I have this same problem. I was flying one day, had a crash (I thought it was my battery which runs the electronics failing..), replaced everything that was broken, and noticed my servos don't move when I power up. I get the same 4 red flashes from the flymentor, and the issue where it stops when you unplug the gyro, and the servos going nuts when you plug it up. The tail servo will not respond at all, whether or not the gyro is plugged in. Did you ever figure out what the problem was? |

I had a similar problem on my HK450Pro even before I added the Flymentor. I had the gyro gain set perfectly and had a number of flights on board. Then one day as I prepared for the second flight of the day, bad tail wag appeared 'out of the blue' just at lift off. Analysis showed the slider had became sticky around mid point. I now clean and lubricate the tail shaft and slider assembly regularly to keep it smooth and Ive had no more problems. |

Hey Tuhkur...I dont have FM installed currently, but I will be setting it up on a spare 450 so i can test stuff and see if i can reproduce some of the faults people are having...i will be including an external gyro..(maybe a video)
FM needs to have the RX communicating correctly to provide the signal to FM, but if fm initializes before the RX the fm might not boot up correctly and display a fault... 5 red fast blinks indicates "NO signal from receiver" 3 Red slow blinks indicates "FM initializing failed" If this is the case, it suggests to me the rx is slow to boot. |

One more thing...
Even if my rx is off and i power only flymentor...that red LED bliks 4 times. But if i remove gyro then it blinks like it blinks when there is no rx signal. It blinks little slower and continuously...so there is a difference. |

Hi Tuhkur,
Its weird that it worked for 2 years, now its not initializing correctly. I'm of the impression that the RX is not connecting quick enough, yet fm may have already initialized, but it did work previously, so that makes me think that something may have gone faulty, All i can suggest is to try different RX's There are some incredible people in the "Helifreak" forum that might be able to help a lot more than me...check the link below. http://www.helifreak.com/forumdisplay.php?f=180 |

Thanks guys for your input, I still have not been able pin point the cause of the tail wag but it appears to have been eliminated. The gel tape made no difference, So I took your advice and assumed there was something loose in the tail. I stripped and rebuild the unit, all I could find was a sticky spot on the slider. It was approximately 1/3 the way along just where the hover position should have been. Once this had been sorted the wag disappeared.
Thanks again for the help. |
