Hard to come by pictures and videos of this particular FPV Goggle.

Fat Shark Predator RTF FPV Headset System w/Camera and 5.8G TX

So I got myself a set and heres some pictures of the Predator which I initially wanted to see before buying them!

Sun was almost down and I took these images in a hurry with a LED desklamp over it. These images will also give you an idea of how the CCD-Killer camera performs in sunset hours or a very cloudy day.

Room temperature was 30c.

For a wearer, the screen's view is completely squared like a computer LCD screen and the experience with the 25degrees FOV is just like viewing on your computer's LCD at average seating distance away.

I'll take better pictures another day with more lumination.

Heres a great guide to help FPV-Freshies to learn all the basics you will need to know before entering into the world of FPV!

The tx in the goggles
Can it be removed or is it soldered in ? i had problems with my original fatsharks with a faulty tx .if the tx is removable "like the modular dominators" it would be good as its cheaper to replace the tx than post them back to hk or fatshark for repair.... did you have to remove the lenses from the goggles as mine had particles inside that were clearly visable?

wayneuk, they are techincally modular, you will have to open up the casing as shown to replace the reciever. In regards of the lens, I do not quite understand what you mean. My lens are dust-free right now, so I had not explored any options to remove any lens for cleaning.

dodgemcopter, thanks! What you are seeing in those images are not exactly what you will be looking at. Unforunately, due to the fixed IPD setting, individuals might get different viewing results. Lucky for me, my eyes and face falls just within the maximum width allowence for the Predator.

If your eyes were to be either beyond the minimum and maximum range of the Predator's IPD requirement, it will show that dark shade as shown on the plain(A/V Mode) shot. You might also loose sight of left or right side of the "Blue Hue frame". Instead of a blue hue, either top, bottom, left or right will be a grey-blur, showing that your eyes are out of the IPD's range.

Limited by my Camera's design, I was unable to position it to get that perfect flat screen if viewed from your own eyes! The best example that I can discribe - The viewing experience will be just like watching on your Computer's LCD screen almost literally!

I would really much prefer a HDMI input as none of my equipment uses the standard A/V RCA plugs. I am now searching for a HDMI-to-RCA convertor.

Just got back from some FPV fun with the gear mounted on my 1/8 Buggy. Simply Awesome!

It was a perfect bench test for extreme scenario. It is a mini-park/jogging circuit(Appox 200m radius) surrounded by 12 stories high apartment buildings on all 4 sides. With 2.4GHz WiFi routers by the hundreds, concrete and metal structures all around the park - it was an interference and Multipathing nightmare!

However the Predator did an excellent job! There were very few moments of static and only got smacked into a chaos of multipathing when I travelled behind a playground which was sandwiched between the building and tall hedges.

Next - Going Airbourne!

I'll definitely be getting the Circular Polarising antennas and 600mw Transmitter after these tests.

I had some odd shape in my Predator's display just now, it has a size of a toothbrush when viewed into the display. So this gave me a good reason to pop the hood again to take some pictures and to clear off that "toothbrush".

Turns out that it is an extremely tiny particle about 1/3 the width of a hair! Amazing how such a little thing could be magnified so greatly.

Detachable connections to swap to other FatShark reciever modules!

Also, popped the included lipo case open. Yes, it was dead on arrival just like some other owners who got the same batch as I did. Got tired of waiting for CustomerService to send me a replacement so I bought a Compact 850 2S pack as replacement. When mounted, it felt so much comfortable compared to that fat hardcase of the stock pack!

When opened, I was only mildly surprised that one of the cell was puffed. Kind of expected it. Ive desoldered the wiring harness, salvaged the DC plug and made it into an adaptor for 2S' JST Balancing tab. Works great now!

HobbyKing, don't you sneak away now, I still want my replacement! The last mail I got weeks ago was "Requested for a replacement from supplier." It has been nearly 2 months since I first contacted you about it! What's the hold up?

A friend of mine made me a pair of circular reverse polarizing dingle arm antenna and it double the range, far enough to fly outside the orange receiver range but plane was recovered My lipo was DOA and was not willing to stand on my head, rub my butt, sing the Slovakian national anthem in Mandarin while gargling moon rocks to get warranty so I too just use 800mah 2S pack. Still very happy with them and will slowly upgrade as I get used to FPV
