You will need spares of most parts ,
blades, main shaft, feathering shaft, boom, GET A SIMULATOR..... or you will crash on the first try. |
|
|
I must remember .... when inverted .... down is up and up is down .

see my posts in this section re trainer gear to prevent smashing up you project the first time you power it up. Well worth it.
Download Electric Heli Guide for Beginners from the files tab on the HK 450 GT Pro page

Thanks, I did practice a lot of hours already in a simulator.
I'll download the file Sooty, but do you think my wish list is good enough? Many thanks. |

I started with a similar set up but quickly changed to cheap wooden blades and a 10t pinion for learning basic flying skills. This way you virtually eliminate the danger (pucker factor)to yourself, others, and stray pets. The woodies end up in a cloud of confetti if you hit something. They absorb the shock and your head assembly will generally survive apart from a bent feathering shaft or mainshaft.
Woodies are available on ebay in packs of 10 or 20 pairs of matched blades. They are cheap. RPM is restricted to 2200 - 2400 so you need a smaller pinion to achieve this. Cheap fibreglass and plastic blades are an unknown quantity in as far as quality goes and they do fly apart and cause nasty injuries if you fly into yourself. I would not go for the current HK 401B gyro - Major problems reported throughout the forums. Almost identical but with better quality sensors is the Detrum - not available from HK. Mount your gyro under the tail tube block - not on top. The flybar paddles will take it out if you do a real hard landing - and you will. If a cheaper barebones kit of your heli is ever on offer grab one and use it as your spare parts kit and reorder any bits you use. |

opps incomplete post
you will crash you need a simulator and an instructor. someone who will teach you both how to setup the heli and how to fly. But even with that you will crash. It is not possible to learn to fly these with out crashing |

Funprise made a good point, get a whole kit as spares. Smartest idea I've seen in a long while.

Many thanks, I think that your opinion is a good advice. I'm really a beginner so if you were so kind to give me some links to buy the wood blades and a good gyro (detrum model?) for my new HK-450GT Pro 3D Belt-Drive Helicopter Kit (Align T-Rex Compat.).
As far I don't know, could you tell me if the gyro you comment is compatible with the servos, bec... that are on my list?. Must be a Gyro for CCPM Helis?. I only found this http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=11578 11T pinion, i this ok for me? If not, please give me another link to buy this please. I would appreciate this very much as this will help me a lot to learn. Many, many thanks in advance. I wait your answer before buying any thing. Nico. |
