Maybe it's just mine, but I find it unstable when making a gentle liftoff. Might be some kind of ground effect. The landing gear on the HK frame is not very forgiving, though.

I am new to this and trying to learn quickly, I was reluctant to calibrate each esc seperately as I was given to believe that you need to connect the ESC's to the RX rather than to calibrate them at the same time whilst they are connected to 344 gaui gyro. I am a little unsure as to the proceedure of connecting directly to the Rx. I am about to change my prop mounts to go with the washers and nuts and will do that later after work. I will post pictures of the underside of the motors later tonight.
Thanks for all your information, it is helping me out loads and I really apprecaite it. |

1. Never had a problem with that, not even with my cheapest motors. Maybe that is because I've never used CCW + CW rotating props, that could be ofcourse. First nut till the end of the thread, prop on top, washer on top and then finally the last nut. The last nut needs to have some kind of locking, either it's a nut with plastic inside, or you have to use good threadlock. 2. That is not good. It sounds like there maybe to much pressure on the axel. Or maybe a bad bearing, I don't really know what the downside of your motor looks like. Maybe you could post some pictures. 3. Dubble sided velcro is your friend!! Two straps per lipo, problem solved. 4. If you've calibrated every single ESC and you still have that problem, then it could be that you have a faulty motor or ESC. (or several bad ones for that matter) In the video, it looks like your motors are stopping because they are not turning well. Have you checked if the motors are turning smoothly? Also check for bad bearings. If it's not a motors problem, it's probably an ESC problem. You could try to play around with end points on your Tx, maybe they don't have the right range. Not having them is really a pain in the ass. There are some other shops where you can order these though. |

1. Yes, the threaded fixing method is not the best for contrarotation
. You could try to put some CA on the first nut and tighten it really hard against the non-threaded part of the shaft. You wont be able to get the next nut in the recess, so just put a large washer between the prop and the nut and turn the lock nut hard against the other nut. Locktite on all nuts would help too.
4. Strange. I had the same thing but it was still flyable with some correction. It would however not pull straight up when doing a quick climb. After doing the throttle range calibration, it goes straight up! Fred |

Hi! You have to re-program all esc separately first.
Reduce the travel to 50%, and set your radio with at least 35% expo. For the battery, velcro bands are a good solution ( as I do myself!). For the vibrations: i use adhesive foam (HK)ans it is right enough if you have good props well balanced. Mines are flying quite good. Good luck! Pierre |

Well here are my first to test flights and things aren't going to plan. I have several problems;
1. Props are slipping, I have a nut under the prop in the nut recess and a nut in the top recess with a spring washer on top of that with a nylon lock nut to finish it off. 2. Some of the circlips on the bottom of my motors are coming off, not sure if this is just poor quality motors or something else. 3. Trimming the quad, my battery needs a better mount to keep it secure and in the same place, I am working on a solution but ideas are hard to come by. 4. Still having problems getting all the motors to start up together, as you can see from the videos. Seems like it's one thing after another but I am sticking with it. quadcopter test flight 1 quadcopter test flight 2 Edited by B1RDY - 22/Jul/2011 at 8:01am |
