Hello everyone, I'm new to this and therefore will be asking a lot of silly questions so bare with me. I know that the ESC has 3 wires that go to the motor and 2 that go to the battery, and another wire that connects to the receiver, but which channel should it go into? I got the Turnigy 9x.

Also when I tried binding the receiver with the transmitter I could not connect the battery to the leads on the receiver since it did not fit. I looked up some online videos and figured out that the battery connects to the ESC and the wire from the ESC connects to the receiver's (battery channel ) which worked just fine. The light started flashing and I bound it to the transmitter, but then when I connected it again the light didn't come on. Do I have to connect the motor to it in order for the light to appear? I hope I didn't break it.

My last question is about the transmitter. I have no clue how to operate this thing and I have found nothing to explain it and the manual didn't help, so can someone please explain what I have to do to get it to work? I already changed the mode from heli to plane but that's about it. What do I need to do to get it to actually operate the servos, motor etc. I realise that I'm asking some really stupid questions but I'm really new to this so any help will be greatly appreciated. ESC connects to Rx on chnl 3.

The ESC will supply power to Rx without motor attached - I always disconnect the motor wires while setting up my helis.

It would be a good idea to get a UBEC (no motor - just Rx power) to keep on your workbench to provide power for testing Rx and Servo operation.

Sounds like you need to switch from PCM to PPM. It is in the TX9 setup menu and can come in wrong mode straight out of the box - or it is easy to switch it accidently when going through the menus for the first time.

Alright Sooty thanks for the reply. First of all is there a way to spoil the receiver if I connect the ESC to the wrong channel? say to the battery channel after binding it or if I flip the signal and negative wires around. Also I had a servo connected to the receiver and the moment I connect the ESC to the receiver the servo moved for a split second, so is that normal? Finally my transmitter is set to PPM but I don't know if it has contact with the receiver.

The answer should be no as the centre wire of the servo plug is + so you can only reverse connect the signal and ground, that being said its always possible to get something that is not wired correctly.

Alright so now I know that the receiver works. Alright so how do I know that the transmitter is in sync with the receiver?

The ESC can be connected to any channel on the receiver BUT the standard is for it to plug into chnl3 to match the modes on the transmitters. If you change mode in the menu on the TX the chnl3 signal will move to the other stick which then becomes throttle.

Servos will move briefly when power is connected to the Rx. If the TX is on and Rx working normally the servos will move to their centered or preset positions and stay there.

Sounds like you now need to bind your Rx to the Tx so that if can receive the signal and respond.

Yes - binding is non destructive - you can re-bind as often as you like. It won't achieve anything different as once a TX / RX combo is bound it will keep working unless "un-bound" by an electrical glitch or an act of God or something when it will no longer work.

You can bind as many receivers as you can afford to your particular TX so that you can have a ready-bound receiver in every model.

The only thing you will find near impossible to do is fly all the models at the same time using the one transmitter.

# 1 is for the motor and #2 is for the battery.
