finally fly again, I'd be flying like a nooby again.
