Aha, must be standard that was the thing with mine too. Sometimes you can just hold it while its gluing at the right angle, if it's not too bad that is. have a look and see if you can hold it straight....

I have installed the Turnigy D3548/4 1100kV brushless outrunner with a Hobby King 60A ESC 4A UBEC. All it does is three beeps (the battery is a Zippy Flightmas 2200mAh 3S 1P 30C). When I hook up the H-King 50A Fixed Wing ESC it works fine. My soldering is not up to scratch so that might be the problem.

Anyway my question is can I use the 50A ESC on the D3548/4?

Cheers

Hey photos, I did some testing with my Watts up meter, (I highly recommend getting one of these) and with my setup,
13x4E APC- 41A at 430W
13x6.5E APC- 53A at 550W
This is with full throttle....
So depending on your prop yes you will get away with the 50A ESC...

Hi,

I just got this plane and started assembling. However, the manual is not very helpful. I have 2 questions.

1. This plane has a split elevator design. Do I have to use 2 servos - each servo control half of the elevator? The servo slot at the tail does not have enough space to fit 2 servos. Is there something wrong in the design or just that I missed something?

2. Where is the best place to put the battery?

Regards,

Hi Chancol

If you check out your parts bag you should have a piece of wire bent in a "U" shape. This fits in behind the horizontal stabiliser through the fuselage, half out each side. The elevators have holes drilled into them for the wire ends to slide into connecting the elevator halves together as one. You can then connect the servo to one side and the other will move with it.
Would be well worth the time to take a look at some of the posts in the other Extra 260 49" thread set up by boostoman. The first page of boostoman’s thread has a load of pic’s that show the tail section and the “U” shaped wire.
There is a link in my post on the first page of this thread.
I’m using the HXT900 servos and have set up a split elevator with two of these; they didn’t fit back to back in the fuselage so I shaped some ply to pack out the servos on each side.
As for battery position, that will depend on how you set up your aircraft ie. Motor weight, servo positions etc. You will need to position the battery so the plane will balance. I set the COG at 87mm and found this COG to be quite good.. My battery sits about the same place as the pic’s show on page 1 of boostoman’s thread.
Hope this helps a bit.... enjoy....
