Do you think your Meteor can handle more payload with minimal loss of flight performence? Are you able to cruise at half throttle with that 5S pack?

I loook forward to watching ur project unfold.

25% throttle kept the meteor up on a calm day. and altough my average fly time was 4 or 5 mins when i did a see how long til the bat monitor beeps, I went for 8 minutes (5c 3000MaH 35c+) landed with no beeps and had 3.6 volts per cell when i measured at home 5min later......

the sport jet 70 is a different jet tho the the meteor needs a ele mod to increase travel, swapping the longer rudder servo arm with the shorter ele arm it the easy way.

i think the sport jet may be faster due to a smaller frontal Chord...

SportJet70's Weight (w/o LiPo): 800g
Recommended flying weight: 1100g

Thus, LiPo Weight limit: 300g (Nanotech 4S 3000mah - 299g)

KaosKane's 5S 3000mah LiPo = 430g

Additional Weight:
FPV Equipment: 50g
Full FiberGlass: 350g

So basically, a 5S SportJet70 will weigh 1230g and my concept 5S FPV SportJet70 will be 1650g.

That's questionable.

thank you for the idea of fiberglaases total weight..

i have run my meteor on 6 cell 3000 and the wings started to bend upwards in loops and tight turns, (the motor got to hot and melted the edf housing causing the fan to jam on the edf cylnder wall and allowing the magic smoke out of the motor,i landed well and esc plus rcv ok}

You obviously do the math first ;}
I am a chuck it in the air and see what happens type lol

this is the replacement motor i chose Turnigy L2855-2100 EDF Outrunner (900w) and now evryone wants one, this obviously goes all day on 6cell no probs but it is not as fast as the stock 3000kv motor

Oops, might had overestimated the fiberglass weight. It should just be about 150grams. Replacing the stickers with a paint job should also leave the weight unchanged. I estimated that the paint job would weigh the same as the rather thick stickers used on the SportJet70.

With that taken into consideration, the new estimated weight of the Concept 5S FPV SportJet should be at 1430g. Sound about right aye? If this 1.4kg SportJet70 is able ride into the skies, that would also mean it can handle a 5S 5000mah pack for extended flight time!

I do the math as a record for reference. I chuck-and-observe too! It is just easier for me to make alterations with the numbers in hand. Would had been a different situation if I were to be a professional aviation engineer armed with a wind tunnel!

No stinging from the UK Customs as I got mine shipped into Asia. You should get a problem-free shipment if you get yours from the DE Warehouse - http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=19711

I have the HK Sport Jet and it flies well however I wouldn't want to add the weight of fibreglass without increasing the power.

Hi KK. No I haven't tried it on 5S as the included ESC is right on the borderline on 4S. I think, from memory, that it is a 45amp ESC and a new battery will be at that level on WOT. I use a high discharge 45-90C Nanotech 2650 4S battery which works well. To go 5S would definitely require an ESC upgrade. I'd just fly it "as is", though a paint job would be great as the included stickers are poor.
Sorry for the hijack of the Stinger thread - if any more questions we'd be best off starting a new thread.

So what happened? I buy from HK all the time but never bought a plane before only now bought a stinger and it is coming via air parcel 2kg and the declaration is set at £39, so what happened with your shipping? The Hong kong tracking is not working.
