Hi all sorry for delay but finally making some headway here.
I'm not going to post a heap of pics and write my life story here as boostoman has covered this model already, and it really is an easy build.
One thing I do want to show is my motor box modification.
As has been seen the motor mounted with the supplied gear leaves the motor protruding way too far out of the cowl and for my money this is ugly. I've also seen others that have extended the motor box for the traditional shaft mounted prop adapter, but I've always been one for less is more so after some thought I decided to cut 10mm off the motor box and re-glue the motor mount back into the box. I hope the pics explain enough here.

10mm marked ready for cutting

Motor mount cut off and corner supports cut back to allow motor mount to slide back in.

Cut the top and side ply away from motor mount but leave the bottom in place as this makes for a near perfect fit back in....

Motor mount glued back in

Just a side note here for mounting the motor this way, all the thrust will be on the little circlip on the shaft. I got a collar with 2 grub screws from my Trex 450 mainshaft and it fits perfectly. Not a good pic but I think you will get the idea....

End result...With some minor grinding on the cowl.

Just have some minor wiring/soldering, CG setting to do and canopy clip, also want to change the wing screw arrangement as this is clumsy at best....
All up weight with 2200mah 3s is 1556g... I was going to run 2x 3s 2200's but with an extra 196g might leave it as is for the moment and see how it goes for flight times with one 3s...

Looks good Hoverin
You’ll have to lets us know when you’re going to maiden.
Took mine out again yesterday for the 3rd time and put a couple of batteries through it, all went very well. Still one of my best planes.
Not such a good day for my new Katana.
Hobbyking Katana .46 EP 1400mm (ARF) (AUS Warehouse)
I maiden her yesterday, C5055-400kv, 6s battery, 80amp Plush, 14x8 prop
First flight was excellent, second flight lined up for a level pass at two third throttle, during the pass the horizontal stabiliser completely collapsed, yes the landing was very hard.. Nothing survived..
Will be rechecking my aircraft that have flat stabs....
Including the Extra 260...

Oh man sorry to hear about the Katana, complete write offs are hard, especially if you put a lot of time in getting things right,
like I feel like I have with this one. Added some gussets to the rear of the firewall after reading a post where someone tore the lot out in flight...
Hopefully I'm up to speed with bracing etc....
Maiden is close and hope to have a video too....

Neat little spring loaded canopy clip and lug extensions.... I made the clip out of an old pushrod ball point pen spring and some CF tube... I cut away the top couple of mm from the lug arrangement to slide in some CF rod to extend the lugs at the front of the canopy... Fits awesome...

great work hovering. i had my canopy fly off 2-3 times on my first plane and it's really scary becuase when the canopy comes out when the plane is in the air the plane slows down like a parachute.

Thanks guys, Maiden was a let down wrong prop and using tired flight-max's. Changed props and still woeful.
Had new turnigy 2200's at home but waiting for connectors. They finally arrived so wasted no time getting them on and upped the prop as well.
Man a completely different model, did a bit of trimming and messing around with first couple of batteries then settled into some attempts at prop hanging, harriers etc. Knife edges like a champion, absolutely love this thing, just floats around.
It has been mentioned to keep the power up while landing to avoid a wing dropping on you, none of that here, I'm landing dead stick and doesn't even look uncomfortable, actually reminds me of my gliders it takes a bit of getting down. Time to order some more batteries, do some testing with different motors and a lighter ESC, but 2 thumbs up for this one took some work but well worth it, highly recommended for pilots that don't mind getting their hands dirty......

Great news Hoverin, glad to hear all went well.
I agree I've no problem gliding her in also, no wing drop issues.

Cheers, I haven't done this much flying in ages. Took it out again today with revised down-thrust (reduced slightly). I still have a bit of a diving issue with this, WOT or dead stick. Needs a fair bit of up trim to fly level right way up. Tried moving CG and I'm probably at nearly 100mm now.
Flies inverted now straight as an arrow power on or off. Had to file out slightly one of the wing locating holes as looking from rear of plane one of the wings trailing edges at the fuselage was lower than the other, flies now without any aileron trim. This probably sounds like a lot of work but I enjoy a little extra work getting it right, makes you appreciate it a lot more. Video soon I hope.....
